Current fav is the riotcontrol podcast. Dam fine. Another i have heard is the bodytonic (the spirit catcher one has some nice stuff on it) For English humour i enjoy the adam and joe podcast which is on bbc6. RE: (313) Linkwood and Trusme (was Re: (313) Juan Atkins)
Cool, thanks robin I'll let him know job well done:) Linkwood is releasing a split EP of House/Detroit with me in the near future, but I will keep that under wraps until I have dates. But we're not far off. He has a tune coming out soon on prime numbers. He is also working on the next firecracker and an LP (which he asked me not to talk about yet) Possibly some material working with Trusme too but no real details on that. Sorry to be a bit vague. I will say this though Linkwood under a previous pseudonym was called Pylot and he and I played a "live"-ish set at a public life 313list party back in 2001. This set is up on www.goneloko.co.uk Thanks Max www.myspace.com/mxmspace -Original Message- From: robin [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 31 January 2008 08:44 To: Mxm Cc: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: (313) Linkwood and Trusme (was Re: (313) Juan Atkins) > Spoke to Linkwood before the gig, he was sh*ting as he's not played > a techno > set out in a long time. How did it go?? He played well. Possibly better mixing than Trusme but played in a more pitched-up kinda way. Like a house dj playing techno, but I consider that to be a Detroit related style anyway. I enjoyed the night, even though many people didn't bother coming because Juan didn't show. Trusme has Rick Wade, Andres and Pepe Bradock playing in Manchester over the next couple of months too. Trusme also has a load of new records coming out soon. The latest hotness (Virbrations) is on those Gilles Peterson 12s that have just come out on Defected. Max if you have any info on what Linkwood is up to let us know. robin...

(313) Kenny Delayed and Tour Dates
>From Peacefrog.com 30/01/04 Kenny Larkin Tour So far confirmed dates are as follows: 06/03/04: Belgium, Waasmunster Pressure 11/03/04: Belgium, Gent, Decadance 12/03/04: England, Liverpool , T-Funktion 15/03/04: Dublin Kraftwerk "after show" party 20/03/04: Traxx Zurich Helsinki, Berlin, Marsielle and Madrid can also expect a look in. More details will be posted soon. The Narcissist: Debut album on Peacefrog from Detroit legend Kenny Larkin, set for release 26 April 2004. 11 tracks of some of the finest electronic soul music around, the making of a definite future classic. Also look out for a private pressing and 12" single in the coming months. Stand up comedy and music. Two entirely different forms of expression that share hardly any similarities. In the case of Larkin, they have everything to do with each other, because Larkin glides between the two effortlessly, and with aplomb. For the last few years, Larkin has been on a self-imposed, music hiatus, in order to pursue his comedy career in some of the biggest comedy clubs in L.A, inching his way closer to a prized regular spot at one of the top 3 clubs. Larkin accomplishes this while maintaining a hectic schedule of spinning records across the globe for his many fans built throughout the years. Once his comedy career was established, Larkin turned his focus back to his music. The year 2004 will prove to be, quite arguably, the best year for Larkin with regards to his music. Larkin has completed two genre-bending, beautifully sculpted projects for release. In early March 2004, Peacefrog Records is slated to release the first album. This release goes against what has all but destroyed the term techno in recent years. For so many, the term "techno" signifies all that is harsh, abrasive, and noisy in dance music. But there are those, like Larkin, for whom that reductive definition will not do. His first new offering in 6 years, entitled "The Narcissist", constantly reminds the listener that melody and rhythm are not mutually exclusive categories. That their intersection is the space where the imagination truly takes hold. The uncompromising modernity he injects into this body of work, thrusts him into an indefinable genre of electronic music. Those who know Larkin's style, know he is a man who sets no definable limits in his music. Terms like techno soul, funky, jazzy, ambient, come to mind, but still does little justice in describing what this album accomplishes. Without slipping into the self-absorbed excesses characterizing so much electronic music today, Larkin emphasizes what many electronic artists' today never dreamt of making. That is great music. If you are at all interested in where electronic music has traveled and where it is going, look to Larkin in 2004.

Re: (313) I'll see you Luke Slater mate!
Speaking of Dave Angel, he must release a new LP this year, I read (I think probably almost two years ago now!) in a Korg Trade mag, that he had a new 28 track album almost ready to go . He had funded it himself and had collaborated with artists like Roy Ayres. It was going to be 2 CDs, one techno and one hip-hop and jazzy downtempo stuff. Can anyone else remember hearing anything about this? His output of late has been rather thin on the ground apart from a couple on Rotation that were generic Dave Angel club tracks. Re: (313)KDK- Future Rage (was I'll see you Luke Slater mate!)
Its already out in Japan and managed to pick it up from soulseek. I will be buying it on vinyl though, its sounding great. Still digesting it fully but my initial opinion is that its decent stuff although not ground breaking, more of a continuation of a theme, that being the Nu soul west london vibe these guys have written down in the past few years. But with Dego, Kaidi and Daz at the controls I think it would be difficult to make a bad record. A few tracks are really doing it for me such as Breakers Yard and Natty Head and its got some great downtempo moments to where it strays almost into Erika Badu territory although its Bembe Segue providing the vocals! Great stuff and a nice west London start for 2004. Speaking of which I hear Bugz in the Attic have just remixed Amp-Fiddler. This could be god! :) Max - Original Message - From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <313@hyperreal.org> Sent: Monday, January 12, 2004 4:20 PM Subject: Re: (313) I'll see you Luke Slater mate! > > never mind Luke bleedin' Slater...! > > where did you get this?! > > >NP: DKD - Natty Head. : Future Rage LP > > is it on promo now?? or still cd-r? > whats it saying - any good? > > Thanks! > > alex > _ > > - End of message text > > This e-mail is sent by the above named in their > individual, non-business capacity and is not on > behalf of PricewaterhouseCoopers. > > PricewaterhouseCoopers may monitor outgoing and incoming > e-mails and other telecommunications on its e-mail and > telecommunications systems. Re: [313] Kenny's (Larkin) new record (cd)?
Had an e-mail from inner-city this week saying new UR and Red Planet due in at the end of the week, but nothing yet. Let me know if anyone finds anything!! Max [EMAIL PROTECTED] - Original Message - From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; <313@hyperreal.org> Sent: Friday, February 08, 2002 7:34 PM Subject: Re: [313] Kenny's (Larkin) new record (cd)? I recall meeting Kenny Larkin in Miami (WMC 2000) at the Planet E party and asked him about his album. He told me maybe next year, but he had been way behind schedule due to his computer crashing and losing a lot of material he had done for the album...and he also mentioned the distraction of the DJ gigs that would keep him out of his studio. >>From what I've heard he is doing stand-up comedy somewhere out West and has no intention of making music anytime soon. Bummer, because he made some incredible music. But you never know... On that note, what is going on with UR? Anyone know of any new UR releases coming soon??? -Kered www.futurebpm.com In a message dated 2/8/2002 8:35:26 AM Eastern Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: > From what I remember, the album was supposed to be called "The Narcissist". > It was supposed to be released before the end of 2001.
