Yeah. It's a gutting evening at face value. Last year's Whistle Bump
birthday with Osunlade was fantastic. They get one of the best, most up for
it crowds in London and will do again for their 5th birthday + Danny Krivit.
Lost is our own Mr. Blackman's home away from home, and his birthday, so I
think many of us will wind up there to help him celebrate. The main
consolation I have about missing Luciano this time is that I'm sure he will
be back through London sometime soon (I believe he lives in Switzerland
now), and maybe at a more intimate venue (he played a smallish Peacefrog
party a few months back with Marco Passarani). It is also the beginning of
Villalobos' residency @ Fabric, so that's nothing to fret about either. :)
Spoiled for choice indeed!

We saw Stasis on the last day of ATP last year and he played some amazing
tracks really really badly. He started out fine playing wicked hip hop and
not mixing it, but when he went into slower house and techno it all went to
hell. Trully cringe-worthy. But I'll give him another shot, because I find
it hard to believe that very many of the people at ATP were in their ideal
mindframe on that last day. One of the messiest gatherings I've ever seen -
people scattered across the floor after Surgeon in varying states of
exhaustion, near-death, alcohol poisoning, sleep or various combinations
thereof. You had to step over bodies across most of the dancefloor. Aww...
I'm getting all teary eyed thinking about it. ;)

This weekend in NYC is shaping up to be similar. Tonight I'm forced to

Matt Dear vs. Sammy Dee and Dandy Jack.

STEVE BICKNELL takes this opportunity to welcome back JEFF MILLS AND KEVIN
SAUNDERSON,
both prolific producers who have been at the helm of the progression of
electronic dance
music. JEFF MILLS continues to challenge perception with his latest dvd/cd
project.
First previewed with us last August, on this occasion we present
the much anticipated finished product, allowing Jeff to segue between
himself 'live' and himself 'in the mix' on film. It works!
KEVIN SAUNDERSON set the pace back in the day and has been the only
producer
from the Detroit stable to have maintained both integrity within the
electronic
dance field and mainstream success with hits such as Big Fun and Good Life
w
hich have crossed the borders and back again.
STEVE BICKNELL ploughs a path down the middle of these sonic tangents,
uniting them under the LOST banner, and in
the process showcasing his own take on machine funk while highlighting
forthcoming outings from himself and Robert Hood on Cosmic Records.
