RE: (313) Kraftwerk: Concerts next year

2012-12-14 Thread 1-11
The sound at the Tate is meant to be rubbish.

I really enjoyed the Velodrome; granted, the sound wasn't the best, though,
but as long as RH is there, there is something magical about Kraftwerk for
me. They always put on a proper do.

4 tickets for Computer World. Lovely stuff.

Tate clearly doesn't have state-of-the-art admin which can match the
technocratic 'Gestalt' [pardon me for being poncy] of Kraftwerk.
Even so, there's little doubt that Kraftwerk would only appear at a venue
[nowadays] if the sound facilities were top notch.

Not so sure about that Ken, the event at Manchester Velodrome was pretty
poor.

Drexciya 4 - The Unknown Aquazone and The Return of Drexciya. As with the
rest of the series, all of the tracks have been remastered, and the
compilation will be made available on CD, LP and as a digital download. For
an idea of what's in store, check out the preview Clone has posted to their
SoundCloud page.

(313) Drexciya - Journey of the Deep Sea Dweller II

2012-04-11 Thread 1-11
Clone announced last November that it would be revisiting the Detroit duo's
revered catalog through a series of compilations, the first of which
focussed on their earliest productions and came roughly 20 years after their
debut 12-inch. Journey of the Deep Sea Dweller II picks up where that one
left off, moving through EPs from the mid and late '90s like Return of
Drexciya, Journey Home, The Quest and the highly sought after Uncharted EP.
The collection also includes The Davey Jones Locker, which originally
appeared on the compilation True People: The Detroit Techno Album. It's due
for release sometime in the middle of May.

01. Intro
02. High Tide
03. Danger Bay

Hi all

I just thought I'd report in. Saw Derrick May and Rolando play at Showcase on
Friday night.

Interesting the venue was a boathouse by the Seine under Alexandre III bridge
before it became a venue. The venue was odd - guys in button shirts, loafers
etc and girls in short dresses and heels. There was a VIP section where people
slammed down bottles of champagne. I think the place was a pick up joint. The
drinks were super expensive (5 euro for water/ softdrink, 8 euro for a
heineken, 12 for vodka redbull). However the guestlist is free if you sign up
online and you arrive before 1.30 am. I signed up at 11pm and got an instant
response back that I was on the list. Luckily you just have to show the door an
email.

I didn't meet the promotor, so I couldn't tell you how Derrick and Rolando
ended up on the bill there. There were a few usual clubbing kids there though.

I don't know who was on before Derrick, but it was just some techno, i think
slightly more minimal style.

I couldn't name any trax, I think Derrick played a few usual ones he always
plays (but still welcome...) I haven't seen Derrick play this well in ages,
despite the crowd. I think there were a few happy cheesy moments, but overall
spot on, tight mixing, pretty good track selection. He played from 2 - 4

Rolando came on 4 and totally just smashed it out of the ballpark. Over the
years I've noticed how uncompromising he is with the tunes and he just plays
what he does best... slamming hard but funky at the same time...and in this
case I think some of the crowd left (but could have been due to tiredness).
I think he played a few things that totally reminded me of the older harder UR
stuff but 'new'. I think there was new Red Planet in there... He played all of
Jaguar, BUT the crowd didn't pick up on it really so in a way that was good
because it was as though the song was just another track. Anyway he played
until 6.20 am, and after that it was strange but nice to come out of the bottom
of the bridge to see the lights still glistening on the Seine, and the sun just
about to rise.

Cheers!

Melody

For goodness sake, shouldn't someone at least point Shake in the right
direction before banishing the guy? It's not like he wants his computer
infected or is sending spam on purpose, right?

I'm sure he could handle installing two programs himself. If he really
can't, someone just has to install these two programs for him. Either way,
it won't take more than 10-15 minutes to install these two. I've linked
directly to the installers for both programs below.

