Re: [AI] Fw: DVD of a Bollywood film with Audio Description inHindi available worldwide for the first time.

2010-04-25 Thread Amar Jain

Nirmita Dee,
from what you have said I presume that this audio description will be
available in general DVDs also?

If that is the case, then I must pluggin the dvd player to listen to that?
If you could tell me what is the sign of audio described movie apart from
dialogs means where actually we can come to know that it is audio described
movie so that I can quickly look at the dvd of it.
I think in the starting itself when the names of producer director casting
director etc comes so at that time if it is described then it is audio
described movie?
any other member who has seen the dvd of MNIK after 24th febuary when the
press release came?

I have had an experience of watching this movie on cable ,mr khan is
narrating in the movie, the dialogue is quite clear to understand .
Only 2 places I had to ask what is happening .for those who can’t hear
lip reading is clearly visible or which dialogue is not seen is shown
by action.
Very good script.

Veer DVD hits stores worldwide on 24th April 2010.

Here is the solution for your problem.
Open excel sheet.
For example: write 9.03 in a1.
Go to format menu or simply press the shortcut ctrl + 1 and go to number
tab.
Choose category number-tab-decimal place 0-tab-okay-enter. Copy this
format in required column or row. your problem will be solved. Thank
you.

Hello everyone,

I want to round off the figure in nearest rupee. Suppose, I enter 9.03
in A1, it should appear as 10.00 in the same cell. Further, I enter
99.10 in B1, it should automatically be changed to 100.

Please suggest me any formula or macro in this regard. Though I am well
acquainted with excel formulae, this exercise is out of my
comprehension.

Re: [AI] Disclosing disability in CV

2010-04-25 Thread Asudani, Rajesh
Hi Sameer
In my opinion, We should invariably disclose our disability, because
reservation or not, it is a relevant factor.
If employers gloss over our explicit disclosure, we may point them to it, and
take them to task for undue surprise.
I think we should disclose it in general information section along with a
sentence or two conveying our abilities despite disability and maybe about
alternatives we employ to do the same tasks in a bit different manner.

However, I am quite apprehensive about employment opportunities of totally
blind or other 100% disabilities.
The incident which keeps gnawing at my heart mind and soul, if we possess one,
is when I was explicitly denied the job of lecturer in Government law college
by MPSC interview panel because there was no reservation, and they had the
audacity to say to my face that I won't be able to correct the papers and
notebooks of their students due to my 100% visual inability. I tried to make
them reasonable and convince them of other alternative means of doing such
things, and also brought to their notice that there are hundreds of blind
lecturers throughout India, but all without avail.
Now, legally speaking also, maharashtra government has not identified any post
of lecturer except music for blind, and we are sitting helpless, doing nothing
about it.
Of course, I am carried away by my personal experiences beyond scope of your
original mail, Sameer, but I do call upon all and any totally blind persons in
Maharashtra who are qualified and have appeared for interview of lectureship or
have got it to share their experiences.

Subject: [AI] Disclosing disability in CV

Dear Friends,

We recently had a discussion on whether we should disclose our disability
during the ongoing national census. I wish to know the members' viewpoints
on disclosure of disability in job interviews in cases where there is no
reservation.

I seek the members' views on the following queries.

1.. Whether we should disclose our disability in the CV sent to
prospective employers, job consultants or posted on various job portals?
2.. In case we decide to disclose our disability in the CV, where should
it be disclosed? Assuming the CV has 4 sections - General Information,
Educational record, work experience & salary details, where should the
disability be disclosed & in what manner?
3.. In case we are called for a job interview, should we check in advance
whether the company will be willing to consider us inspite of our
disability? This query is more relevant in case we have not disclosed our
disability in the CV since some blind friends who had not disclosed their
blindness were refused permission even to appear for the interview when they
reached the employer's office. Also, it has been observed that inspite of
disclosing disability, interviewers tend to skip over the information & they
are surprised when they realize the interviewee is blind.

Seeking the learned members views on the above queries.

Regards

Mr. Sameer Latey,
Mumbai, India

[AI] Regarding Disclosing Disability in CV

2010-04-25 Thread rambabu adikesavalu
Dear Sameer,
Mentioning our disability status and its nature in the CV is very important. If
we hide our disability status while applying for any job or other things, there
is no point in cribbing over being rejected by the concern authorities once
they find it out. Sometimes, even the disclosure on our part could be taken as
a strong reason for our rejection.
As Subramani has mentioned, the other details which we state about our
abilities could impress the concerned persons.
Regards,
Dr. A.Rambabu

Hello sir,
It is not possible to avail both the concisions simultaneously. If you are a
visually impaired employee, you are eligible to claim both the concisions.
But you are entitle to avail any one of them. In other words, you can avail
20 % but not 40%.

