tpr 001 insync vs mysteron - transform - 12
tpr 002 insync vs mysteron - these four walls - 12
tpr 003 wookey - who's listening - 12
tpr 004 insync vs mysteron - planetarium - 12
tpr 005 insync vs mysteron - android architect - cd

which leaves the question to me,
did this wookey guy release other stuff as well?
the tunes who's listening and in a midi are absolute classics!

I'm pretty sure this is Jaime (Jamie?) Read. He had a 3x12 LP called 'The
End of the Beginning' on Fragmented - all the tracks are very Insync vs.
Mysterons-esq, one or two are absolute gems, some of the others are a bit
meandering. All Detroit influenced UK techno style with some Larry Heard
thrown in.

I also have a 12 on Ugly Cutz by him called 'Incision' I think which is a
bit more dancefloor oriented.

The Wookey 12 with Insync is my favourite though.

Ignore, all the above if Jaime Read isn't Wookey but AFAIK he is.

I think you're right there. Jamie also did the LHAS (Larry Heard
Appreciation Society - what a genius pseudonym) releases, but seems to have
followed Insync by dropping off the map.

Sorry 'bout that - it's actually Insync, they've recorded with Mysteron
(Swayzak possibly?) for Peacefrog and Fat Cat. Last release I can find by
them from '97. Anyone with more info on Insync or the individual members is
encouraged to email me - thanks

There is a duo that go by the name Nsync that have recorded for Plink
Plonk, Fragmented, and Peacefrog - otherwise known as Lee Perkis and Chris
Hartley. Anyone know what they've been up to lately?

Yeah, that's right - Lee helped to start up Smallfish as well (the
replacement for Fat Cat), but ended up leaving the fold to work on other
stuff. He's involved with Pure Plastic and a range of other UK techno
shenanigans these days... his cheeky face is missed behind the counter at
Smallfish, and his enthusiastic scrawlings on the 12s from both Fat Cat and
Smallfish days are become just as collectable as the music itself (Another
solid 4-tracker from the UR boys..., More sampled funkie mayhem on the
Dance Mania setup, and his catchphrase: One to check!)...

nope, In Sync is indeed Lee Purkis

I mostly adore his output on Irdial and next to that there are four 12es
and one album on his own Tenth Planet label..

.. and Mysteron ain't Swayzak

but the last thing I heard, he's quit producing etc

Lee has been involved in a number of projects, but not Insync AFAIK (disclaimer
applies). I currenlty have the misfortune ;-) of sharing a flat with Lee and
every now and then I'll notice he has co-credits on a track.. usually with
Steve O'Sullivan but I'm sure there's others out there too.

I know someone who knows the Insync guys and vaguely remember talk of new
material slated for a label that never got going.. I'll see if I can get more
info but it might take some time. The first Insyn vs Mysteron EP on Fat Cat
is a blinder, proper UK techno, like they used to do in the old days but my
copy has a dirty great scratch over the best track and I haven't been able to
find another, anyone?

cheers,
Nic

2002-04-23 Thread brendan . nelson
I'd definitely pay slightly extra for a 12 with a Fat Cat sticker and some
of Lee's scrawlings - preferably in thick permanent marker rather than biro!
Not sure if I'd pay for a scrawling on its own, but given the choice between
a scrawled 12 and a non-scrawled 12 I'd pay a quid or two more for the
scrawls...

Someone I know (not me, honest) was planning to scan in all the scrawlings
they could get and upload them to a website somewhere - anyone who shopped
in Fat Cat while it was open would no doubt get a hit of nostalgia from
that. One to check!

Memo from Alex Bond of PricewaterhouseCoopers

 Start of message text

Hmm, while we're on the subject,

Lee Insync was a very good dj, I remember many a good record being played
by him.
I have a vivid memory of a new years eve Lost, (1994?) at an old ice cream
factory in Battersea, I remember him playing 'Search your feelings' by
M500/Martian and me going absolutely bonkers.

When I used to have the club, I was always saying, oh, we need to get Lee
Insync to play, never realising that Lee Grainge and Lee Insync were the
same person. D'oh! and in fact Lee Grainge did play at our club.

Are they deffo the same person? I'd be interested
