(313) Terrence Parker / Intangible Soundworks
Hello 313 Peepz, Just wondered whether any of you could help me out with some Terrence Parker / Intangible info. I've just got turned onto a couple of his records which I love (Tribute e.p and Love Got Me High). Can anyone recommend anything else that he released on Intangible or other labels that's in the same league as these 2 ? Also if there's anything released by other artists on Intangible which are 'must-haves' then please let me know about these as well. I've been into Detroit stuff for years but am only catching onto his stuff now for some reason. He never seemed to get the publicity that the other Detroit artists received in Europe which strikes me as odd, seeing that his stuff is up there with the best of them. Thanks - Any help appreciated. (313) Forgotten Detroit Classics
Morning 313 Peepz, Right, it's Friday, one week till x-mas and i'm at work when i'd rather be at home listening to some nice warm, emotive techno music. If I can't be listening to it i'd want to talk about it instead. So Whenever I see lists of Detroit classics it's always the obvious tunes which are included; hi-tech jazz, strings of life, desire etc. But what about those not so well known gems, the ones that are loved and forgotten or the ones 'that got away' ? I was getting ready for work this morning and I got a track in my head which wouldn't go away. Very sexy track, very deep, quite unique at the time (I could never mix it with anything as it sounded so unlike anything else I had) - bugged me for a few minutes then I remembered it. Infiniti - Higher (Tresor) - great track, but never got the recognition it deserved for some reason. Anybody else ? Chris. - Email provided by http://www.ntlhome.com/
(313) Frictional 01
Hello, I've got the chance to snap up a copy of the first Frictional release, Claude Young Shake's 'Changing Factors'e.p Does anyone out there know what it's like - is it dancefloor friendly, what kind of style is it ? Would appreciate any info. Chris. - Email provided by http://www.ntlhome.com/
(313) D.Wynn KMS mix
No James, don't think that last track on the cd is the 'Yennek' track. this one's quite garagey and has the lyrics to be without soul, in my life - anyone else got any clues about this or either of the other tracks ? chris. - Email provided by http://www.ntlhome.com/

Re: (313) OT: A H mixers [was Re: (313) richie hawtin in wired magazine]
I personally don't have a problem with the AH having gain controls on the back. If one record is quieter than another all you have to do is adjust the gains whilst your cueing up which takes a couple of seconds. The LED 'channel' lights give you an accurate enough idea of when the volumes on both records match. Chris. I prefer to have the main faders at max to allow for easier cuts, so I generally cue a track at one volume and then back off a notch or so before dropping it in, then gradually bring it up to match the other track. Reaching around the back of the mixer to do this is a pain in the ass in my opinion. Other than that, I think the layout is great and the LFO is pretty fun once you muck about with it for a bit. Never used one of the higher-end AH mixers, but I'd love to give them a shot -- unfortunately they're just a little price-prohibitive in my book. - Original Message - From: Gary Robinson [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Martin [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Jason Brunton [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Blackman, Ryan (UKEKT) [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: 313 313@hyperreal.org Sent: Thursday, November 20, 2003 5:22 AM Subject: Re: (313) richie hawtin in wired magazine All down to space on the front panel, you can set the gain while you're cueing up and shouldn't need to tweak it, whereas the EQs, sends, filter etc. all need to be closer to hand while in the mix. Before I got a Xone 32 I thought it was a stupid place to have the gains, but after a week or so of getting used to it I've never given it another thought. It's just a great sounding well built piece of kit. The facilities (ranging from Aux Send/Return, Filters etc) are also top notch. (313) Blaze
Greetings 313 Peepz, I was wondering whether any of you can tell me what are the ESSENTIAL tracks released by Blaze. I'm really into the 'A Moment in Time Part 1' record that they released recently. Beautiful, deep-house music which can be appreciated at home or in a club. I'm more into this type of Blaze material rather than the noodly, garage stuff they also release. If anyone could give me any tips I would really appreciate it. Sorry, know this one's not strictly 313 but i've heard people like Juan Atkins playing Blaze stuff (which is what got me into it in the first place). (313) Strings of Life (Krivit Edit)
which record shop did you get it from Alex - i've been looking for this for a couple of weeks. i heard Francois K play this at the Movement Festival, agree with your comments about it's crossover potential. chris. - Email provided by http://www.ntlhome.com/
(313) 'Techno' Music
this ones been buggin' me this a.m. although i generally disagree with dance-genre labelling (the best was 'intelligent techno', as opposed to unintelligent techno I suppose !)I'm usually quite interested to find out where these terms come from, whether it's a group, person or magazine. I remember reading an early interview with Juan Atkins or Kevin Saunderson, saying we call our music techno. On the other hand I read someone else saying that it was Neil Rushton (KoolKat honch) who coined the term to market the music. I also remember DMay saying that he always hated the term and never thought of the music in that way. Can anyone expand further; was it though up by the 'belleville 3' or Rushton ? - Email provided by http://www.ntlhome.com/
(313) Francois K's effects unit
Does anyone out there have any info on the effects unit that Francois K used during his set at the Movement Festival ?? It's a slimline, white coloured unit anyone who was there will remember how he used it to great effect. He also used it during the Transmat party at the Tangent Gallery and apparently carts it around with him when he d'j's all over the world. Any help much appreciated - I want one !!!