Hello everyone,

I want to round off the figure in nearest rupee. Suppose, I enter 9.03

Please suggest me any formula or macro in this regard. Though I am well

Re: [AI] 20 percent discountFrom BSNL To All Government Employees

2010-04-25 Thread Dr. Yogesh Sharma
Hi friends, I forgot to mention one thing. As pointed out by Sakeena Ji, the 50
percent discount on landline phones is offered only in the basic plans like the
180 or 190RS. plans. In Punjab, this discount is usually merged with the
discount for freedom fighters, and like those veterans, we are also required to
submit a life or living certificate of ourselves every year.
But, if your usage of landline is more and accordingly you want to go
in for a bigger plan with more free calls, like the Rs. 425 per month [in which
you are allowed free calls upto worth Rs. 400], then you are not allowed 50
percent discount on the rent of landline. Anyways, you have to decide it
according to your own suitability. Thanks.
With warm regards,
   Yours sincerely, Yogesh Sharma

Hello sir,
Both are 3G mobiles but without front camera. Why don't you select
E63? It provides 8 hours talk time and long life because of its
battery. moreover it has quarty key pad. I think its quiet cheaper. If
you want GPS better to choose N79. If you are sound enough why don't
you go for E72?

Take link list and hit at download audio books

Again link list and enter at desired topic

There you can see the tracks on the concerned topic

If you press enter at any track, it will be played

Then you will get a dialogue:

Download all using free download manager

Press enter

Then press shift + tab twice

Now you have reached ok button

Press space bar

Now the tracks will be downloaded automatically

In the beginning some small unnecessary files may be downloaded. Don't worry.

The Royal National Institute of Blind People's campaign for Audio
Description has resulted in several major distributors of Hollywood films
releasing their DVDs with an AD track in the UK. Now, for the first time,
the DVD of a Bollywood film with an AD track in Hindi will be made
available across the world.

Eros International's VEER, a love story set in the historical context of
the British rule in India has resulted in a modern day British-Indian
collaboration, making Veer the first Bollywood film to have an
audio-description (AD) track in Hindi on its DVD. UK-based Royal National
Institute of Blind People (RNIB) worked with Eros International to achieve
this milestone after its research among blind or partially sighted people
of Asian origin in the UK and India found that over 70 per cent of
respondents were more likely to watch Bollywood films if AD in Hindi was
provided.

Veer DVD hits stores worldwide on 24th April 2010.

Re: [AI] Disclosing disability in CV

2010-04-25 Thread Vamshi. G
Hi,

I second Subramani sir's opinion.

Besides, exposing our disability before the employer is inevitable.
And by hiding it in the CV, we are only postponing the inevitable.

When we mention about our disability in the CV, we should make sure
that we also mention the coping strategies like mobility, assistive
technology etc. And also, as we know the job we are going to do, we
should write how we think we are fit for handling that particular job
despite the disability.

Leave the standard format of CV and customise it to each and every
job applied for.

Re: [AI] Disclosing disability in CV

2010-04-25 Thread Subramani L
Despite being a disadvantage, I strongly feel the disability of a person
must be clearly mentioned in a separate section ccalled "Disability" and
a proper description of it. Hiding it would make you guilty of
concealing a fact that is vital to the employee's judgement of you.
Since in some cases you may be the first disabled ccandidate to be
appearing for the job, hiding your disability would also imply you are
not comfortable about your disability, which would never leave you in a
stronger position to convince your potential employer that your
disability won't come in the way of your ability to perform. Besides if
you are not comfortable about it, the employee will have all the good
reasons of not feeling comfortable hiring you.

Hiding it is hardly going to help you, so mention it voluntarily and
show that you have done a good job of dealing with the ccondition
yourself. Surely some employees will see the logic of such an argument
and -with all your prowess with the PC and internet- may even think of
giving you a chance.

Dear Friends,

We recently had a discussion on whether we should disclose our
disability
during the ongoing national census. I wish to know the members'
viewpoints
on disclosure of disability in job interviews in cases where there is no

reservation.

I seek the members' views on the following queries.

1.. Whether we should disclose our disability in the CV sent to
prospective employers, job consultants or posted on various job portals?
2.. In case we decide to disclose our disability in the CV, where
should
it be disclosed? Assuming the CV has 4 sections - General Information,
Educational record, work experience & salary details, where should the
disability be disclosed & in what manner?
3.. In case we are called for a job interview, should we check in
advance
whether the company will be willing to consider us inspite of our
disability? This query is more relevant in case we have not disclosed
our
disability in the CV since some blind friends who had not disclosed
their
blindness were refused permission even to appear for the interview when
they
reached the employer's office. Also, it has been observed that inspite
of
disclosing disability, interviewers tend to skip over the information &
they
are surprised when they realize the interviewee is blind.