AVG Antivirus
http://free.avg.com/us-en/download-free-antivirus

Malwarebytes (note that software updates are done manually)
http://malwarebytes-anti-malware.en.softonic.com/download#ptn=malwarebytes

At risk of sounding like an endorsement, both programs do a surprisingly
good job of protecting your computer from viruses considering that they are
free. I gave up Norton years ago in favor of these two. They also don't bog
my system down nearly as much as Norton did.

1) Download and install AVG and Malwarebytes
2) Uninstall whatever existing antivirus software he has on his machine now.
3) Run Malwarebytes and AVG scans

Hope this helps him,

Cheese from Metro Area? Perish the thought :)

I thought that's what everyone liked about them, it's cheese you can
enjoy and not feel bad about.

I like the Metro Area Fabric mix. It has some cheesy talking from Morgan

Darshan at he beginning of the mix which is unnecessary, but the mix

is enjoyable.

Rob

a friend forwarded me a post from 313 which i was a bit surprised about

i do not remember the exact order etc...i'm sure i did mess you about as you
said , all i can remember about those limited peacefrog's is that they were
very limited expensive (100% fault of the label) - we had a one per
customer policy on these things - so maybe we thought you were trying it on
a bit, a lot of people were trying to buy to sell on - we dont use ebay
much and i dont think we ever sold them there , so we'd never keep good
things like that back for that , just to sort out all our regulars.

i wont give you some false belated apology as i'm sure i apologised at the
time

we NEVER EVER charge for records we do not have in stock - 100% my business
policy - your confirmation would of said full amount as thats automated ,
but your credit card statement will show revised amount - obviously a
mistake could of happended but it hasnt yet in 15years and its too long ago
now to look into that.

i'm not shady , and if anything i treat USA customers better as they are
normally serious guys , what with having to pay more shipping etc! - that
was the thing i took offence too - record errors/shop mess ups do happen.

anyway just wanted to say that as the online/digital world can be full of a
lot of information/talk about people -

analog regards.

I disagree. I don't have any interest in reading about podcast laws and
regulations. The original post was about a specific detroit related
thing that I wanted to keep track of for later, but now i have to read a
new email that has nothing to do with the op every time somebody
replies. A subject change would easily fix this, and it's just good
netiquette.

They won't let you waiver - music is music to mcps/prs etc and
they

do close people down for it.

This is a New Zealand site remember, so it's controlled by local
organisation RIANZ not any American organisation. I'm guessing
their

fees are equally prohibitive though, because *no-one* offers
podcasts or even streaming archived shows here unless they consist
purely of talk.

So I did some snooping and the local situation is this (turned out
it

was an organisation called Phonographic Performances New Zealand who

control broadcast licenses here):

PPNZ does not have an existing assignment to blanket licence
podcasts at the present time. Any broadcaster seeking to make
available music on demand is required to seek the permission of the

individual copyright owners concerned.

So it's more or less impossible to archive music radio online from
here!Madness...

Drexciya's identity was kept under wraps for two reasons -- the people
that knew were asked to keep quiet and did, and because Drexciya were
famous to at most a couple thousand people world wide - whatever
prominence they achieved, they achieved it inside the dance music

Thanks to Pitchfork et al, Burial is a pop star to a load of kids who
don't know two-step from happy hardcore. Not necessarily a bad thing,
but like rich Americans appropriating indigenous music from around the
world to make a buck, any time something breaks out to a larger
audience, it loses its context, and becomes devalued artistically even
as its value as a commodity increases.

Plus, blowing up is a two-edged sword. Being the flavor of the month
means next month you won't be. While it's a good thing when artists
can make a living from their art, once they become ubiquitous they
have to deal with living in a hall of mirrors -- their detractors,
their imitators, their record labels demands of duplicating past
success. When a bazillion people have glommed onto your art as
something they regard as 'theirs' your own worst competition is what
you did yourself a few years back.

It's not any big prognostication to say that no matter what he
