Excellent work.

My only comment is a very minor one, with the standard itself (I just
noticed this bug (?) in abcm2ps) -- !mp! is not in the list of dynamics.
In addition, you might mention that in lyrics, the backslash mark must
occur at the end of the line in order for it to be a continuation
character.

OK, I'll have a look at it.

Not exactly, it is a description of what abc2mtex does.

What I meant is: why not starting with that LaTeX file (it was a clean
and well structured document) and modify it according to the evolving
standard (if I remember, the old standard was a stripped down text
version of that document)?

But if you use an up-to-date version of GhostView it looks fine. Or
if you print it from Acrobat reader.

Both the LaTeX file and the Makefile that produces the pdf file are in
the SourceForge CVS repository. So if you want to make improvements,
feel free.

Because those aren't the recognized standard. They're a very good
description of what abc2ps does, but that's not what we're aiming for.

Thanks to you and the committee for your work on the abc standard...but
the PDF file is very ugly in Acrobat Reader. You should have used a
more up to date version of GhostScript (5.50 is very old now and 6.0
does a better job) and type I PostScript fonts.

(pdf)LaTeX is really a very elegant way to produce PDF documents. With
the hyperref package, you can easily get a smart PDF with bookmarks,
hyperlinks...

If it can help, send me off list your tex source so I can show you a
demo of that.

BTW, why not starting from the 'usrguide.tex' in the abc2mtex
distribution from Chris?

Great stuff.

As someone has been mentioned previously, it would be useful to ask
Chris to link through to this site from the abc home page - at the
moment there is no link to the sourceforge from the abc home page, and
that's a poor situation for the average (eg not involved in the abcusers
list and / or sourceforge) abc user if the sourceforge is going to be
where future developments happen

[abcusers] ABC standards committee webpage

2001-03-15 Thread Laura Conrad

Those interested in the work of the ABC standards committee, or who
want a current copy of the ABC standard or the proposed standard,
should go to http://abc.sourceforge.net/standard.html.

The proposed standard differs in only fairly minor ways (aside from
formatting) from the old abc-draft.txt, but will acquire more
differences as we figure out how to get it into shape so that we would
vote for it (and hopefully so that other people on abcusers will vote
for it).

I welcome comments, bug reports, etc. on the new formatting; it was a
non-trivial job, and may still have errors in it.
