Re: New subscribers?
Hi there- I've been lurking since the beginning of 313 (Morgan Geist's first post maybe?) I love Detroit techno (and Detroit). I have a show on intergalactic.fm's Dream Machine that usually features a track or two from a Detroit artist. (I even got to check out the Packard Plant the first time I went there in 1994!) In my opinion, Drexciya and Detroit Escalator Co. made some of the most beautiful music ever. Love reading all your posts, and I'm super happy people are posting again. -Suzanne On Wed, Oct 24, 2018 at 11:58 AM wrote: > > “The paradox of black cultural movements -- Techno, Hip Hop, Jazz, Blues etc > -- is that it is dependent on the majority culture -- i.e. mostly white -- to > support it, because they are the ones with the numbers money. Re: (313) movement represent
Hi Fred- Long time 313 lurker here. I just wanted to add some feedback: - Loved KDJ -- especially the fact that he actually spun vinyl. I think he even played some Genesis (Phil Collins era no less) in that crazy set. - Richie Hawtin was really fun. I enjoyed the whole thing. - DJ Minx! Amazing. That woman can command an audience. - Audion -- loved Audion live. He really took advantage of the Red Bull Academy sound. - Dan Bell -- great groove in his set. Made in Detroit's sound was perfect for his set. (And vinyl again!). I can't believe I've never seen him DJ. - Rrose -- unbelievable. My favorite set of the festival despite the crowded underground stage/weather. I was a little disappointed with the MID sound system on Monday. It didn't do justice to what Carlos Souffront had to offer. Detroit notes: Drove by the Packard Plant. I was sad to see how it's deteriorated in the past (almost 20 years). Loved the Heidelberg Project. I'm so glad it's still there (at least in part). Back to lurking…. :-) -Suzane On Sunday, 26. May 2013 at 14:01, Fred Heutte wrote: How y'all feeling out there? Met up with John Sokolowski yesterday and heard rumors that Mr. Earle is in the house... Good sets yesterday from 16 Lolitas, KDJ, CC, Alton MIller. Mr. Parker, playing the classics. But the difference between me playing those classics (Nightcrawlers, No UFOs, and on and on) is what makes Terrence so special. He was on -fire- despite playing in a t-shirt in 50 degree weather. Dubstep has arrived at the festival (in its highly fragmented genre state). Nuff said. The weather is actually very nice if on the coolish side, and there was a great full moon rising over the Detroit River last night. See you on the plaza and at the parteez... because there's no way back, at all... fh 503.757-6222
Re: (313) Kirk Detroitio question
hi alex- the philosophy of sound and machine cd, right? I have it and I really like the neuropolitique track. it goes quite well with the rest of the songs on the cd. you definitely hear the derrick may influence toward the end of the track. this is one of my favorite cds of all time (especially because of balil's whirling of the spirits) -suzanne (long time lurker on the list) On Thursday, April 29, 2004, at 08:37AM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Sorry, just re-winding a minute and going back to this topic. just here... http://www.kirkdegiorgio.com/art.htm checking the art2 cd - it has a derrick may mix of neuropolitiques artemis I never heard this!! is it good?? i have the art 2 double pack, but it doesn't have this on. anyone have the cd?
