Jesus, is everyone really going to continue with this annoying thread? Cos
if you are you may as well know that I saw UR do a secret live gig with
Drexciya on drums in British Home Stores and in the elevator were Kraftwerk
meeting George Clinton!! I mean come on, all this started because someone
heard Big Fun being played in a store. I mean it was hardly a limited
edition now was it. Time to move on.

 Peace
 Stewart

Someone else brought this up to me offlist... Big Fun was a major club
hit, did very well on the club charts and also charted on the Billboard Hot
100, although I can't recall where it peaked at... I don't remember if it
broke into the Top 40 or not. Big Fun received anywhere from moderate to
heavy airplay in the major (Top 20) radio markets... outside of that, I
believe it received little to no airplay at all in what would be considered
the small mid-sized radio markets. The thought makes me shudder, because
I happened to hear it on a trip into Chicago once in '88 (both major Top 40
stations had it in heavy rotation at the time), and that's the song I give
credit for hooking me into house and techno. Like a couple of others, I've
 noticed! LOL

I don't understand why it's ok to play tracks like these in the mall stores,
tv commercials, or even at Taco Bell but they're shunned for the most part
by commercial radio? I'd have a heart attack if I heard anyone broadcast
Big Fun around here on the radio

While we're on the topic of Kevin Saunderson (and Inner City), I thought I
saw on 313 a while back that there was supposed to be another Inner City
release soon? I've inquired about it at a couple of places and no one seems
to know much about it. Did I miss out on it, or was it pushed back, just
hard to get, or what?

I used to work for the Gap (same company) and they did have a compilation
each month that was sent out to the stores that we had to play. I never
heard anything Detroit related though, although there was a Basement Jaxx
track on EVERY month's CD.

Another clothing company I worked for (Le Chateau - Canadian) had a similar
system. There were a LOT of tracks from Distance Recordings,
a couple old Swayzak tracks, and, believe it or not - Sandwiches (two
different mixes, too).
