I am comfortable blaming that on V. Delay. Fair enough. Mr. Delay's output at that time didn't stand up to the quality of his earlier releases. Thankfully, he has since redeemed himself several time over. {}0+|
Re: (313) Ellen Allien
I'm not really feeling her new album either. At least not yet. I am a bit surprised by her shift in style, but if nothing else it is in keeping with her general aesthetic, which I respect quite a bit. I do like where she's coming from, even if this new album hasn't quite grabbed me yet. I have to ask, though, why do so many people hate on AGF? (313) Ellen Allien
I don't recall a discussion of BPitch Control here but it's a very interesting label and I like Ellen's approach. She deserves her good standing. I'm not crazy about her new album Sool but I understand her experimental impulse with it. It's very subliminal, post minimal, with found sounds and an ambient quality. I really admire her Fabric mix - some melodic techno, minimal, BPitch fan Thom Yorke present... I recall seeing her at the Detroit festival a few years ago and thinking she was at a disadvantage playing in a large arena when her approach would suit a smaller space. Her signings Modeselektor are interesting too with their glitchy urban. Any thoughts?
(313) ellen allien/apparat show
well it's not detroit tchno, but all techno originates from detroit right? then somehow made it over to berlin where people like ellen allien take it in similar but unique directions. so in the spirit of trying to post something actually about techno, here's a blog post i just put up about the show i saw last thursday: http://echoplex.blogspot.com/2006/09/two-hearts-beat-as-one.html if you check the archives, i've written about some other shows like audion that might be of interest to people here. d.
Re: (313) ellen allien/apparat show

Excellent blog post...and photos, too? Oh my. Thanks for that. Your review makes me upset about missing their Chicago performance this past Sunday. :( Apparat live sets have always been a pleasure. Now I wish I had been there. bo -Ray On 9/6/06 9:00 AM, chthonic streams [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: well it's not detroit tchno, but all techno originates from detroit right? then somehow made it over to berlin where people like ellen allien take it in similar but unique directions. so in the spirit of trying to post something actually about techno, here's a blog post i just put up about the show i saw last thursday: http://echoplex.blogspot.com/2006/09/two-hearts-beat-as-one.html if you check the archives, i've written about some other shows like audion that might be of interest to people here. d.

Yea Ellen Allien has her moments, I think most of her DJing is lame, but her production has potential. [313] ellen allien. [was: Re: [313] Akufen]
Grammenos, Peter writ: Minus his new album, can I get any Akufen on cd? He has a track on the mayer kompakt mix and also on the new swayzak groovetechnology v1.3, which by the way is an excellent tech-house mix. There are tracks from ellen allien, In spite of probably repeating myself here, I think Ellen Allien's album Stadtkind is absolutely gorgeous. Released in summer 2001 (?) on her own imprint Bpitchcontrol, it's so totally not last year. If you haven't been to Berlin you get to know the city through the tracks that come along in dark, in dub, in clubby, in playful, in downtempo, with spoken word (Ellen herself)... very atmospheric and hypnotic. If you know Berlin you'll recognise it in this album. : ) The track on Swayzak's Groovetechnology is Funkenflug der Träume, and with its slightly uptempo electrodubby beat and Ellen's spoken words it fits perfectly into the compilation - I won mine at the last Groovetech competition yay! (Sorry, couldn't resist - so rare I win anything that I'm well chuffed to be runner-up even, for once ; ) ). It was in the mail today and yes, 'tis rather a nice ride. : ) Ta-ra, Anya basic channel, ricardo villalobos, herbert, mayer, and monolake. -Pete - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
