Re: [313] DEMF suggestions for next year

2000-06-02 Thread rios delgado
I have a stack of basic channel records and maurizio
shit in my collection which I dig on from time to time
first off.. Second, newbie to the list not the music
in discussion..elitist-
Can't you just let someone on the list disagree with
you, or are you too insecure?
If people on this list get angry because I didn't like
the set, big deal..
It was an amazing festival..drop it.
Q(Uberzone) has no baggy jeans, does not play off a
DAT either--can you back that up--he was a sound
engineer for many years and knows plenty about live
gear...listen to the JUPITER'S and 303's...LIVE
DRUMMING courtesy of the octopad and nice
compositions-- and that's live...
that's why I like him
what's bad about hardfloor?? No talent there either?

Uberzone is the most wack, no soul having, LIVE DAT
 playing phatdawgs (A
term for all cheesy looking raver kids with those
 huge swamp pants who
go around sayin, say, dawg! or that's fuckin'
 phat!) I have ever
 heard!

now, basic channel creates music with depth and
 warmth and most of all
soul. So, before you call something boring, consider
 the fact that you are
a newbie and your tastes may change. And dissing BC
 on this list will only
 be frowned upon.

it was inside of a thread among other mentioned
artists...whom produce electronic music, such as
Robert Hood,Adam Beyer,Hardfloor and others I
posted..pay attention...it's easy, and it helps in
discussions like this one.

you.
I think this list is made up of wannabe fanzine
writers(if anything your the raver with the faddy

musically judgemental people..at least those who have
flamed me so far...
for what?
Did I attack anyone else personally, no?
This is supposed to be a discussion list, not a place
where someone get's slammed for liking a certain
artist, among thousands of others as well... YOU ARE
DOING THE ANTITHESIS OF WHAT THE FESTIVAL AND THE
FOUNDERS OF THIS MUSIC FOUGHT TO ESCAPE! and that's
just sad...Does anyone see my point here???

WHEN DO YOU TALK ABOUT RECORDS HERE?

About 5 days after I got the site up, my isp went
 down. (Not for everyone, just
for me, and you can be sure i was their *top*
priority.) I was out of service
for 45 (yes, 45 days). Then, last Monday, May 22, I
 finally got my service
 restored.

On Wednesday, I had planned to announce the
ressurection of the site. But what
should happen upon walking into my apartment? THE
BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH and one
 ticking drive.

Yep, you guessed it, the drive that i use for my
server died. And do you know
how much they want for data recovery? $1500 to $4500
 ! That's outrageous. So,
unless anyone wants to donate the money to get disk
 recovery for that drive, or
i happen upon some data recovery guy and bat my
 eyelashes enough, the sets are
 gone.

I'm really sorry. I feel like such a schmuck for
 volunteering to host the site,
and then having it die, and then having it *really*
 die.

If Josh ever has access to a highspeed ftp server,
and can put the sets back up,
I can d/l, convert and put them up again. (But this
time I will put them up with
 a realaudio isp)

But, on the bright side, at least we have a lot of
 real audio from DEMF to
 listen to now...

again, sorry i'm a schmuck... this kind of stuff
always happens to me... i'm the
glitch queen... ya, good plan to go into
 programming, huh? wise career decision
 there, holl...

 ok, i digress...

Uberzone play dope live sets..Basic channel was
getting on tons of peoples nerves at the festival..not

even close
Did anyone go to that Foran's gig, if not you missed
some serious live acts???(somebody back me up) Those
groups(robotDtronik) and AgoraOne and Kelsey Thomas
doing solo acts had their stuff down tight, I didn't
see anything close to that ***LIVE*** at the festival
coming from BC or Puhbas..
Note***I missed alot of the live shows@ DEMF..Theorem
and Bill were great I'm sure,, scan7 Spacetime

I am not including live hip-hop in the discussion..

And Puhbas was well.I won't say it cause the

Re: [313] those 909 sounds!

2000-05-23 Thread rios delgado
Have you ever heard of an effects processor, they do
wonders to drum sounds...
The salesman at guitar center can also help you out
with this question..
FYI, the MC 303 contains direct samples from the
909 that can be tuned(with a knob movement) to exact
replication of the original, if you know what you're
doing. No synthesizer is crap, they can all be used
for something!! You can also purchase a tr-909 at many
different shops in the us and abroad, but there is
more to creating music that having the 909 kick
drum...

hope that helps you in your quest for replication
willy.

 Are these any good or
should I go for a Novation DrumStation / Korg ER-1?

 PS Don't buy a Roland MC-303 'cos they're shit.
