Re: [313] Wanted: TR-808, an alternative
Yeah you can modify the 606 BD decay and make it more like an 808 BD plus i've always liked the 606s snare better than the 808s its harder\snappyer(is that a word?) =) - Original Message - From: synthetic detronik [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; 313@hyperreal.org Sent: Tuesday, May 16, 2000 2:21 PM Subject: [313] Wanted: TR-808, an alternative Sorry this post isn't music related. I'm looking to purchase a Roland TR-808 drum machine. Anyone selling? I know that this is once again off topic, however if it wasnt for these devices there would be no 313. If you have no luck finding an 808, i modify the more readilly available and cost effective TR-606. I can expand its capabilities beyond comprehension. the 606 bass drum becomes quite comparible to the 808. respectfully, Micho ::.:::.:.:::..:..:::.::.:::.:.::..::.:.:..: visuals ~ experimental audio ~ toy - instrument expansion ...:::.:.:::.:.:::.:.:..:...:.:...:::.:.:...:.::.:.::.. ::create : recreate : alter::: ::synthetic - detroit ::detronik contact info::.:.::..:. p: 248.407.8283 e: [EMAIL PROTECTED] e: [EMAIL PROTECTED] s: www.mp3.com/detronik Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I've been drooling over Xbase for some time now. It is a bit pricey, has limitations, but it has other qualities that I'm ready to pay for. People at Drummachine.com have said that the Xbase's snare imitates 909's snare poorly, doesn't even sound close like it, even though it otherwise has near-perfect 909 sounz... And beyond those. Strange. I had a 909 few years ago, sold it, and looking for it again! Proffit Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

i have a korg er-1 that i like very much...interesting realtime tweakable sounds, and the biggest plus...realtime sequencing. also i hear the quasimidi 309 is very good too...it adds basslines, monophonic synth sounds, as well as percussion. greg ¤ Greg Malcolm Twine/Twinesound Audio Productions http://www.inneractions.com/twine http://www.adastra-records.com http://www.zero1media.com http://www.mp3.com/twine http://pulserecords.com/twine 330.677.8332 [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://stations.mp3s.com/stations/56/3rdwave.html ¤ From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED], 313@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [313] Wanted: TR-808, an alternative Date: Tue, 16 May 2000 10:17:16 EDT In a message dated 5/16/00 9:22:19 AM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: I know that this is once again off topic, however if it wasnt for these devices there would be no 313. Re: [313] Wanted: TR-808, an alternative
The most common techno setup these days is the Akai MPC2000. Many producers also use a real TR909 and/or TR808. Production gear is a pretty personal choice. I know people who can program an Akai S2000 within an inch of it's life. I personally tend to to work mostly on the computer any more. I still use my outboard keyboards and modules, but I mostly play things with my actual fingers and sample it rather than try and sync or sequence it via MIDI. If you want my personal opinion, I dislike everything Roland has produced since about 1988, and hate everything Alesis has ever made, except for my Monitor Ones. The Emu samplers are excellent, and very deep if you're into programming patches. Nearly all the drum machines coming out now are pretty much toys for ravers. You're better off buying Fruity Loops for your PC. In fact the biggest trend I've seen for live techno is people bringing out laptops running Fruity Loops. It's deep and flexible enough to develop a personal style, it is very easy to use your own samples, and it doesn't require a super-high-end computer to work with. kent williams -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] On Tue, 16 May 2000 [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: In a message dated 5/16/00 9:22:19 AM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: I know that this is once again off topic, however if it wasnt for these devices there would be no 313. I use a quasimidi 309 in my music and I love it, It definitely adds some great background to my tracks.
