[AI] Problem about Unusuable USB Port and Unknown Device.
Hello, I am getting an error message from this morning on my home pc. The text of the message is, One or more devices are malfunctioning. Try to reconnect the device or reinstall it. Two devices are shown: unusuable USB port and some unknown device. I have checked the device manager and disabled the unknown device. There is nothing like an unusuable port. [AI] SC broadens scope of consumer Act
The Supreme Court has said buyers of goods or commodities for ''self consumption'' in economic activities in which they are engaged would be ''consumers'' for the purpose of claim of damages under the provision of the Consumer Protection Act. In a ruling on Friday, a bench comprising Justice SB Sinha and Justice Deepak Verma said, buyers of goods or commodities for ''self consumption'' in economic activities in which they are engaged would be consumers as defined in the Act (Consumer Protection Act, 1986). The immediate purpose as distinct from the ultimate purpose of purchase, sale in the same form or after conversion and a direct nexus with profit or loss would be the determinants of the character of a transaction-- whether it is for a ''commercial purpose'' or not, the court said. The court further said that while enacting the provision of the Act, Parliament wanted to exclude from the scope of the definition (of consumer) the persons who obtain goods for resale and also those who purchase goods with a view to use them for carrying on any activity for earning. The legal heirs of the purchaser of a truck had come to the apex court seeking damages due to delayed delivery of the necessary papers of the truck. It was auctioned to him on account of default in payment of instalments committed by its previous owner. The court said the appellant had mentioned categorically that he had bought the truck to be used exclusively by him for the purpose of earning his livelihood, by means of self-employment. Even if he was to employ a driver for running the truck, it would not have changed the matter in any case, as even then appellant would have continued to earn his livelihood from it and, of course, by means of self-employment, court said. [AI] RBI wants to regulate housing finance firms
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has added a rider for offloading its stake in the National Housing Bank (NHB) to the government by suggesting it handle the regulation, licensing and supervision of housing companies to provide banks and housing finance companies a level playing field. Housing finance companies are currently regulated by NHB, which is, in turn, regulated by RBI. NHB is wholly-owned by RBI. Sources close to the developments said the government is yet to take a decision on the suggestion since RBI's proposal has met with some opposition. Ownership of NHB will give the government greater say in the boards of housing finance institutions and flexibility to issue directions to meet its priority sector credit objectives. RBI sources said the need for regulating housing companies arise because they do not have prudential guidelines or risk-linked capital limits to which banks, which come under the central bank's purview, are subject. Dear Friend, Previously, all the handicapped persons who are purchasing the current booking ticket could travel in the handicapped coach. Therefore, it was a general coach for disabled. Now, I heard from Access India friends that it has been announced as reservation coach for the handicapped persons that means according to my knowledge, the persons who are reserving the tickets only can travel in the handicapped coach and therefore, again, we have been forced to struggle with the normal people at peak times and the luxury of handicapped coach is denied. See, we dont use norton for compressing or decompressing files. We use winrar or winzip for this purpose. If you need to compress file, go to file menu, and choose, add to archive... and if you want to decompress go to file menu, and choose extract. Hope its much clear. I don't scan my pc regularly. I thought it a virus too because the problem was gone for some time after I scanned my pc. But it reappeared. 1. It is really sad to know that even people in AI are laboring under a misconception that disabled coach in railways is used only by orthopeddically handicapped. I think this confusion is the result of employing the term handicapped instead of disability, and this confusion is widespread from santri to mantri.
