If you want to receive mails in your new ID, simply unsubscribe from
the existing ID and subscribe from the new one. Or, give your new ID
as a forward from your old so that all the mails that come to your old
ID can be read through the new ID as well.

Subject: Apple® today unveiled a new Mac® Pro line with up to 12
processing cores
To: lsubramani.v...@gmail.com

CUPERTINO, California-July 27, 2010-Apple® today unveiled a new Mac®
Pro line with up to 12 processing cores and up to 50 percent greater
performance than
the previous generation.* Featuring the latest quad-core and 6-core
Intel Xeon processors, all-new ATI graphics and the option for up to
four 512GB solid
state drives (SSD), the new Mac Pro continues to deliver amazing
performance and expandability for the most demanding consumers and
professionals.

"The new Mac Pro is the most powerful and configurable Mac we've ever
made," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of
Worldwide Product Marketing.
"With up to 12 cores, the new Mac Pro outperforms our previous
top-of-the-line system by up to 50 percent, and with over a billion
possible configurations,
our customers can create exactly the system they want."

At the heart of the new Mac Pro's performance are next generation
quad-core and 6-core Intel Xeon processors running at speeds up to
3.33 GHz. These multi-core
processors use a single die design so each core can share up to 12MB
L3 cache to improve efficiency while increasing processing speed.
These systems feature
an integrated memory controller for faster memory bandwidth and
reduced memory latency; Turbo Boost to dynamically boost processor
speeds up to 3.6 GHz;
and Hyper-Threading to create up to 24 virtual cores. The Mac Pro now
comes with the ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics processor with 1GB of
memory and customers
can configure-to-order the even faster ATI Radeon HD 5870 with 1GB of memory.

For the first time, Mac Pro customers have the option to order a 512GB
SSD for the ultimate in reliability and lightning fast performance.
With the ability
to install up to four SSD drives in the system's internal drive bays,
the new Mac Pro can provide ultra high-speed disk bandwidth and random
disk performance,
two times faster than the average performance of a standard disk
drive.** Mac Pro also now features two Mini DisplayPorts and one
dual-link DVI port. The
additional Mini DisplayPort output allows customers to connect two LED
Cinema Displays without an additional graphics card or adapter and the
dual-link
DVI port supports legacy DVI-based displays up to a resolution of 2560
x 1600 pixels.

Every Mac Pro comes with Apple's innovative Magic Mouse and customers
can also order Apple's new Magic Trackpad as an option. The Magic
Trackpad brings
the intuitive Multi-Touch(tm) gestures of Mac notebook trackpads to
the desktop. With its glass surface, the wireless Magic Trackpad
allows users to scroll
smoothly up and down a page with inertial scrolling, pinch to zoom in
and out, rotate an image with their fingertips and swipe three fingers
to flip through
a collection of web pages or photos. The Magic Trackpad can be
configured to support single button or two button commands and
supports tap-to-click as
well as a physical click. Magic Trackpad is available separately for
Rs 3,070 (Inc VAT).

Continuing Apple's commitment to the environment, Apple's desktop
lineup is a leader in green design. The Mac Pro meets stringent Energy
Star 5.0 requirements
and achieves EPEAT Gold status.*** The Mac Pro enclosure is made of
highly recyclable aluminum and the interior is designed to be more
material-efficient.
The Mac Pro uses PVC-free internal cables and components and contains
no brominated flame retardants. The new Apple Battery Charger provides
a convenient
and environmentally friendly way to always have a fresh set of
batteries for your Magic Trackpad, Magic Mouse and Wireless Keyboard.
The Apple Battery
Charger is available as an option for Rs 1,140 (Inc VAT) and comes
with six long shelf life rechargeable batteries.