Seeking the learned members views on the above queries.

Re: [AI] regarding internet banking.

2010-04-25 Thread Amar Jain
Sir in that case I am not the right person who can update you in this
matter.
I am not asking my branch because I am afraid that if they give me access of
this site then what if they take away my access to the normal site. Knowing
the fact that my branch people are extremely sensible. I am happy with
normal site.
And I contacted the SBI call center, but they even don't know about net
banking for visually challenged.
Lets wait for Madhav sir's reply since I think he has used it so he might be
able to guide us properly.

Dear Naidu Sir,
Once you open the main page of onlinesbi.com, then look for the link "SBI
net banking for visually challenged".
Press L twice then you will hear definition list one item or something
then this link is below that.

The click on login link or alternatively press alt 2 followed by enter.
Then enter your login information.
Ifyour username has access rights to this site, then you are good to go.
Alternatively, contact your branch.
You can transfer funds from one account to another account in statebank
so in a way yes you have transaction rights.
However till now this website does not offer you all features which
normal site offers you.
The best feature of this site in my eyes is its 'dead men switch' which
is already explained in previous mails.

For more, please go through the FAQ section of this site.

Presently I have been accessing SBI net banking for general customers

Does net banking for visually impaired persons provide both viewing

Respected Sir,
Internet banking is very much safe for us, provided that we maintain
the confidentiality of the login information.
It is advisable to not to use public computers for internet banking, so
if you have computer at home, you may use there confidently.
And the features like enable high security in SBI which sends you an
sms which contains password, for any transaction makes E-banking more
secure.
Same way in the case of cards you have got feature of extra
authentication while transacting online using your card which will be
introduced in IVRS by 2011 as per latest guidelines of RBI makes it
secure.
The new feature of SBI net banking for visually challenged which allows
you to lock your username instantly using a keystroke in case of any
thret provides you good security.
I don't have good knowledge about it, but few banks have come up with
some USB device concept. It is a security measure but what it is all
about, I don't know.
So if you are confident that you can maintain account login
information, and if you can insure that your computer is secured in a
way not full of viruses etc, then you are good to go.
I am using E-banking, and hasn't come across any risky incident as
such.

Hi folks,

Feels great to write to the list after a long time. I hope everyone's
doing good. Friends, for quite a long time I have seen people posting
mails regarding the requirement of important circulars, orders and
provisions which could benefit the persons with disability. So, I thought
why not to upload the collection of all these documents somewhere, so
that anyone and everyone can have access to them anytime they are in need
of these documents. I have put up these circulars and orders in Inclusive
Planet under the channel " Important circulars, orders and provisions".
So guys! If you anytime feel the need of any circulars or orders be it
RBI or IBA circular, Scribe guidelines, orders related to reservations
and quotas etc, just click on the link given below and find the necessary
documents.

You can also upload more of these stuffs if you have them and you think
its going to help the people in the community.

I am using E-banking, and hasn't come across any risky incident as such.

Amar Jain.

Re: [AI] regarding internet banking.

2010-04-25 Thread Amar Jain

Dear Naidu Sir,
Once you open the main page of onlinesbi.com, then look for the link "SBI
net banking for visually challenged".
Press L twice then you will hear definition list one item or something then
this link is below that.

The click on login link or alternatively press alt 2 followed by enter.
Then enter your login information.
Ifyour username has access rights to this site, then you are good to go.
Alternatively, contact your branch.
You can transfer funds from one account to another account in statebank so
in a way yes you have transaction rights.
However till now this website does not offer you all features which normal
site offers you.
The best feature of this site in my eyes is its 'dead men switch' which is
already explained in previous mails.

For more, please go through the FAQ section of this site.
Regards,
Amar Jain.

Hello Sir,
Will you please explain how to access SBI net banking for visually
impaired persons?
Presently I have been accessing SBI net banking for general customers
which is accessible to use with Jaws. What are the additional advantages
if we access net banking facilities for visually impaired persons?
Does net banking for visually impaired persons provide both viewing rights
and transitional rights?

Thanks in advance,
Janardhana Naidu.

Respected Sir,
Internet banking is very much safe for us, provided that we maintain the
confidentiality of the login information.
It is advisable to not to use public computers for internet banking, so
if you have computer at home, you may use there confidently.
And the features like enable high security in SBI which sends you an sms
which contains password, for any transaction makes E-banking more secure.
So if you are confident that you can maintain account login information,
and if you can insure that your computer is secured in a way not full of
viruses etc, then you are good to go.

I am using E-banking, and hasn't come across any risky incident as such.
Regards
Amar Jain.
