Jamie LaTondresse (sp?) designed the flyer and the majority of the marketing materials. He was working at C-Pop at the time. I know he has his own gallery of sorts somewhere in the Detroit area - not exactly sure what/where. medium: a monthly adventure in live electronic music featuring live performances each month visual displays by 4d grafx resident dj: nova thursday march 18 NIKO MARKS fifth avenue 215 5th st. royal oak, mi 9p-2a 21+ $5 about niko: Teleported to the inner city of Detroit, Niko Marks teamed up with Mad Mike Banks of Submerge to formulate a production team called Members Of The House. Moving through underground tunnels they dropped plates such as, Summer Nites (with Niko featured on lead vocals and piano) and Somethin' About You, featuring Yolanda Reynolds on vocals. Due to high levels of redundant musical signals being sent out to the masses via main radio stations, three of the members were soon infected by a virus known as RNB. Controversy arose as to who contracted the disease first leading the members into confusing directions. This later proved to be the reason for the demise of the unit [mission # 1315208, failed]. Niko, though suffering from the RNB infection, continued to collaborate with Michael Banks of Submerge under the group name, Unit 2. This mission stemmed forth the high spirited groove, Sunshine, released on Happy Records and Keep Your Head Up featuring Niko on lead vocals and keyboards and was released on 430 West Records. Taking a leap forward in time Niko was chosen by members of the Elohim to spearhead an experiment aimed at tearing down the stronghold of the categorization of music. The second component needed to complete this mission would be the skills of long time cohort, Eddie Flashin' Fowlkes. The outcome: Niko Marks and the City Boy Players featuring Mr. Eddie Fowlkes a collage of artistic expression that housed an array of Detroit vocalist and musicians. Also amongst their collaborative works are: The Detroit Soul Project and the Pre-Amp Brothers[mission #MF-3000 complete]. Niko who also performs live, is usually accompanied by his band Ujuzi who's first release was debuted on Pan Records entitled, Sonny Daye. THEME: To continue to be an active force in resurrecting the soul of what is commonly known as techno/house music.

The event will feature clothes from Detroit Area boutiques and clothing designed by local area artists Emily Audra and Eugene Paul. The visual presentation will include projections by Bob Anderson. Anderson, born and raised in the Detroit Area and currently residing in Hamtramck, is a filmmaker and exhibiting artist whose work with film, gallery and museum installations, and large site-specific public projections has garnered him international attention. He has recently exhibited work in Zurich, Switzerland, and is currently working on a project with the National Gallery in Prague of the Czech Republic. Anderson's projections will also be featured on the facade of the Ford Auditorium building during the Festival weekend. Doors open at 8pm with complimentary drinks served until the 10pm start time. Immediately after the show, High Tech Soul will be unveiling the official Movement 2003 Commemorative painting by local illustrator Kenjii. Rendered in the fashion of a science fiction film backdrop, the Movement 2003 Commemorative painting is a collaborative effort between Kenjji and Detroit muralist, Roy F. Sproule III. This rich blend of illustration and oil painting is sure to renew the grand sense of the previous commemorative piece by Joe Vaughn, not only in its visual impact, but also in its capacity for exhibition. To add to the skilled craftsmanship, the piece will use premium printing effects like foil and 5th color plating to enhance the piece and increase the value of the limited edition prints. The 2003 Movement Commemorative painting shares a vision of Detroits prominent future.
