Dear Sir,

This is to inform you all that the convention of the audio magazine
'listeners' club' was held at the BPA, Ahmedabad on 17th August, 2009.
There were speeches of two well-known teachers of English here in
Gujarat--Dipti Shah and Mr Narendra Pandya. There were really excellent.
We all appreciated very much the excellent contribution of Mrs Tina
Parekh. It is quite clear that it is only she who single-handedly runs the
magazine.

Dear Sir,

Let me tell you that the magazine can be received in a CD every month on
the payment of Rs120 as the annual subscription to the BPA. Mr Ranchhod
Soni is the co-editor and manages all the matters regarding this magazine.
You can contact him on: 9925450866.

With a lot of thanks.

2009-08-27 Thread Dinesh Kaushal
I would like to commend the effort of BPA Ahmedabad, in producing such a
good magazine. The purpose is to promote learning of English, but it seems
to be doing more than that. One may get an idea from the table of contents
of the August issue.

Along with many of these stories, word meanings are also given.

1 Editors notes, Contents and Messages from readers and contributers
2 Quotes,quiz, and interesting facts
3 Bio of michael Jackson
4 Unsung heroes: Stories of cycle race champion Lance Armstrong who inspite
of cancer continued cycling, and Nick Vujicic who was born without limbs.
5 Environmental issues
6 Classic tales: The shelter by R.K. Narayan and couple of more stories
7 Inspiring stories: a story about contentment and another about peace and
yet another about a man who could not get admission in Visvesvaraya National
Institute of Technology, Nagpur.
8 Learning english
9 Q&A
10 Health plus
11 Anecdotes: from the lives of famous people, George Bernard Shaw, Harry
Truman, Ramkrishna Paramhans, Sister Leocadia, and Abraham Lincoln.
12 Poems
13 Jokes
14 Answer of quiz
15 Stories that stir
16 Travel world
17 Abbreviations
18 The play: Tansen the great musician
19 Ronald Reagan speech: a time for choosing
20 Songs
21 Biographies: All the biographies that had appeared in earlier issues.

Re: [AI] Drivers needed for mother board.

2009-08-27 Thread Amar Jain
Respected Sir,

My suggestion would be to go to manufacturer's site and search for the
drivers. So in this case it will be intel.
The website of Intel is:

www.intel.com

I think, the below given URL should take you to the download center of intel
from where you can see what you want.

www.downloadcenter.intel.com

If still facing problems, then open intel home page, look for something like
support or drivers and manuals link on home page. Or it will be there after
clicking on support link.

You can also type your model number of mother board in google and type
drivers after that. You should get the result.

So first thing for getting started is to see your model number of mother
board.

Hope it helps somewhat.

Regards,

Amar Jain.

[AI] a humiliating experiance... how should we react???

2009-08-27 Thread suman bhokray
dear access indians
i would like to share my very bad experience of opening a current
account with axis bank.
it all started when i approached axis bank to open an account.
they refused to do so. when in asked them the reason for their refusal
they said that they dont open an account for visually impaird people.
then i showed them RBI and IBA circulars which says that all the banks
should accept a visually impaird person by taking their finger prints.
thanks to rohit patel for forwording me those circulars. after taking
a week's time the axis bank officials told me that it is not possible
to open an account in their bank.
1st of all they were not believing that i am visually impaird. i felt
very humiliating by the way they were asking questions. i would like
to clarify that i am totally blind due to bilateral retinal
deteachmant.
so my friends i would like to take suggesions and advise from you guys
in what best can be done.

[AI] Anybody using google docs?

2009-08-27 Thread Amar Jain
Friends,

I wish to put a contact form on my website. Previously I created a php script
for processing the form data and to email me the same.
The problem with that script was that I was getting the mails but the message
body was blank. After looking into the html source of that message, I found
that my specified message of php was there but no input submited by visitor was
visible to me.

I tried my best to solve this problem. But to be honest, in my whole 6/7 years
of computer learning, this is the first problem which's solution I couldn't
get. Now I'm frustrated and thinking to create a contact form with google docs.

I'm using google apps for my site.

