Say all command will stop reading in qquick office if you have
implemented automatic lockout or screen saver.
Increase your time of screen saver and lockout.

Thanks,

[AI] Copying/pasting by leaving the middle portion

2008-01-23 Thread Shadab Husain
Hi Friends - Is there any way of copying text by skipping the middle
parts of the same page in one step? For example I have to skip the
quoted part of this:

I am writing "to explain that I have to only choose the unquoted part"
and not the part "which is in the quotes to copy and paste" in a
single stroke. "I am not sure if there is any way of doing it" - but
if there is any, then I will be happy.

Regards,

Shadab Husain

[AI] TOP MICROSOFT OFFICE 2007 TIPS

2008-01-23 Thread Mamta
TOP MICROSOFT OFFICE 2007 TIPS
Office 2007 is loaded with many new features to help make life easier and
enhance your experience. Here are twelve tips and hints you may find useful
to
use.

table with 2 columns and 5 rows nesting level 1
1.
If you send a document for review to several reviewers, and each reviewer
returns the document, you can combine the documents two at a time until all
the
reviewer changes have been incorporated into a single document.
2.
Did you know with Excel 2007 you can enjoy increased spreadsheet row and
column capacity of 1 million rows by 16,000 columns that enables you to
import
and work with massive amounts of data and achieve faster calculation
performance with support for dual or multicore processors.
3.
Have you heard of SmartArt? They're new in Office 2007 (Excel, Outlook,
PowerPoint and Word) and are a visual representation of your information and
ideas.
You can create SmartArt graphics by choosing from among many different
layouts to quickly, easily, and effectively communicate your message.
4.
Save hours by applying Themes to your documents. Changing the theme of your
presentation not only changes the background color but also the colors,
styles,
and fonts of the diagrams, tables, charts, shapes, and text within your
presentation. By applying a theme, you can be confident that your entire
presentation
has a professional and consistent look and feel.
5.
Customise your Office Online experience by signing into 'My Office Online'.
It will allow you to customise your experience, submit to community
templates
and enable you to join the Outlook Calendar Sharing Service where you can
share you calendars with coworkers, friends and family.

LOSING INFORMATION? BEAT THE PROBLEM
SAVE, DESPITE A POWER CUT
Do you often find that you've lost a lot of information from a recovered
document after a power cut? You can minimize this problem by making a few
changes.
First let us tell you why this happens. The amount of new information that
the recovered document contains depends on how frequently Word saves the
recovery
file. For example, if the recovery file is saved only every 15 minutes, then
up to 15 minutes of work can be lost if a power failure or similar problem
occurs. To change the Auto Recover, save interval open Microsoft Word like
you would always do to open or create a new file. Then go to the `Tools'
function
and select `Options' from the menu. Select `Save' in the dialog box that
appears. Then enter or select the number of minutes in intervals of which
your
document will be automatically saved.

TURNING YOUR PC ON AND OFF
PC users who have a problem machine, especially a system that hangs, often
tend to just turn the PC on and off to make it work. This is simply
DISASTROUS
and will only cause the system to deteriorate rapidly. When you turn the
power off always wait for at least a minute before turning it on again. This
allows
the hard disk to settle down before it is made to spin up again. Otherwise
the hard disk goes through jerks and you are reducing its life and
performance
efficiency significantly. Also, do not forget the `Reset' button on your PC.
It is better to use this than to turn the PC--and therefore the power--on
and off.

Password-Protect Your Screen Saver
Don't want nosy neighbors meddling in your business when you step away from
your computer? A screen saver will stop the passers-by (unless they can get
close enough to bump your mouse), but a password-protected screen saver is
even better.

Right-click the desktop and select Properties to open the Display Properties
dialog box. Click the Screen Saver tab, select Password Protected, then
click
the Change button and enter a password twice. Click OK and you'll see a
dialog box telling you the password has been changed. Click OK two more
times.

The next time your screen saver kicks in and anyone (including you) tries to
get past it, it'll be a no go without the password. So make sure you don't
forget your password!

How To Test Audio On Your CD
If you cannot hear CD-ROM audio on your machine, play a music-only CD and
monitor the output via the front-panel headphone jack. If that works, you
know
the drive is okay.

Next, run a cable from the headphone jack to the line input on the
soundcard. Now adjust the mixer's line level and master level. If that works
too, the
soundcard is also okay and the problem is probably in the separate audio,
the only link between the CD-ROM drive and the soundcard.

Remember, the only audio you will hear from the drive's headphone is
conventional CD audio. MIDI and WAV files on a CD-ROM disk will not be heard
via the
headphone jack.

