Ah Hah! I'm just now able to check my 313 mail and gosh, I knew something was fishy when I noticed that the Michigan State Fair marque was blank today as I was going by it, when all week it was saying MekkaElectronic Musicfest...Aug 4th in lights. I'm at the wayne metro airport later on heading home to chicago and the gate agent was even talking about going to mekka. Little does he know... Too much, too big, too fast. Was the ticket price too much of a shock, the timing too close after Area:One, was it that people don't care to support a greedy corporate empire such as SFX, or inadequate promotion that spurred the abysmal ticket sales and abortion of something overpromised and underdelivered? We'll likely never know. Sure things aren't. They've learned that now. Hopefully they'll abandon agencies like SFX in the future and direct their attentions to smaller one-off events; perhaps more success will be forthcoming and all this talk of caring and community they belch will actually exist instead of huge corporate interests and mega (or should that be mekka) dollar signs. Chicago and St Luis were replaced by dates in Minniapolis and Seattle. Check www.mekkatour.com plus you can still get tickets on ticketmaster. I hope they post if the whole thing gets cancelled, cause us out-of-staters would be out of some loot otherwise. Cheers! Info 952-996-9298 Here is the breakdown on how the party will be set... ---18 + tix will be $25 and $30 in advance, $35 at the door, and you will have access to all four rooms for the whole night. 21+ (with valid id) will have access to a full bar) ---16, 17 year olds: all tix will be $20, sold at the event only, no presales. You will have access to one of the main rooms from 6 pm-11 pm. Due to curfew restrictions, that was the best we could do. We wanted to provide something, so here it is. We will supply a couple of the headliners in this main room, while the rest of the headliners will play on the other systems. This room will be a full main room setup. At 11 PM, all 16 + 17 year olds must exit, and we will shut down this room, so from 11 pm -5 am we will run 3 rooms of sound and visuals. The production and cost for this event is monstrous, and we are banking on the size of the scene to have a killer party!