Every Mac also comes with Mac OS® X Snow Leopard®, the world's most

with hundreds of
refinements, core technologies and out of the box support for
Microsoft Exchange. iLife features iPhoto®, with breakthrough ways to
organize and manage
your photos by who appears in them and where they were taken; iMovie®
with powerful easy-to-use features such as Precision Editor, video
stabilization
and advanced drag and drop; and GarageBand® which offers a whole new

[AI] Accommodation in Mumbai

2010-07-29 Thread Asudani, Rajesh
Friends
One of our blind friends has got selected in a private bank in Mumbai. His
posting is likely to be in goregaon East.
As you all know, the greatest problem in Mumbai is that of accommodation.
So, I would be grateful if some suitable hostel, PG shared room or any other
type of accommodation could be suggested at a reasonable cost and at a
reasonable distance from the place of posting.
It will definitely give him a chance to prove himself by working in Mumbai.

thanking you in advance

[AI] Fw: Court Case

2010-07-29 Thread Krishnan

- Original Message -
From: Ashish Fernandes, Greenpeace India
To: moothimo...@gmail.com
Sent: Thursday, July 29, 2010 12:46 PM
Subject: Court Case

Dear krishnan m. moothimoola,

TATA has filed a law suit against Greenpeace for Rs 10 crore
because of our TATA v/s Turtles game, highlighting the threat the Dhamra port
poses to the turtles and other wildlife. [1] Greenpeace stands by its actions
and will present its case in court on August 12.

TATA is desperately trying to silence all opposition to their port
in Dhamra, Orissa. The port will start functioning next month even as the
Supreme Court’s Central Empowered Committee deliberates on its violation of the
Forest Conservation Act. TATA is simply trying to divert attention from the
core issue - the dangers their port poses to coastal biodiversity.

There are over 300 more ports planned across the country’s
coastline. Many of these are in and around eco-sensitive areas. You have
already written to Jairam Ramesh asking him to strengthen the Coastal
Regulation Zone notification to protect our coasts. We need to get more voices
to impress upon him the urgency of this issue.

Can you forward this mail to your friends and family asking them to
write to Jairam Ramesh?

Ask Jairam Ramesh to save our coasts. Click here to write to
him.
Dear supporter,

The Tatas have filed a law suit against Greenpeace for Rs 10 crore
because of our TATA v/s Turtles game, highlighting the threat the Dhamra port
poses to the turtles and other wildlife [1]. Greenpeace stands by its actions
and will present its case in court on August 12.

The Tatas are trying to divert attention from their port’s impacts,
ignoring the concerns of 150,000 people, scientists, politicians and NGOs. The
port has bent every law in the book, threatening turtles, mangroves, crocodiles
and other species [2].

Over 300 more ports are being planned across mainland India. Many
will be in and near eco-sensitive areas. We cannot let more Dhamras happen and
the Minister of Environment and Forest Jairam Ramesh needs to act.

Can you write to Jairam Ramesh asking him to protect our coasts?

http://greenpeace.in/turtle/no-more-dhamras

21,262 people have already written to him. More letters will help
make him realise that he cannot take the issue lightly.

A lot of these new ports are planned in or near mangroves, fish
breeding grounds and the habitats of marine turtles and other vulnerable
species.

In 1991 the Government had come up with a Coastal Regulation Zone
(CRZ) notification meant to protect our coasts. But over the years this
notification has been weakened to suit vested interests.

To prevent future Dhamras this notification needs to be
strengthened. Minister Jairam Ramesh can do this by inserting a clause which
prohibits construction of new ports and expansion of old ones within 25km
radius of eco-sensitive, CRZ I areas.

Ask Minister Jairam Ramesh to save India’s coastal spaces before
it’s too late:

http://greenpeace.in/turtle/no-more-dhamras

Thanks a billion!

Friends
One of our blind friends has got selected in a private bank in Mumbai. His
posting is likely to be in goregaon East.

As you all know, the greatest problem in Mumbai is that of accommodation.
So, I would be grateful if some suitable hostel, PG shared room or any
other type of accommodation could be suggested at a reasonable cost and
at a reasonable distance from the place of posting.
It will definitely give him a chance to prove himself by working in
Mumbai.

thanking you in advance

Re: [AI] Accommodation in Mumbai

2010-07-29 Thread Srinivasu Chakravarthula
Unfortunately, it seems MNB has bluntly informed that they cannot
accommodate new people and reason being that inmates who are staying
for several years are not vacating the hostel. As far as I know, one
can stay there for three years and by then one should make their own
arrangments which in my opinion is a right clause and I myself did
followed the same during my stay in Mumbai.

