what the f even happened to alex? I'd trade 5 of you deadbeat stillbirths to have him back with some regularity :p - Original Message - From: David Beattie [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: robin [EMAIL PROTECTED]; 313 313@hyperreal.org Sent: Monday, October 16, 2006 7:45 AM Subject: Re: (313) 3 Chairs, Manchester Just to echo what Robin said (although I think you missed Malik doing the first 1.5 hours of the night). I dont get why he goes on first, he was killing it, then Theo came on and someone really does have to tell him that a bit of EQing is OK but stop it with the Stevie Wonder impressions and get on with playing records. KDJ was what I expected, perhaps a bit better even to be honest, good tunes but no real structure or direction. Wilhite was really good too - but the star of the show for me was Malik, no doubt. Good to meet Robin, Francis, Nick and Dan and also catch up with Alex ACME Bond again. Might come down for another one of these Warehouse parties before the end of the year. Got there and the PA was initially disappointing but it was possible to get close enough to hear it properly. Theo and Moodymann were ok though mr. kdj does like name-checking the town a little too often helllooo mnchester :). Their styles are a little too broken up for me, obviously some like this and in fact they were fine as warm up. Then came Malik Pittman who was in a different league altogether. House, techno he was all over it with that hands on approach that all our lot love. Rick Wilhite wasn't too shabby either going back to back with Malik. They all seemed to be having fun too which is not something you always see. Was also good to see some familiar names too. BT, Dan Bean, Aidy (if you're on here). Shame I didn't get chance to chat to you quite as much as I'd liked. robin...

Re: (313) 3 Chairs, Manchester
the one he plays on gilles' show is called synthesizer as ar as i know, with a twisted acid bline that seems to loop in a mixture of 4/5 and 6 beats? - i can't quite make it out! raw as hell though. it doesn't slow down on that mix though... if you wanna hear it , mail me or there's a clip of him playing it at lovebox right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzcArlHqftE someone got short shrift on sunday at plastic when he asked theo to play it.. Well tracked down Francis - I picked that up the other week too but in my defence I havnt had a chance to check it yet. As for blaming me - fair play, I can take it ;-)) - Original Message From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313@Hyperreal.Org 313@hyperreal.org Sent: Tuesday, 17 October, 2006 3:16:36 PM Subject: FW: (313) 3 Chairs, Manchester Doh! Aidy has remembered what it is. A Mike Dearborn record. Sexual XPerience original mix off this http://www.discogs.com/release/656423 And I already have it. Davy I blame you for this as this was exactly the scenario you related with you asking Martin from Rub-a-Dub about a record he was playing. I can't wait to get home to check this. -Original Message- From: David Beattie [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 17 October 2006 14:50 To: 313@Hyperreal.Org Subject: Re: FW: (313) 3 Chairs, Manchester There were a few proper techno tracks (nice surprise to me), I dont recall the one the was slowed down but I remember Jonny Abstract talking to me about some mental stuff going on that he thought was Rob Hood?? there was another track that really stood out that Theo dropped, had a kind of wasp noise buzzing on it, I asked a few people (Dan, Alex and Lee Bolton) and drew blank looks but id like to know what that one was - perhaps that was the Terry Hunter thing, will look into it. - Original Message From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] It was later on (when Theo, Malik and Rick were playing a few tunes each) when I was at the back he played the one I'm on about. I'd say it was the most full on proper techno club track all night. Here's the elusive Aidy of Vinyl Underground's take: that track theo played that slowed down wasag! i forgotten , its been in my head , its an old chicago thing maybe on the Terry Hunter Madness ep ~~(muzique )
Re: (313) 3 Chairs, Manchester
Good to see BT was there, learning about soul and stuff. No more crappy progressive house and bad boy band pop then hopefully. Next time maybe he can take some mates like Oakey. How did you convince him to fly all the way over LA and go to Manch? spect! Was also good to see some familiar names too. BT, Dan Bean, Aidy (if you're on here). Shame I didn't get chance to chat to you quite as much as I'd liked.