Turn Window and Menu Animation On and off
If you've used Windows 95 in the past, you might notice now that opening
menus look different in Windows 98 than you're used to. You're not imagining
it.
Menus now slide out from the menu bar. When you right-click an item, a menu
zooms o

PRODUCT NEWS

Code Factory is the only software developer to offer Nokia’s High Quality
built-in Text-to-Speech as a free second voice, available to all users of
Mobile Speak

Version 3.32 of Mobile Speak provides a new voice called "Nokia" and, on
phones that support the high quality Nokia voice, another called "NokiaHQ".
The standard "Nokia" voices are shipped with all phones using the 3rd
Edition of the Symbian operating system. The high quality "NokiaHQ" voices
are available on Nokia E50, Nokia E51, Nokia E65, Nokia E90 Communicator,
Nokia N75, Nokia N81, Nokia 5500 Sport, Nokia 5700 XpressMusic, Nokia 6110
Navigator, Nokia 6120 classic and Nokia 6290. Additional “NokiaHQ” voices
may also be downloaded on to these selected phones from the Nokia website at
http://europe.nokia.com/A4286225. The Standard Quality TTS will
automatically switch languages to match the phone language. The High Quality
TTS can be configured to use a specific language or have its speed and
volume modified via the "Speech" application, usually located in the phone’s
Settings folder.

“We at Code Factory have always been impressed by Nokia’s commitment to
accessibility. We know that the TTS engine our users work with, and how it
sounds, are important factors in how easy it is to use a talking mobile
phone, and we are very pleased that users of Mobile Speak can enjoy Nokia’s
excellent Text-to-Speech product free of charge.” said Eduard Sánchez, CEO
of Code Factory.

We've created a simple process for obtaining the free licence for the Nokia
TTS. To get the free license, users of Mobile Speak need only Go to
http://www.codefactory.info/partner_community/front/nokia_tts.asp to
generate a license code. Users may also wish to visit
http://www.codefactory.es/additional_docs/en/nokiaTTS_EN.html to read our
FAQ. To read the announcement of Mobile Speak for Symbian Phones V3.32
featuring Nokia’s voices, visit http://www.codefactory.es/en/press.asp?id=60

Mobile Daisy Player v2.0, join the beta team

On December 12th, we announced the upcoming release of V2.0 of Mobile Daisy
Player and invited users to participate in the beta program which will start
before the end of January 2008.

This new version represents a leap forward in the playing of books on mobile
devices, and contains many new features designed to streamline usability and
support more books than ever before.

Here are just some of the highlights of Mobile Daisy Player 2:

* Support for both Daisy 2.0 and Daisy 3.0 books, opening up a wider
selection of content from many more sources.

* Support for the largest number, and widest range, of text-to-speech
engines in the industry, enabling access to text-only, audio-only, and
mixed-mode books.

* Variable-speed playback, allowing the audio content of the book to
be listened to at a speed either faster or slower than the original speed of
the recording without changing the pitch of the audio.

* Direct-to-phone transfer of books, allowing the user to copy the
Daisy book contents directly to the phone’s memory card, without requiring
any separate installation step as in previous versions.

* Auto-resume feature creates a bookmark when stopping playback or
closing a book, allowing you to pick up exactly where you left off.

Mobile Daisy Player 2.0 will be available for both Symbian and Windows
Mobile platforms.

If you are interested in beta testing Mobile Daisy Player 2.0, please send
your information (name, email address, phone model and IMEI number) to

[AI] Fw: A Trojan Horse that targets Blindness Products

This was brought to our attention by a customer, and we thought you
should know about it.

There is apparently a trojan horse (that's a particularly nasty
variety of malware) that disables a variety of products for people
with disabilities, but particularly JAWS, WindowEyes, Microsoft
Narrator, HAL, and Kurzweil. It was masquerading as a crack to
disable the software protection features of JAWS 9.0. See
http://www.sophos.com/security/blog/2008/01/998.html for additional
information.

Hi Friends - Is there any way of copying text by
skipping the middle
parts of the same page in one step? For example I have
to skip the
quoted part of this:

I am writing "to explain that I have to only choose
the unquoted part"
and not the part "which is in the quotes to copy and
paste" in a
single stroke. "I am not sure if there is any way of
doing it" - but
if there is any, then I will be happy.

Shadab Husain

Re: [AI] Fw: A Trojan Horse that targets Blindness Products

2008-01-23 Thread Mamta
Thanks a lot for this vorning!