Cheers,

[AI] SBI launches special service for visually handicapped

SBI launches special service for visually handicapped

  The United News of India

  Published on July 19, 2010

Mumbai, July 19: (UNI) As part of responsibility to better service
society, State Bank of India (SBI) will soon start a new service for the
visually handicapped persons. It has been given the name Self Service Banking
Centre (SSBC), and is to be operationalised shortly. To begin with the Centre
has been set up at the Delhi Head office of SBI at Parliament Street. The
Centre is handicapped friendly with a ramp for wheelchairs.

Facilities for Visually handicapped include the provision of a dedicated
Braille keypad ATM. SSBC is a staff less technology based banking outfit
providing multiple banking facilities, namely ATMs, Internet banking and mobile
banking. 'Roll out of the SSBCs is aimed at increasing customer convenience and
improving access to financial services,' Senior Bank officials said.

The Centre was inaugurated recently by SBI Chairman O P Bhatt and will
become functional soon. India is perhaps unique in having an extensive and
elaborate programme of financial inclusion. It is incumbent upon state-run
Banks to provide 40 per cent of their lending to customers from the priority
sector, which includes agriculture, artisans, small and medium enterprises and
scheduled castes and tribes. Most government-owned banks also give loans to
students for pursuing studies, whose dimension is growing rapidly.

Another major effort of the Public Sector Banks is to now cover the
unbanked sectors of the economy, which means areas where banking has not
reached the populace in urban and rural areas. A large segment of society
remains under the clutches of money lenders, who charge exorbitant rates of
interest.

State-owned banks are now taking new initiatives to reach out to the less
privileged groups and those having problems by virtue of a chance of birth or
that developed later on in life. They need compassion and help. It is a well
known fact that private sector banks being driven by sheer profit motive are
reluctant to start such services, even though Banks like the HSBC have embarked
upon the exercise of financial inclusion.

Banking services even in a country like South Africa are highly expensive
for the common customer. For instance, keeping money below a certain level is
chargeable, and so is a bank account statement. This is true despite a
nationwide programme of Black empowerment. All said and done, the black
population of South Africa remains poor and finds it difficult to take
advantage of financial services, including banking and insurance.

Experts say many countries regard India as a role model for other
developing countries to emulate with regard to provision of financial
services--it virtually escaped the global meltdown while the banking sector in
the West was in the throes of a financial crisis, its elaborate programme of
financial inclusion and now special facilities for certain sections like women
and small enterprises. The latest in this league are special services for
visually handicapped persons by the biggest bank of the country.

While I may appreciate the effort, I think, SBI may be interprating
the term accessibility and inclusion. I am not sure how SSBC would
customers who are persons with disabilities. I am sure and it's not
feasable for SBI to establish such centres in more than one area in a
city. Considering that, why would some one go all the way to SSBC to
use ATM. I think, they need to invest and put in efforts to make their
main stream services accessible to all.

Correction in my earlier email. I meant SBI may be interpreting
Accessibility and Inclusion in a wrong way.

Also, I wonder, if they have ever included people with disabilities while
making decisions on services for people with disabilities.

   Dear krishnan m. moothimoola,

TATA has filed a law suit against Greenpeace for Rs 10 crore
because of our TATA v/s Turtles game, highlighting the threat the Dhamra
port poses to the turtles and other wildlife. [1] Greenpeace stands by its
actions and will present its case in court on August 12.

TATA is desperately trying to silence all opposition to their
port in Dhamra, Orissa. The port will start functioning next month even as
the Supreme Court’s Central Empowered Committee deliberates on its
violation of the Forest Conservation Act. TATA is simply trying to divert
attention from the core issue - the dangers their port poses to coastal
biodiversity.