I loged in google docs, but found it bit inaccessible or in more broad terms,
semiaccessible.
Can somebody help me out in creating the contact form with google docs?

Is there any special version of google docs for screen reader users?

I searched in the help of google docs, but didn't find the appropriate help on
accessibility. I saw the note on using google docs with screen readers, but it
was of no use.

My problem is, I can add one field. Now how to enable second sampal question
field? it says edit box unavailable.

Another problem is that when I try to save my form, I see "oops, error in
saving something..., try again?". Same error continues if clicked on ok.

I know, it was very long mail, so accept my sincere appologies but first reason
was to explain all my problems, and the second is of course my frustration.
I shall be highly obliged if someone can throw some light on this issue.

Regards,

Amar Jain.

[AI] Cheapest phone with accessibility features for the blind

2009-08-27 Thread Prashant Verma
Hello all,
I have been able to acquire a screenless talking mobile phone for just Rs. 500!
It has few great features and also few shortcomings. But overall it is a good
choice for those who cannot afford the expensive symbian phones. I have posted
its features and other details on my blog.
You can check my blog on http://www.prashant.myehome.in/

I can guide it to its seller or else I can arrange this phone if many are
interested.

Thanks,

When you see "make this a required field" use down arrow to move to question
2 and then use Mouse Left Double click at the item. (Use Route JAWS to PC)
Now using JAWS cursor only move to question 2 edit field, activate and use
the field.

Thanks

2009-08-27 Thread Sameer Latey

Dear Sir,

I suggest that you should complain about the shocking treatment meted out to
you to the higher authorities in Axis Bank. This complaint should be made in
writing with a copy sent to the banking ombudsman.

The legal eagles on the list may please correct me if my suggestion is
incorrect.

dear access indians
i would like to share my very bad experience of opening a current
account with axis bank.
it all started when i approached axis bank to open an account.
they refused to do so. when in asked them the reason for their refusal
they said that they dont open an account for visually impaird people.
then i showed them RBI and IBA circulars which says that all the banks
should accept a visually impaird person by taking their finger prints.
thanks to rohit patel for forwording me those circulars. after taking
a week's time the axis bank officials told me that it is not possible
to open an account in their bank.
1st of all they were not believing that i am visually impaird. i felt
very humiliating by the way they were asking questions. i would like
to clarify that i am totally blind due to bilateral retinal
deteachmant.
so my friends i would like to take suggesions and advise from you guys
in what best can be done.

with best wishes

Suman,
Do you have their response in writing.

I may be sounding a bit rood, but at some point, we should question such
bankers publicly through print and electronic media and make them to ensure
that they would not dare do such things again.

Re: [AI] Drivers needed for mother board.

2009-08-27 Thread Amar Jain
Dear Sir,

First of all, "sir"? Want to hit me?

No, no! Please don't forget you are a student but I am the smallest baba of
this list!!!
Well if you don't mind, I can call you bhaiya since I know you are elder
than me and surely I can't think calling you by your name.

Straightaway coming to the point, samual bhaiya said that look into cpu or
something, that's right. But I don't know exactly where on cpu the number
will be written.
That can not stop us to proceed further.

Now the solution can be to use the free pc advisors such as belarc advisor.
Someware recently I red in some mail about it. I guess it was titness so if
you receive titness then you already know about it.

The URL for belarc advisor is:

www.belarc.com

Please look for the download link on this site as I don't have the download
link with me right now. And if by mistake I remember correctly, then it can
be found in the latest titness. :)

Download it, let it do the scanning, it will present a web page like. Where
in table you will have everything about your computer.

I would not forget giving thanks to Rohiet Patil bhaiya for telling me about
this program at first.

Let me know the result and I know you can easily figure out the number of
mother board from that table.

Regards,

Amar Jain.

Thaks for your kind reply.
Firstly, I'm not sir, just a student, therefore, you can call me by name.
Secondly, How to know the model of the mother board?
That is it's already fixed inside the CPU, so do we have to open it and see?
or is there any way to know that?
Hope I've made myself clear.

Re: [AI] Anybody using google docs?

