RE: (313) 313 list T Shirts for DEMF? ideas
Ooh, I've been watching this thread, thinking OK, it'd be nice to get one of these at some point when it's sorted what's happening. But not really thinking I'd chime in as I'm not going DEMF (and am busy listening to clips of the new Nubian Mindz). But I'm liking these a lot. In fact I was about to say I like the 2 sided map one so much I want to order one now even if other people don't and it costs me £££ to have a one off printed. Then I realise Manchester isn't on there. Shame on you Todd Sines! (goes off whistling Guy Called Gerald and 808 State ;-). Manchester is on it. The two sided (wrap) t-shirt has it on the front - right next to Sheffield and Grand Rapids (ha ha ha ha ha ha!) However, Minneapolis is not and we've got Prince. Okay, so someone said the more the merrier, so I'll post up a less technical looking (though a bit du jour I admit) option. It's a free font, my own script and a phrase that I think captures both the attitude and OT nature of the list at once (depending on whether you read it with or without the pause). Of course that's the artsy way of saying that I was laughing at the phrase in my head as I read the threads and thought, I should put that on a shirt. So I opened illustrator and there it is. http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/8854/313shirtcp9.jpg sure wish I could get JT to do a line drawing of like Kenny or mad mike to go on it. I was placing the list addy square across the front chest, which should put the other text block under your left tit/teat/pec. I like the font, and probably won't change anything much unless something really makes stupidly obvious sense to me. The real reason I did this one, was because I saw too much thought going into the rest. So consequentially, I won't think much further than I've gone with it (plus I like it). If you have a change, feel free to hook it up though *cough*$tinki*cough*. It'd be interesting to see what comes back. I still wanna see Todd's though. Yea the 313 tower looking design isn't bad. it does seem to 'pixelate' or approximate the text, like old ascii warez nfo files. Not that that's bad. It just looks a little aliased or something. I think the design is fine, although the GM reference raises a number of problematic associations concerning the company's relationship to Detroit (not to mention balance sheet, market share, offshoring, the lamea$$ comments by Bob Lutz about global warming, etc.). But hey, when you're talking about anything Detroit related, it's all about ambiguity and contradictions. So yeah, Martin's gotten us the postmodern 313 t-shirt design :) fh - GM exec stands by calling global warming a 'crock' Fri Feb 22, 2008 3:04pm EST (Editor's Note: This story contains language in paragraph 1 that may be offensive to some readers) DETROIT, Feb 22 (Reuters) - General Motors Corp (GM.N: Quote, Profile, Research) Vice Chairman Bob Lutz has defended remarks he made dismissing global warming as a total crock of sh1t, saying his views had no bearing on GM's commitment to build environmentally friendly vehicles. Lutz, GM's outspoken product development chief, has been under fire from Internet bloggers since last month when he was quoted as making the remark to reporters in Texas. In a posting on his GM blog on Thursday, Lutz said those spewing virtual vitriol at him for minimizing the threat of climate change were missing the big picture. What they should be doing in earnest is forming opinions, not about me but about GM and what this company is doing that is ... hugely beneficial to the causes they so enthusiastically claim to support, he said in a posting titled, Talk About a Crock. GM, the largest U.S. automaker by sales and market share, has been trying to change its image after taking years of heat for relying too much on sales of large sport-utility vehicles like the Hummer and not moving faster on fuel-saving hybrid technology. My thoughts on what has or hasn't been the cause of climate change have nothing to do with the decisions I make to advance the cause of General Motors, he wrote. Lutz said GM was continuing development of the battery-powered, plug-in Chevy Volt and other alternatives to traditional internal combustion engines. GM is racing against Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T: Quote, Profile, Research)(TM.N: Quote, Profile, Research) to be first to market a plug-in hybrid car that can be recharged at a standard electric outlet. Lutz has previously said GM made a mistake by allowing Toyota to seize the mantle of green respectability and technology leadership with its market-leading Prius hybrid. A 40-year auto industry veteran who joined GM earlier in the decade with a mandate to shake up its vehicle line-up, Lutz is no stranger to controversy. As part of a campaign against higher fuel economy standards, Lutz wrote in a 2006 blog posting that forcing automakers to sell smaller cars would be like trying to address the obesity problem in this country by forcing clothing manufacturers to sell smaller, tighter sizes. Automakers ended their opposition to higher fuel standards in 2007 when it became clear that proposed changes would become law with or without their support. In December, U.S. President George W. Bush signed a law mandating a 40 percent increase in fleetwide fuel economy by 2020, the first substantial change in three decades. (Reporting by Kevin Krolicki, editing by Toni Reinhold)

Well, I had heard some stories about him having loose relationships with some employees, but nothing like that! Thanks for that insight. The one shirt I do have - it was sent to me as a promo and it's comfortable. Never bought anything from them. Did go into the new shop they opened in my city this past weekend but honestly found it highly annoying, like their advertising (very bad 80s retro) after I left I was weighing whether ordering online would have less of an impact than if I had to drive/take bus to their shop anything to avoid going back there hipster yuppie shouldn't have anything to do with buying local and organic it's just trendy to do it at the moment which is a shame because that kind of action needs staying power like I said, I don't care who makes it I'll buy the shirt if it keeps in line with my sensibilities - AA doesn't so thanks for the info Tom so - in regard to a 313 t-shirt, prefer something not from AA please thank you MEK Thomas D.
