Re: (313) Carl Craig & Moritz Von Oswald - Recomposed Vol. 3
I don`t know what the original sounds like since I have never listened to Ravel. In my opinion Carl Craig & Moritz Von Oswald - Recomposed Vol. 3 is a very poor release. The music simply hurts my ears. It is wy below par for Carl as well as Moritz. I was really looking forward to this release, but I got very disappointed. Structure totally got lost and the samples from the original collide head on with the music they have added to it. Not my cuppa tea. What if Hawtin was a juggler? Well, just have a look at "Michael Moschen: Juggling rhythm and motion". Especially at 8m57s end 19m33s. (The rest of the vid is too much off topic). Looks like it. I only just discovered he played in my town last decemer. Noteably a town which is pretty dull 313-wise. In a venue that is so nearby I could crawl there if I want to. Re: (313) Digital Djing
Hi all, A very interesting discussion. Much had been said about it, so i`ll try to keep it short. My "solution" to this problem is inspired on a discussion that was held on this list before. There was a discussion about how to sort your records. This is essentially the same discussion. At that time someone came up with the idea of sorting your records in chronological order. So that is what I did when I was configuring Traktor. I made a folder for each month. In a folder I store the tracks that are new to me in that month. I found this the easiest way to recall the location of the tracks. It works way better than a long list and you can still sort them by bpm per folder. (Which is not really necessary since you can get the tracks to play in their original key when pitched up or down.) Just my 0.02 €cts Peter On Jan 3, 2008 1:06 PM, Benoît Pueyo <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Interesting points have been raised here. (313) Lyrics to Model 500 - Future
Hi all, Since I think of Model 500 - Future as one of my favourite all time tracks, I want to find out what the exact lyrics are. I visited the 313 faq, but there I could only find the lyrics to Night Drive (Thru Babylon) and "Sharevari". I also searched through Google and paid a visit to Discogs without any results. Anyway, this is what I came up with so far: Model 500 - Future Techno revolutions Advanced technology Enter the computer Robotic factories Brand new innovations Brand new ideas Changes all around us The future is here Pocket calculators and TV sets Remote control and micro cassettes Pocket calculators and TV sets Remote control and micro cassettes People moving forward Just take my advice A brand new day is upon us A brand new is alive <-- not sure about this line If you don't believe me There is one more thing to say Just take a look around you Techno is here to stay Pocket calculators and TV sets Remote control and micro cassettes Pocket calculators and TV sets Remote control and micro cassettes Future Future is here Future Future is here (is here is here is here is here…) Have no fear Future is here The future is here Open up your eyes Clean out you ears Because the music is fresh And the beat is clear I sit here to set <-- not sure about this line The record straight Let you know what's up Before it's too late Have fear (fear fear fear fear fear) <-- not sure about this line Maybe there is anyone who can help me out with the last lines. And maybe these lyrics also deserve a place in the faq. ;-) Grt, Peter

Thanks for the update Robin. It is always nice if someone points out some possibly interesting records. Below some of my favourite releases for this moment. Jeff Samuel - Lost http://www.discogs.com/release/952466 Alton Miller - Souls Like Mine http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=36039 B12 - Slope http://www.discogs.com/release/981763 Comtron - Follow The Money http://www.discogs.com/release/956063 Mike Shannon - Tactile Green EP http://www.discogs.com/release/951133 Sleeparchive - Papercup http://www.discogs.com/release/959138 Gr, Peter On 6/19/07, robin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Quite a few new bits out over the last month or so and I haven't had chance to write about them. Before some of you shout 'late!' :), some of this is a few weeks old, some from last week or so. Keith Worthy - She Loves Me Not - Aesthetic Audio Follow up to Emotional Content. BeatTheBeatUp starts as a beat track but builds the depth as it progresses. The title track