How ever for those who want to read about this here is the content pasted
below:

17 January 2008 16:29 GMT

Blind computer users struck by a very unusual Trojan attack

While I was
investigating
 reports of the
Troj/Mbroot-A
Master Boot Record rootkit I decided to follow up on a suggestion seen on a
mailing list. It was suggested that an incident described on
ZoneBBS
forum may be related to the MBR trojan I was initially looking for.

The thread contains a number of posts submitted by several very distressed
forum members. According to their reports, they have been unable to use
their
Windows computers since Boxing Day. The news itself would not be very
interesting if the forum members complaining about these incidents were not
blind.
Their computers were rendered unusable because the software used to read the
screen text and convert it to speech suddenly stopped working. An
interesting
thing was that not all users were using the same screen reader software.

I was quite keen to help, but the users had already managed to pinpoint the
culprit. It was a fake crack for
JAWS 9.0
screen reader software, one of the most popular screen readers. Allegedly,
the crack did not just patch the JAWS executables to allow them to run
without
a legitimate licence, but it also installed a Trojan targeting JAWS and
other popular screen readers.

Thanks to
Ryan Smith
, a developer of accessible games who also created a tool to help the users
prevent the Trojan, I have managed to get the offending file. When I run it
through our automated analysis system I could immediately see that the patch
installs more than one would hope for. Three additional files were
installed,
two executables - mci32.exe in Windows and svchost.exe in the Windows\Config
folder. Furthermore, there was a DLL named securityService.dll in the System
folder. Suspicious registry activity triggered the detection in the
HIPS
 portion of Sophos Anti-Virus 7.

killjws2.jpg

The dropped DLL was also registered with Winlogon process so that the
malicious code was loaded early during the logon process.

I started the disassembly with interest. It soon became clear that this was
a very unusual and well-executed attack targeting blind people. The
attention
to detail and the programming style implies that the attacker was skilled,
possibly a professional programmer.

As with some other advanced malware, the Trojan processes are protected by
each other. The securityService.dll is protecting svchost.exe so it can not
be
terminated using standard tools such as Task Manager and svchost shields
mci32.exe from deletion. This is a protection chain similar to the one seen
in
some earlier variants of Troj/Zlob. Furthermore, the securityService.dll
registered a handler function which will get notified if the Registry key
"HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\securityService" is changed and restore
its previous values.

In other words, the removal of this beast is quite difficult, even if the
person cleaning up the system was not blind. The best thing would be to
reboot
the system from a clean bootable media and remove all offending files, but
that may be out of the question since the accessibility features in most
Linux
bootable CD distributions are not very good. The next best thing is to
install an anti-virus software that can remove the Trojan. Sophos Anti-Virus
7 detects
it as
Troj/KillJWS-A
and it can successfully remove the Trojan.

Next thing I wanted to check was the payload. If the discussion on ZoneBBS
was correct, the Trojan would prevent screen readers from working on 26
December
2007. I started looking for the time comparison and it did not take too long
to find this code snippet:

Disassembly Troj/KillJWS-A

The payload trigger time is compared with the current system time converted
to the number of seconds expired since 1 January 1970. When converted to
system
time, the long value used for comparison is exactly 26 December 2007 at 0:00
and the payload will be launched if the current system time is later than
the trigger time. The payload is relatively simple. The payload function
enumerates all processes and compares the names of the running processes
with
a list of processes containing several well known text-to-speech programs
such as Jaws, Windows Eyes, Microsoft Narrator, HAL Screen Reader and
Kurzweil.

Overall, this attack left me questioning the attacker's morality as it is
really difficult to imagine what would be the motivation for an attack like
this
one. The attack does not seem to be financially motivated, although one may
think that the intention was to "punish" people using illegal copies of JAWS
software. All this makes me think that long prison sentences for malware
writers conducting attacks such as this one are not harsh as I used to
believe.

[AI] (Tech Dose of the Day) Podcast, WinFX (.NET Framework 3.0), Spamdexing, HTTPS,  blog, Android, Symbian OS, and much much more!

2008-01-23 Thread vishnu ramchandani
Tech Dose of the Day

Podcast, WinFX(.NET Framework 3.0), Spamdexing, HTTPS,
blog, Android and Symbian OS.

