in the beautiful Crystal Ballroom of the Masonic Temple featuring the US
debut of Germany¹s Alter Ego, Geoff White/Aeroc (live), Matthew Dear (live
PA performance), Midwest Product, and DJs Osborne and Ryan Elliott.

Headlining are German stalwarts Alter Ego, who, despite recording since the
early Œ90s, will be making their US debut at The Three Fates. Having

experimental realms.

guitar-based, experimental debut as Aeroc, Viscous Solid, is released in
July; Matthew Dear, performing a full live set of material from his
acclaimed Leave Luck to Heaven and upcoming releases; Midwest Product, who
will take time away from recording their new album for a rare live
appearance this summer; and DJs Osborne, who has spent much of the summer
touring as Soundmurderer as part of the Rephlex Records tour, and Ryan
Elliott, one of Detroit¹s up-and-coming DJs who performing in the festival

Located within Detroit¹s historic Masonic Temple, the Crystal Ballroom is a
unique and elegant venue built in 1928 with Italian-style décor and two
giant crystal electroliers. The moderate-sized room will help insure that
the Three Fates is one of the more memorable events during Memorial Day
weekend.

The Three Fates takes place on Friday, May 28th, from 10pm-4am, tickets
costing $15. The Crystal Ballroom is located within the Masonic Temple at

At first the new Villalobos album seemed a bit bland to me, but with
repeated listens and a newly descended Fall, the record has become new
again. Great sounds and textures everywhere, and a woozy, melancholy vibe
prevails. Definitely one of my favorites of the year of any genre. Anyone
have any profound thoughts on this record?

program, Brave New Waves. BNW (broadcast from Toronto) is one of the most
prestigious alternative radio programs in all of North America (it was also
the inspiration for Solvent's My Radio from Disco Nouveau). The program
runs from 12:05 am - 4 am (EST) and Tadd's spotlight is supposed to begin at
12:45 AM. The spotilight will focus on Tadd's diversity from his James
Cotton and Dabrye aliases, to his newly famous SK-1 moniker and the music
under his birthname.

You can tune in and listen at www.bravenewwaves.ca or if in Detroit, its at
89.9 fm (Windsor) on the dial, if you can get it.

-Speaking of radio, every Thursday, Carlos Souffront and Todd Osborn hold
court from 10-1 AM on Ann Arbor's WCBN (88.3 or www.wcbn.org) with the
equally famous, Crush Collision. Expect foward-thinking music plus special
guests such as tomorrow's featured DJ, Ryan Elliot. R. Elliot, if you
haven't seen him before, plays every Tuesday at Ann Arbor's Goodnight Gracie
with Matthew Dear and guests like Tadd and myself.

[313] Re: electro stuff

2002-02-21 Thread Sam Valenti IV
P,

A little self promo,

We are putting out a compilation, Tangent 2002: Disco Nouveau of new music
inspired by the Italo Disco sound (like that on Mixed Up) by artists like
Adult., DMX Krew, Ectomorph, Solvent, Daniel Wang, Lowfish, Susumu Yokota
and even I-F himself on March 26th.

Check www.ghostly.com or www.disconouveau.com for details...

Sincerely,

Sam Valenti IV
Ghostly International

i am really digging the i-f mix up in the hague CD (thanx aly!) i am
wondering if anyone can tell me where when the tracks come from, most of
them sound quite old but you never can tell sometimes.

also here in oz the issue of XLR8 (not a bad mag - sure is a nice change
from the UK press. funny to see full page ads for a stacey pullen tour...)
that's just hit the shops (actually from nov 01) has a feature on
contemporary electro artists like andrea parker, j saul kane anthony
rother. after hearing some stuff on mo wax i kinda lost interest in new
electro cos it seemed kinda trip hoppy missing all the things i liked
about it, but but the stuff that on the i-f CD is lotsa fun. so feel free
to recommend any other artists who might be making similarly cool stuff i
might enjoy, thanx a bunch.

spacerwoman by charly is so cool!

[313] Re: Giorgio Moroder

2002-02-05 Thread Sam Valenti IV

Maarten,

The interview with Giorgio from NME (which I am fortunate enough to have an
original copy of) in 1978 is as good as it gets for getting inside the man's
head a it pre-dates his Hollywood era and shows him as a shrewd businessman
and not just a disco producer.

The interview, plus a good one with Sparks concerning the Moroder
collaboration they did (Tryouts for the Human Race, one of the best
Moroder tracks ever), is at:

Hi people,

I want to get a clear vision on the impact that georgio moroder had in the
late 70´s and later on house and techno.. Does anyone know a good text about
this guy? And more important - can I find some sound previews of what he
has produced?

Sorry for my bad english today.. but it has been a hectic day!

Cheers,
Maarten
