Re: [AI] Problem in receiving mail in outlook express

2011-02-12 Thread Amar Jain

Dear Ms. Kapadia,
When I was on XP, I was confronted with the same problem till the time I did
not know the solution. Have you insured that in your email client i.e.,
outlook, your OE is set to check for every email after certain time?

By doing so, it will check at the startup and after the specified time both.
I believe that the setting for doing so is located under tools > options.

Amar Jain.

2011-02-12 Thread Amar Jain

Dear Bhaiya,
Since you are getting accessibility setup assistance that means your pdf
file is opening in adobe itself. So that IE thing does not matter. Actually
in adobe 10 its in accessibility options, but in 9 exactly I don’t remember
it should be in options.
But since you said that you are not getting menus, did you see that whether
the file is maximised or not? Sometimes it so happens.
Otherwise, just do jaws curser and press control home and then see using
normal commands whether you get file edit etc? If you get, then click on
file and then try with erro keys after doing pc curser.

Dear amar,
Once I click on the go button the pdf file gets opened and adobe
reader announces the reading option. I keep the default option reading
order combo box inferred reading from the document recommended and I
click on the start button.

As you suggested that by using the save as option I can save the file.
But I am unable to get to file menu by pressing alt or f10 key. I
guess I can get the menus by pressing escape key so on doing so I get
few buttons on this document such as, zoom out button etc.

As you have mentioned that “if you get your PDF open in IE window,
then disable that option in Adobe reader I believe in latest its under
accessibility setup, as it prevents from
reading the file.” So could you please tell me about it in more
detail. How to choose this option and where it is used?

I am using adobe reader 9.

Thanks,

Hello,
I am using the online sbi since few years and finding no difficulties
in accessing the same. Only my problem is to save the account
statement independently in pdf format.

Once I select the option of pdf the account statement is fully red but
there is one link wich says that click here to save this file and jaws
does not read this link. So any solution for this problem?

Please do not suggest to save this file in excel or html format
because I need to know only about this type of problem i.e. way of
saving the statement independently without the help of any sighted
person to click on this link.

Well, are you talking about resetting profile password?
As far as calendar issue is concerned, look there below the read only

you will be taken to a new opened window. There, select your date of

   Hi all,

Hope, all are doing well. now I would like to share a problem with you
which I believe that, you can help me a lot.

I have a savings account in State Bank Of India, Integrated Office
Complex branch. The branch has issued me net banking but due to
inaccessibility of screen reader I could not been able to use my
account. I did not have the access of "net banking for visually
challenged". The branch did not have the right allow to access the
page.

I am repeatedly requested the "happy room" of State Bank Of India
regarding the matter but I am surprised that they did not have any idea
regarding this issue.

Now, I need some visually challenged persons details which I can
forward

for their convenience and they can get the idea about how they have got
the accessibility and how they use this facility etcetera.

Can anyone help me? If so, he/she may contact in my personal email ID
amarnath.day@gmail .com and can give his/her mobile/telephone number in
which the concerned officer can talk to him. It will, not only serve my
purpose, but also help the other blind users who are living in Delhi.

So friends, please help me to come out from this problem.

Here is my skype ID: amarnath.day

Thanks and regards.

Yours sincerely,
Amarnath De.

Hi all,

Wondering if any software or excel template/add-in is available to
systematically record all personal finance matters and also create reminders
for related important dates.

Or is such a facility available online somewhere in the Indian context.

Around a decade ago, I remember seeing a demo / free software called NVest
in a CD which came free along with an I T magazine. It also handled income
tax matters as per the law in India. In the last couple of years when I have
tried searching for it online, could never find it.

Any suggestions??
thanks and regards,

Friends
Today is tenth, and I am awaiting revised working draft of disability
legislation.
Yet there is no sign of it and state consultations dates have been

I wonder how the new piece of law would reach the target groups in a

Moreover, it seems such consultations are a prerogative of a few living in

Dear friends
Lets be cautious about the intention of the GOI in diluting the provisions of
the existing PWD Act. The members of the draft committe will have to bear
responsibility if any thing goes wrong since it is contemplated that the draft
Act is going to restrict the reservations in promotions.
Lets all aware.

CONSULTATIONS' DEADLINE TO 10TH MARCH

  Dear friends,

As much as some people may dislike or hate us or the kind of
work/advocacy/information dissemination that we do, tough luck, it does have
an impact!

The New Law Committee's efforts to rush the process and hold by & large
meaningless consultations across the country, suffered a setback today when
MSJE Minister, Mr. Mukul Wasnik himself stepped in and asked "What is the
hurry?"

For the last several days, Disabled Rights Group (DRG), National Disability
Network (NDN) and many other friends like Rajiv Rajan in Tamil Nadu,
Srinivasulu in Andhra Pradesh; Gautam Choudhary in West Bengal and Javed
Ahmad Tak in Jammu & Kashmir had vehemently argued: (1) that the draft of
the new disability rights law must be first translated into regional/state
languages; (2) it should then be disseminated widely and people, especially
grassroots level disabled people, must get enough time to be able to read
the draft and understand it properly; and (3) only then the state level
consultations should be allowed to take place.