There are over 300 more ports planned across the country’s
coastline. Many of these are in and around eco-sensitive areas. You have
already written to Jairam Ramesh asking him to strengthen the Coastal
Regulation Zone notification to protect our coasts. We need to get more
voices to impress upon him the urgency of this issue.

Can you forward this mail to your friends and family asking
them to write to Jairam Ramesh?

Ask Jairam Ramesh to save our coasts. Click here to write
to him.

   Dear supporter,

The Tatas have filed a law suit against Greenpeace for Rs 10
crore because of our TATA v/s Turtles game, highlighting the threat the
Dhamra port poses to the turtles and other wildlife [1]. Greenpeace stands
by its actions and will present its case in court on August 12.

The Tatas are trying to divert attention from their port’s
impacts, ignoring the concerns of 150,000 people, scientists, politicians
and NGOs. The port has bent every law in the book, threatening turtles,
mangroves, crocodiles and other species [2].

Over 300 more ports are being planned across mainland India.
Many will be in and near eco-sensitive areas. We cannot let more Dhamras
happen and the Minister of Environment and Forest Jairam Ramesh needs to
act.

Can you write to Jairam Ramesh asking him to protect our
coasts?

   http://greenpeace.in/turtle/no-more-dhamras

21,262 people have already written to him. More letters will
help make him realise that he cannot take the issue lightly.

A lot of these new ports are planned in or near mangroves, fish
breeding grounds and the habitats of marine turtles and other vulnerable
species.

In 1991 the Government had come up with a Coastal Regulation
Zone (CRZ) notification meant to protect our coasts. But over the years
this notification has been weakened to suit vested interests.

To prevent future Dhamras this notification needs to be
strengthened. Minister Jairam Ramesh can do this by inserting a clause
which prohibits construction of new ports and expansion of old ones within
25km radius of eco-sensitive, CRZ I areas.

Ask Minister Jairam Ramesh to save India’s coastal spaces
before it’s too late:

2010-07-29 Thread Swati Sinha
Hello,
You haven't mentioned whether you want to save the messages from your e-mail
client or from your Online account.
If you want to store the messages from your Outlook then open the mail and
then go to the save option in file nenu and save the messages in the folder
or the drives that you wish.
For your Online account, you can mark the messages as ** and send them in
specific folder.
Hope it helps.

Hi all, is there any way to save the forwarded messages instead of
copying those into word or text document and save it in one

[AI] 100 million Facebook profiles published online

2010-07-29 Thread Gopalakrishnan
100 million Facebook profiles published online

New York, July 29, 2010

IANS

The personal details of 100 million users of social networking website Facebook
are now available for download after they were leaked online.

Ron Bowles, an online security consultant, used a code to scan Facebook
profiles, collected data not hidden by users' privacy settings, and compiled a
list, which is now available as a downloadable file, containing the URL of
every “searchable” Facebook user's profile, their name and unique ID, the BBC
reported Thursday.

Bowles said he published the data to highlight privacy issues, but Facebook
retorted by saying the information was already public.

“People who use Facebook own their information and have the right to share only
what they want, with whom they want, and when they want,” the website said.

“In this case, information that people have agreed to make public was collected
by a single researcher and already exists in Google, Bing, other search
engines, as well as on Facebook.”

“No private data is available or has been compromised,” Facebook said.

The list has already been downloaded by over 1,000 people on Pirate Bay, the
world's biggest file-sharing website.

List ‘terrifying'

One userby the name of ‘lusifer69' said the list was “awesome and a little
terrifying”.

But internet watchdog Privacy International said Facebook had been given ample
warning that something like this would happen.

“Facebook should have anticipated this attack and put measures in place to
prevent it,” Simon Davies, an official of Privacy International, said.

“It is inconceivable that a firm with hundreds of engineers couldn't have
imagined a trawl of this magnitude and there's an argument to be heard that
Facebook have acted with negligence, he said.

Facebook hit 500 million users in June this year.

Friends
One of our blind friends has got selected in a private bank in Mumbai.
His posting is likely to be in goregaon East.
