Re: (313) Nice 313 style tracks
He did a Mix for the online magazine Fact here in the UK - don't think I was that impressed at the time but I'll maybe revisit it. There's a new Oliver Who Factory thing coming on Planet E by the way - if you like their stuff it's great - epic, swirling and off beat in equal measures (might be ruined by the keyboard Saxaphone riffs for some!!) it's pretty different from most other Planet E releases I can think of in recent times. Didn't see any chat on the Eddie Fowlkes 12 that came out a few weeks ago either - Let my nuts hang. Great chugging Detroit House with all of Eddie's catchy riffs playing off each other over immaculate House beats. I wouldn't say there is a huge amount of music coming out of Detroit that's being missed at the moment on the list but it does surprise me occasionally when stuff like that doesn't merit a post. RE: (313) festivals of the summer?
So you think rather simply not including a festival in May in a feature about festivals in June it's a conspiracy to do DEMF down in some way? (313) Dan Bell in SF May 8 -- 9 hr set!
Of interest? I should think! -- Forwarded message -- From: Greg Bird bird...@gmail.com Date: Wed, May 5, 2010 at 1:37 PM Subject: [idm] SF: Sat.May.8th [KONTROL] presents minimalist icon DANIEL BELL in an intimate NINE HOUR set! Only about 50 tix or so left and they're moving fast. If you want to attend this EPIC event, don't lag! __ May 8th, 2010 [KONTROL] presents: From The Beginning...To The End an evening with ::: DANIEL BELL ::: (Accellerate, 7th City, Tresor, Perlon // Berlin) * 9 HOUR DJ SET * Exclusive SF Appearance * 360 Degree Sound * 150 People ___ Greetings once again, friends and music lovers. In late 2008, after playing for [KONTROL] four times between 2005 and 2007, Dan Bell approached me and told me he had an idea for a long-format special event in which he was the only DJ all night. Knowing this would truly be one for the history books, we secured SF's most amazing intimate private location, and it was on. After promising an 8 hour set in which he was the opener, headliner, and closer, Dan delivered what was, without a doubt, one of the most memorable nights of music I have ever been witness to in well over a decade of steady partying. Flawless long mixes, incredible unheard gems both old and new, and a deep, sophisticated vibe that has rarely (if ever) since been replicated. At 7am, when he was scheduled to end, Dan asked if he could play one more hour, as he still had some great music he'd like to get to before calling it a day. He did. And many of us stayed to the very end. And through nearly 9 hours of mixing, he never lost his focus, never even stopped to use the bathroom! To this day, when people ask me about my favorite parties ever, this one immeditately jumps to mind, and I suspect I'm far from alone in feeling this way. After an unsuccessful attempt at having Dan back to play 222 Hyde last November (he was very ill and had to cancel), at long last we are bringing this dance music legend back to San Francisco for another super-rare, super-special, super-extended session. And this time he's playing nine, count 'em, NINE HOURS. Trust us, you really don't wanna miss this. We hope to see you next Saturday. :) --- Greg Bird and the [KONTROL] Crew ___ Venue: SF location TBA Hours: 11pm - 8am *** ONLY 150 TICKETS WILL BE SOLD *** Will it sell out? Of course it will!
