no kidding, his set hasn't changed in about 2 years.

Is it just me or does Derrick May tend to play the same records all the
time? I would just say buy his mix Cd and thats all you need. I sure wish I
would produce more music rather than djing all the time, but I am guessing
 the money is too good.

Jose - never fear! Norma Jean Bell is
playing, this means almost assuredly
KDJ will be there, either on piano or
on turntables, or on something. At
least, I would hope. I couldn't imagine
Kenny not being at the DEMF, he's one
of the few Detroit techno producers
who really supports the city.

Also, Rick Wilhite nice. Maybe
Rick can repress KDJ 008 and 011 to
celebrate.

As for no Richie Hawtin, as far as I'm
concerned, that's excellent. In fact,
if Richie Hawtin were playing at the
DEMF, points would be deducted.

No Theo Parrish, though.

I think there are still other names to be announced? I know of at least one
name who was confident he was playing a couple of weeks ago - a live set -
but who is yet to be announced. It could be a scheduling thing.

I believe Richie Hawtin is playing Creamfields this year - maybe it was his
choice not to play DEMF this year. Artists work in different ways and do
things for different reasons. He may for example want to preserve the memory
of the first?

Yes, there were plenty of people last year that
weren't given the opportunity to play. There just
weren't enough slots for all the talent. We should
be glad that we have enough talent in this city
to throw a three day festival with four stages and
still not have enough slots to cover even half of
the names we'd like to see. I was honored to play
last year, and twice honored because I was lucky
enough to play on the mainstage too. I had no
intention of playing this years DEMF and didn't
even submit my name for consideration, as did
many other artists from the area. Even in the
Planet E camp, I don't see Recloose, Moodyman, or
even Mr.Craig in the line-up. There are plenty
of musicians here that deserve to get their turn
too and I'm looking forward to seeing them play
this year.

See you in Hart Plaza...

It is a matter of taste, but most people would agree that Richie is
probably one of the most enthusiastic people about Detroit and his love

I think his set last year was less exciting than many of the other performers.
Not a diss, and not
to say I didn't enjoy it.. Just my totally subjective personal opinion. Please
don't set the evil
m-nus nanotech robots after me!

totally bummed about the fatboy slim thing,

I would just say buy his mix Cd and thats all you
 need.
I sure wish I would produce more music rather than
djing all the time, but I am
guessing the money is too good.

Hey now! I'm psyched as hell too! I'm proud to
live in the state of the orig
ination of my favorite type of music. Tons of sweet
 dj's and groups will perfor
m and I can't wait! I'm just saying... no Ritchie.
  Doesn't that blow? =)

BTW I never saw Derrick May last year so I'm
 psyched about that for sure.

last year, and twice honored because I was lucky
enough to play on the mainstage too. I had no

even submit my name for consideration, as did
many other artists from the area. Even in the
Planet E camp, I don't see Recloose, Moodyman, or
even Mr.Craig in the line-up. There are plenty
of musicians here that deserve to get their turn
too and I'm looking forward to seeing them play
 this year.

 See you in Hart Plaza...

Yes, let's all raise the cup. It's official! This is
the announcement of a festival, perhaps we should be
festive?

2001-03-29 Thread darw_n

I seriously doubt any future DEMF will have a closing set as incredible to
offer as his last year though.

Personally, I thought his set at last years was on the weaker side of
things.. It definitely was nice to see that many people, but musically, it
was so-so. I have it on CD too, and its even weaker in a stored format...