on the flip is a lovely rolling deephouse number but the other side steals it for me. Lerosa - Ruski - Real Soon Nice 12 from Real Soon, following in a similar vein to the Juju and Jordash 12 on the label. Midway between broken beat and beatdown in vibe it's another great 12 from this label. Juju & Jordash - Blue Plates - Real Soon Two slow weird organic tracks. Check. Herb LF - Miles - Farside Miles (SoulPhiction Mix) is a lovely lilting piano based track, the pick of the 12 for me. Keith Worthy/KSoul&Ra.H/Patrice Scott - Underground Anthems Vol.1 - Sistrum Another great 12 from Sistrum, this time split with two artists other than Patrice. Keith Worthy here with an acidic take on his usual sound. KSoul and Ra.H and label owner offering up two more rough deep tracks. If you've not got any tracks by these guys this 12 is a great place to start. Aroy Dee - Lies - M>O>S 'Jive' is the track for me on here. The Comtron voiced 'Evil' dropping more of a Chicago house vibe. Quality. Rick Wade - Shamballa - Yore l love Rick's stuff, and this is a solid 12 but I'd like to hear him push his sound a little. That said, 'Shamballa' is a cracking track. Deetron ft. DJ Bone - Life's Soundtrack - Music Man RadioSlave remix is the mix that works for me. Very C2 in flavour but I love the moodyness of Bone's spoken vocal. There's a Redshape mix of this too but it doesn't grab me as much as his other output. KSoul&Ra.H - Doser004 - Morphine Records OK so their sound is close to that of Omar S but who cares if it works this well? Kelley Polar - Chrysanthemum EP - Environ Magic Tim mix of Rosenband is the standout. I find some of the KP stuff a little twee but this mix (by the label owner?) works for me. Trusme - What Tony Wants - StiLove4TheMusic Not quite up with his awesome 1st 12 but still a nice edit/cutup 12. More summery this time. Check. Omar S - Grandson of Techno008 - FXHE With some percussion input from Theo Parrish another minimal (not mnml) house monster from AOS. He really pushes the loose unsynced approach here. Awesome. robin...

Re: (313) jazzy Strings of Life remix.
A bit late, sorry for that. I also caught this version and it is by Christian Prommer and upcoming on Sonar Kollektiv. To my ears it sounded like a jazzy/loungey cover of the original. I think I like it. Peter On 3/29/07, Nik Stoltzman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Yeah, I caught it too. I am not sure how I feel about it. At first I thought the piano sounded great (and it does), and really picked up on the intricacies of the melody and chord changes and had to respect the sheer class and balls of the original. The meandering bass in this cover is spot-on too. But... as I actually listened to it out of context, just as a piece of music in it's own right, I couldn't help but feel it sounds like just another slice of hep swingin' cocktail-lounge jazzssszz. Not that this style doesn't have its own merits (right time and place and all that) but I find it too self-consciously cheesy. Time will tell. Still really dig it though. Just not sure I'd buy it. Re: (313) Jeff Mills - One Man Spaceship
To me, this album was one of the highs of 2006. The sounds actually reminded me to space and space travel. From this album, Mills` love for old science fiction movies becomes very clear. The theme, plus the fact he really makes his machines sing, make this a top album. PS: this is the flash (.swf) promo for the WOMB residency / One Man Spacship release: http://www.bigupload.com/d=BA5E54AB Peter On 2/5/07, Toby Frith <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: I'm a bit surprised to see no comment on Mr Mill's latest CD, although I suppose that the fact that it's on an extremely limited Japanese Import doesn't help! It's a return to form I think after 2 or 3 years of middling work from him. Very lush, abstract minimal techno in the same vein as Metropolis, which IMHO is still his best "album". It is a bit frustrating however that a lot of people won't hear this record. And given that Mr Mills isn't an artist I think that needs return on these CD sales given his large DJ fees, it's a peculiar dichotomy because in today's climate a shop selling this CD online will have their stock bought up by collectors who then sell it on. I guess because it's on CD, it only exacerbates p2p sharing. For all the latest news and comment visit telegraph.co.uk, the UK's most visited quality newspaper website.