2009-08-27 Thread Amar Jain
Dear Mukesh Bhaiya,

I want to know two more things.

There are two edit boxes right after sign out link in google docs when we
create form.

I tried entering information in both of them. I noticed following:

1. When we enter information in first edit box, it comes as heading 1st.
For example,

Contact|AmarJain.com

2. If we enter anything in second box, it comes below the heading. For
example,

Contact form

Does this mean that we can enter all of our content of the contact web page
except the form tag and elements inside form tag, which we want to put on
our contact page?

Lets say I have to put terms and conditions etc. So can I enter in that
second edit box?

Now my second question:

In the combo box, I see paragraph text. What does that mean?

How does that look?

Regards,

Amar Jain.

When you see "make this a required field" use down arrow to move to question
2 and then use Mouse Left Double click at the item. (Use Route JAWS to PC)
Now using JAWS cursor only move to question 2 edit field, activate and use
the field.

Thanks
Mukesh

Subject: [AI] Anybody using google docs?

Friends,

I wish to put a contact form on my website. Previously I created a php
script for processing the form data and to email me the same.
The problem with that script was that I was getting the mails but the
message body was blank. After looking into the html source of that message,
I found that my specified message of php was there but no input submited by
visitor was visible to me.

I tried my best to solve this problem. But to be honest, in my whole 6/7
years of computer learning, this is the first problem which's solution I
couldn't get. Now I'm frustrated and thinking to create a contact form with
google docs.

I'm using google apps for my site.

I loged in google docs, but found it bit inaccessible or in more broad
terms, semiaccessible.
Can somebody help me out in creating the contact form with google docs?

Is there any special version of google docs for screen reader users?

I searched in the help of google docs, but didn't find the appropriate help
on accessibility. I saw the note on using google docs with screen readers,
but it was of no use.

My problem is, I can add one field. Now how to enable second sampal question
field? it says edit box unavailable.

Another problem is that when I try to save my form, I see "oops, error in
saving something..., try again?". Same error continues if clicked on ok.

I know, it was very long mail, so accept my sincere appologies but first
reason was to explain all my problems, and the second is of course my
frustration.
I shall be highly obliged if someone can throw some light on this issue.

Regards,

Amar Jain.

Secondly, Thanks for providing

I've downloaded the tool, installed and scanned my Pc's.
The results are very alarming, it is giving all the exact results.
The only thing that I didn't understand is I couldn't properly figure
out the model number of my mother board. Therefore, if you can, could
you please let me know how to identify the mother board using this
tool?
It could be in the table itself, but I couldn't figure out.
Therefore could you please help me in this matter?
Thanks in advance,

will be written.
That can not stop us to proceed further.

Now the solution can be to use the free pc advisors such as belarc
advisor.
Someware recently I red in some mail about it. I guess it was titness so
if
you receive titness then you already know about it.

The URL for belarc advisor is:

www.belarc.com

Please look for the download link on this site as I don't have the
download
link with me right now. And if by mistake I remember correctly, then it
can
be found in the latest titness. :)

Download it, let it do the scanning, it will present a web page like.
Where
in table you will have everything about your computer.

I would not forget giving thanks to Rohiet Patil bhaiya for telling me
about
this program at first.

Let me know the result and I know you can easily figure out the number of
mother board from that table.

Regards,

Amar Jain.

Dear Amar:
Thaks for your kind reply.
Firstly, I'm not sir, just a student, therefore, you can call me by name.
Secondly, How to know the model of the mother board?
That is it's already fixed inside the CPU, so do we have to open it and
see?
or is there any way to know that?
Hope I've made myself clear.
Thanks in advance,
Govind.

Re: [AI] Anybody using google docs?

2009-08-27 Thread Mukesh Sharma
Hi,
The answer to your first question is the second question!!!
Where ever you want to place text you can use the "paragraph text".
First 2 boxes are for form heading and it's description though you may
include contact information there itself if you are designing a form.

To explore more possibilities with form use www.freecrm.com

Thanks
Mukesh

Subject: Re: [AI] Anybody using google docs?

Regards,

Amar Jain.
