if u want a good elektro mix cd u might try this the elektro boogie
series from studio k7 label my favorites r : the second one by dave
clarke and the mix that did breakbeat master. j .soul kane aka depth
charge, this cd contains some great classic elektro stuff with the
twisted vibe only depth charge can make - as they write in hardwax -TIP!

yeah the depth charge mix is good - but i didnt think it was particularly
electro despite it's name - its is more industrial sounding imo but with
tainted love thrown in for good measure :)

ok, both of them were out on a double lp version, i remeber seeing the
dave clark couple of years ago in a second hand store in london, but i allways
prefer the 12 for spinning so i did not buy it.
the human track on the start is a superb track, made by mike oliver from
smallfish my guess is that they have it:)
for me the depth charge cd was great in that time i was quite into
breakbeat drumnbass and oldskool hiphop so it right in time.
i know he played there a dnb track at 33 insted of 45.

de ja vu..

Human was Lee Grainge's label and productions, not Mike Oliver! Mike records
as Remote on Smallfish's own label.

RE: [313] Electro CDs - Recommendations Pls

2002-04-23 Thread seth redmond
look out for the Radioactive Man album (forget the name). Not the most
driving electro but one of the best albums for a while all the same; for
that matter check out any of the later swordsmen stuff (esp Tiny Reminders
or Stay Down) this has the advantage that if you hate it, the house stuff on
these albums is second to none. Oh, and if you haven't already heard it
Drexciya's Neptune's Lair ('bout a year and a half old) was pretty damn
good, though I was a little unimpressed by the newest one.
Also try out nearly everything by Anthony Rother or Dopplereffect, and most
stuff on viewlexx (especially IF and Parallax corp), Disko-B and, of course,
Gigolos for the more, um, playful eighties sound.

Paul Innercity should be able to get copies of most of these, and Smallfish
will most likely have the Weatherall / Tenniswood ones...

happy hunting

Mindgames: Mindgames (H-Productions)

Came out about 6 months ago only to get rather lost in the shuffle. Cari
Lekebusch on a futuristic UR-styled hi-tech electro funk mission to bring
the breakdance back. Lots of tongue-in-cheek humour basslines to die for
(all IMHO, of course).

The Aux-88 Electroboogie mix slams hard as well. Grab the Aux-88 meets
Alien FM cd comp. with Bass Magnetic, My AUX Mind if you ever see
it, along with VA: Origins of a Sound/The Electro-Bass Sound of Detroit.

Wes
np: Adam Beyer: Stockholm Mix Sessions 3 (Turbo)--great to hear the Slater
mix of Kenny Larkin's Loop 2 dropped in here, along with a few other
Detroit goodies, a stupendous Soul Designer track. One of the best mixes
I've heard in ages, to corroborate what others have already said.
