RE: [313] Motor Rumors
Ok, let me quell some rumors. Seeing that my room mate (the hostess with the mostess..) works at motor I can say that motor moving is a rumor PERIOD and last time i looked (which was friday) Dan still owned the place. I am sure if they were going to move they would announce it and if they did have secret plans that no one knew about I am sure they would not have dropped 10 grand into redecorating the place last month. BTW, to answer someone's question about new years in Detroit bars: from my understanding, bars can stay open on NYE until 4am. Other than NYE, bars can stay open till 4 am in Detroit if they have a kitchen but (obviously) can only serve till 2. They are several places that use this loop hole, such as space {dryheave}, but I don't know if this is true in Hamtramck (were motor is). Also, regarding the police: Hamtramck is so broke that they can hardly afford police atm (they are in the process of deciding if they want to dissolve the police dept in the city and hire wayne county sheriffs instead) so seeing more than one patrol car in one place at the same time usually mandates a large explosion or dead bodies. I have been going there about every weekend for the last 8 months and never saw any cops waiting for people outside. On a side note, Hamtramck is WAY sketchy so if you are going to park far from the club do yourself a favor and dont walk alone, it seems that anytime anything happens within 15 blocks of the motor the club is blamed for it. r- -Original Message- From: Rob Theakston [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, November 28, 2001 8:56 AM To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: [313] Motor Rumors i don't know about the moose lodge rumors. but i know that dan sordyl is still owner of motor. kip winger is selling his pants on ebay. how nice: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemitem=1487496065 -Original Message- From: Paul Jenvey [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, November 28, 2001 8:44 AM To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: [313] Motor Rumors Quoting now-- Motor is surrounded by a residential neighborhood so it makes it very hard to stay open past 2am. You really can't make that -- On a side note, I hear Motor is being moved to the old Moose Lodge building downtown, and this is why they remodeled (to move the old decorations etc to the new spot). Does anyone know if there's any truth to this rumor? I also hear that one reason that the change is happening is because motor was bought out... anyone know if this is true, and by whom? - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I can second that. I've only been to Motor once for the Epoch party on NYE 2000, but that certainly was an experience (and not just because of the party). Catching a cab late at night in Hamtramck is near impossible. A bunch of us had to wait in the convenience store at the gas station there for almost 2 hours for a cab (at 4am). In addition, the gas station attendants said they had to lock the doors and turn off all the lights earlier that night because someone had fired a gunshot at the store. Even the cab we caught was sketchy (the cab driver was racist and didn't seem to notice red lights too well, someone had puked or _something_ in the back seat, and the wheel alignment on the cab was so out of whack that the driver had to keep the steering wheel turned 90 degrees in order to drive straight... no joke). g - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [313] Motor Rumors
I had the opposite result when I was at the Motor this summer. Gene Farris was listed (but as far as I know never was there), and whoever was playing bored me to tears, so i went to the Clock for late/early breakfast and went out and flagged down a taxi within 3 minutes. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Mr. Sordyl explained to me the everything was moving forward with the move to Detroit until the investors put everything on hold due to 9/11. -Miles -Original Message- From: Altitude [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, November 28, 2001 2:27 PM To: Rob Theakston; 313@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: [313] Motor Rumors Ok, let me quell some rumors. Re: [313] Motor Rumors
I never really thought of Hamtramck as scary. Any city that has a monument of the Pope is alright with me. Ive never had any problems around motor, granted I havent been there in a while. ah well. I think its that fear of Detroit spilling over into Hamtramck. 2cents. agci Original message Date: Wed, 28 Nov 2001 19:06:23 GMT From: Fred Heutte [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [313] Motor Rumors To: 313@hyperreal.org I had the opposite result when I was at the Motor this summer. I don't know about them moving or not, but I know that they didn't transport the old sound system downtown. It is the new sound system for Prontos in Ferndale from what I hear...