However, unfortunately, no one was willing to listen! The Committee wanted
to rush the process and hold the so called state level consultations across
the country, during the 12th to 22nd Feb. time period!! Left with no other
choice, we had to label the process a "sham".

It seems that our voice reached the right people.

Earlier today (11.2.2011), a meeting was organised here in Delhi by the
Committee to brief their 'facilitators' on how to conduct the process. They
were give a copy of the latest draft law, the 9th February, 2011 version.
Along with that an 'Executuve Summary' was prepared and given. The booklet
is neatly/crisply labelled "Persons with Disabilities Act, 2011"!!! The
Committee, their consultant and whosoever their newfound friends are seem to
be so overwhelmed that they forgot (momentarily, I guess) the fine
difference between a Draft, a Bill, and an Act. Elementary knowledge a Class
8th student should have: only when a proposed law, ie a Bill is passed by
the Parliament, can it be called an Act.

Secretary MSJE, Mr. KM Acharya who was there at this meeting tersely pointed
out, "I don't know how you are calling it (draft law) an Act. It has to be a
Bill. It will become an Act only after it is passed by the Parliament."

He also supported our demand for the translation of the draft law: "No way
can this process be considered complete unless it (draft law) is translated
into the state languages," he said. After him, when Minister MSJE, Mr. Mukul
Wasnik spoke, he made the following rather instructive remarks:

"What is the hurry? Time is certainly not a constraint".

"Whatever is done, it should be as close to perfection".

"None should be left out to say that she/he had a view but did not get an
opportunity".

"Meaningful consultation will not be possible unless consultations take
place through state languages so that the mass of people can contribute".

AND, HERE IS THE GOOGLY CUM BOUNCER COMBINED:

*"I am glad to see Civil Society to be so vibrant, aggressive, informed, and
committed".*

WELL, TRUE, EVEN I FOUND IT HARD TO BELIEVE WHEN I FIRST HEARD THIS.
OBVIOUSLY, I WAS NOT THERE BUT NOT ONE BUT TWO FRIENDS WHO WERE THERE AT
THIS MEETING AND TAKING NOTES HAVE REPORTED THIS AS WELL AS THE OTHER
REMARKS.

Kudos, Mukul Wasnik ji, for once I am truly impressed. I am glad you have
taken things in your hands. I am happy you are taking a personal interest in
the making of this new disability rights legislation. More power to you!

Anyway, the long and short outcome of today's meeting is that the deadline
for the consultations has been extended to 10th March. And, as reported
before, the consultations will take place only after the latest draft (9th
Feb. version) of the new law has been translated into state languages.

The deadline for the filing of the reports is now 15th March, and after that
the Committee will meet one more time on 23rd and 24th March.

With best regards,

Javed Abidi

Hello,
I am using the online sbi since few years and finding no difficulties
in accessing the same.

The branch did not have the right allow to access the page.

I am repeatedly requested the "happy room" of State Bank Of India
regarding the matter but I am surprised that they did not have any idea
 regarding this issue.

Now, I need some visually challenged persons details which I can forward

for their convenience and they can get the idea about how they have got
the accessibility and how they use this facility etcetera.

Around a decade ago, I remember seeing a demo / free software called NVest in a

matters as per the law in India. In the last couple of years when I have tried
searching for it online, could never find it.

Any suggestions??

Well, are you talking about resetting profile password?
As far as calendar issue is concerned, look there below the read only
edit box, the graphical image link is given. If you press enter on it,
you will be taken to a new opened window. There, select your date of
birth and you are good to go. If you could tell me that how and where are

Can anyone help me? If so, he/she may contact in my personal email ID

which the concerned officer can talk to him. It will, not only serve my
purpose, but also help the other blind users who are living in Delhi.

So friends, please help me to come out from this problem.

Re: [AI] State Level Consultation on New Law at Pune

2011-02-12 Thread ram

Dear Kanchan,

It would have been my pleasure to hold the consultations on a week end. That
doesn't seem to be possible, as the state level disability commissioner's
office is also involved.

It is proposed to hold 2 consultation meetings in Maharashtra, the first in
Aurangabad, on February 22 and 23, 2011 and the second in Pune, on 28
February and March 1, 2011. I request all of you to participate in one of
the meetings and share your views.

English Translation of the bill will be forwarded on the site, as I am not
sure, how many of us have Hindi reading Jaws. If you indicate your
participation to Pallavi, she can send Hindi version. I request Harish to
arrange to upload the bill on AI site for everyone of us to see and read.

Thank you for asking Pallavi to inform me that the Maharashtra State level

I am glad that we now have time to read and absorb the draft.

I note that the draft is going to be translated in Hindi and not in

Also both the consultations are on weekdays. I would request you to
reconsider the dates and organise one of the 2 meetings on a weekend. It