Contributed by M&E (Media & Entertainment Delivery)
Group (MphasiS Software Services)

Podcast
What is a Podcast?
This has been the latest kid on the internet block.
The word Podcast refers to an audio file which is
available as a broadcast over the internet. The term
arises from the words I’Pod’ and Broad’cast’.
Though it has reference to the Ipod, you don’t
necessarily need an Ipod to listen to a Podcast. Any
audio/mp3 player will do the task provided the audio
format is supported on it. In other words, the podcast
is just the RSS feed for audio files.
Also, you can get the latest Podcasts by subscribing
to them on the internet from various websites.
Podcasting is the art of making Podcasts available on
the internet.
Now for the practical part, try these simple steps –
[You may try this out at home.]
1. Go to
http://www.news.com/2324-11424_3-6222198.html
, it is an article about Podcast and Gaming.
2. Click on the “Download mp3” link on the page.
3. Save the mp3 file onto your computer (You can
transfer it to your mp3 player later).
4. Listen to your first Podcast..!!
Simple, isn’t it..?!!
What is its usefulness?
Note that, your favorite songs may not fall under the
category of Podcasts. But an audio book or a news
report can be termed as one.
For techies, reading a technical article of 100 pages
might be a boring thing to do. What then? Get a
podcast of the same article from the web onto your MP3
player and you can listen to it on the go..! Note that
not all articles are available as Podcasts.
Pros -
1. Easy to download, carry around and listen.
2. No software required for normal mp3 players. [But
if you use an Ipod, you’ll need iTunes software.]
Cons -
1. Not many articles are available as Podcasts.

WinFX(.NET Framework 3.0)
What is WinFX?
WinFX (pronounced as Win Effects) is an All-Managed,
next generation API introduced in Longhorn(Windows
Vista and Windows Server 2008). In Longhorn, Win32
will no longer be the primary API. It is however still
continued for backward compatibility. WinFX has been a
significant milestone in the history of Windows API.
It puts .NET at the center of the platform as against
the traditional C-style API.  Rather put in simple
words, WinFX is the set of APIs that a developer can
use to write Windows application in Longhorn. To view
the .NET Framework as being merely a wrapper around
Win32 is to ignore a large part of the benefit that it
offers. WinFX will not need to have a Win32 API to
wrap itself around, as it will directly be able to
access the low-level API, just as Win32 does today.
What is its usefulness?
The WinFX makes its point clear: managed code is the
way of the future. It is the API used to write the
next generation of Windows applications. Today’s .NET
Applications will still be able to run without
modifications on Longhorn. Longhorn applications will
now be managed (though we can still write unmanaged
applications using Win32). It provides a ubiquitous
solution across process, applications, networks and
other communication boundaries. It will allow
developers to churn out better applications faster.

Spamdexing
What is Spamdexing?
Spamdexing, coined from spam and index, is the
practice of including information in a Web page that
causes search engines to index it in some way that
produces results that satisfy the spamdexer but
usually dissatisify the search engine providers and
users. When the extraneous information appears in a
page's meta tags, it is called "overstuffing".
Some examples of spamdexing and overstuffing:
Including a key word dozens or even hundreds of times
on a Web page so that a search engine will weigh the
relevance of this page to the subject word more
heavily than pages on other Web sites. The subject
words are usually placed at the very end of the page
out of the reader's way or can even be made invisible
to the reader (but readable by the search indexing
program).
Including one or more subject words that are totally
unrelated to the subject of the Web site for the
purpose of getting people to visit the site. In a
typical example, a word might be listed as a key word
(or spamdexed at the bottom of the page) on a site
that really sells books on "highly effective sales
techniques."
Punishing someone by including their name as a key
word on a site with which they have no connection or
even a contentious connection.

Re: [AI] Copying/pasting by leaving the middle portion

2008-01-23 Thread Shadab Husain
Hi Sir, Thank you for responding - but sorry I really cannot
understand it. I must try making the thing clearer.

When I need taking out three lines from different places of the same
file to paste it on another file, I move between the two files for
three times. But I want to select all the three lines in one time
instead of moving between the files for three times. Once I have
selected those three lines, I will simply move on to the file where I
have to paste the text and I will do it in one time instead of moving
between the files for three times.

I am sorry that I still couldn't clarify it. Regards, Shadab Husain

But this command is not working in only quick word or any other

Also what is the version of your talks.

Re: [AI] Copying/pasting by leaving the middle portion

2008-01-23 Thread Chaodhari, Sanjeev IN BOM SISL
You can select and copy first line by ctrl+c and select and copy another
lines by windows+c
Then move to desire location and paste ones whatever you have copied.
You will have to move to another file only once.

Thanks,

Subject: Re: [AI] Copying/pasting by leaving the middle portion

Hi Sir, Thank you for responding - but sorry I really cannot
understand it. I must try making the thing clearer.

When I need taking out three lines from different places of the same
file to paste it on another file, I move between the two files for
three times. But I want to select all the three lines in one time
instead of moving between the files for three times. Once I have
selected those three lines, I will simply move on to the file where I
have to paste the text and I will do it in one time instead of moving
between the files for three times.

I am sorry that I still couldn't clarify it. Regards, Shadab Husain
