Re: [AI] Awareness building workshop in Vidharba, Maharashtra

2011-04-26 Thread Asudani, Rajesh
Somehow, kanchan, your messages are striking the list thrice!

Yes, anandvan did some good work for VI a while ago, but unfortunately, they
have since at least for the time being, discontinued the computer training for
the blind/disabled, perhaps due to lack of funding..
The girl teaching there is now in Nagpur ITI conducting a government run six
month computer course for blind.
That's the only computer training facility in orange city and around for the
VI, even though a few persons have successfully taken training through
mainstream institutes and have passed certificate exams as well..

So, let us make the people of Vidharbha aware and build some useful
infrastructure for training/education as well.

I too appeal to one and all to respond positively to this one day event in May.

You must visit Anand Van i.e. Baba Amte's place. I will send you the phone
no. of someone working there. I think Rajesh also knows her.
I have been very interested with the work done there. I think they are doing
something really great.

Also please tell all the visually challenged that after the High Court's
recent orders the visually challenged are going to have technology provided
by the State govt at their work place so they have to learn technology
before they go to the jobs. No more excuses of sitting idle and not being
allowed to do anything.

I have been speaking to organisations around Maharashtra about training but
I dont see much interest maybe because of lack of resources. However there
is no choice and the visually challenged will have to get trained.

Also when you speak to people please emphasise on software like NVDA and
Dolphin and not so much on JAWS.

Whoever had this brilliant idea of going to the interiors of Maharshtra in
peak summer is brave.

Good luck to the team.

2011-04-26 Thread Amit Bhatt
When you 1st time setup your Reliance Broadband net connect Data Card,
it does automatically instal the Application on your Machine.
There is you need to take some assistance of sighted person while 1st
time activating the connection, or even you can do it on your own
using Jaws to PC curser. Once the activation process is done, there is
no problem in connecting the Reliance net connect.
I also use Reliance Broadband net connect and having no problem using
it with Jaws.
By the way, can you let us know what is the model of your device? Some
time much depends on your device too.

How to use Nokia maps in the same?
How to record our voice, video and take a picture using a camera in C5?
All your help will be greatly appriciated.

Good luck to the team.

2011-04-26 Thread Bharat
there are ways to protecting your clipboard, as the trick mentioned
here is an old one & has been in exstiance for a very long time. with
a lot of utilities to clear the clipboard such as CCleaner & many
more, you just need to be a bit carefull. besides, all the modern day
browsers have adequate security to insure, people don't get to access,
your computer through them.

[AI] PGT exams

2011-04-26 Thread Eyeway Helpdesk
Hi all,

One of our helpdesk caller who is a teacher in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan
(KVS) appeared for PGT exams conducted by KVS in February 2011. The minimum
ellegibility criteria to appear in the exams was M.Sc and B.Ed. He was provided
a scribe by the exam authorities and the scribe given to him was a student of
class 11th whose reading/writing both were poor which affected this person's
performance in the exams.
1. In light of above, would like to know if there are any rules set for
visually impaired candidates providing for scribe, extra time and other
compensating facilities in PGT exams in KVS.

2. We do not have a clear understanding of who conducts these exams for various
schools in the country, whether it is the central and the state governments, or
the education boards, or all of them.
Would also like to know, what are the provisions for visually impaired
candidates in PGT exams conducted elsewhere.

Re: [AI] Suggest good Netbook

2011-04-26 Thread Pamnani
I on one hand can say that I am happy with the performance of the Assus
netbook however I have had problems like my down arrow key stopped working
in less than a year. I had to replace the entire keyboard. This was a major
problem.

A fault has developed on the mother board-I cant charge the computer when it
is turned off so I have to ensure that the battery does not run down to 0 .
It charges when the machine is on. This is critical. This has happened in
the second year of use.
I of course dont treat my netbook properly and am quite rough with it.
However these are major problems and can happen in any machine. I have been
owning different computers and I havent had such problems.

When anyone is thinking of a netbook they better think of the warranty for 3
years. I feel all other features are similar and comparisons are useless.

Hai srikant sir, if you never mind, can you pls give your skipe id. Or mobile
number, because i will be having few more questions regarding windows7 64bits.

64 bit is very good and i love that version compared to 32 bit.. it is
more stable and less vulnerable to virus attacks. while using with
jaws 12 have some basic problems:

for example:
in G mail while checking mails by marking them the focus shifts to the
first mail every time as soon as we check one mail which is irritating
and was found to be good with 32 bit version. the focus in sum
websights shifts to the beginning of the page while the page is auto
updated.
it can utilize more RAM efficiently.

[AI] webvisum log in problem

2011-04-26 Thread mukesh jain
Hello,
I would like to know about the webvisum add-on of firefox. Since
couple of months, I was using this add-on successfully. Very recently,
after getting formatted my computer I have again installed the firefox
version 3.5 and downloaded the webvisum and tried to log in with my
old account. But to my surprise, after inserting the log in details in
firefox/tools menu/add-on/webvisum preferences/general tab and
pressing space bar on option button in this tab page, despite giving
my log in details as used by me earlier I could not get the message
“you are loged in to webvisum ok button” on restarting the firefox.

I was getting this loged in message earlier but now I am unable to log
in to webvisum. So could anyone suggest me any trouble shooting
procedure for my problem as mentioned above.
Also please do let me know as to:
1 Am I right in following the steps to get the log in to webvisum?
2 do I need to follow any additional steps to log in to webvisum as
per any current changes made to webvisum by developer of this add-on?

Your response in this regard is highly solicited.
Thanks,

[AI] Shocking news about CTRL+C (Please pay Attention)

2011-04-26 Thread vibhu sharma

Please pay Attention

Clipboard Hack Problem - Shocking news about CTRL+C

Ctrl+C may be the most important work we do everyday. But it's not a very safe
thing to do. Read on to know why. What happens when you press Ctrl+C while you
are online. We do copy various data by Ctrl + C for pasting elsewhere. This
copied data is stored in clipboard and is accessible from the net by a
combination of Javascripts and ASP. This is called clipboard hack problem.

Just try this:
1. Copy any text by Ctrl + C
2. Click the Link: http://www.sourcecodesworld.com/special/clipboard.asp
3. You will see the text you copied was accessed by this web page.

Surprised! I know you are because i was also surprised to see it. Do not keep
sensitive data (like passwords, credit card numbers, PIN etc.) in the clipboard
while surfing the web. It is extremely easy to extract the text stored in the
clipboard to steal your sensitive information. Forward this information to as
many friends as you can, to save them from online frauds!

It is true, text you last copied for pasting (copy & paste) can be stolen when
you visit web sites using a combination of JavaScript and ASP (or PHP, or CGI)
to write your possible sensitive data to a database on another server.

How Cipboard Hack is done?

The Clipboard hack is done by the following Source Code:

How to safeguard yourself from Clipboard Hack Problem?

To avoid clipboard hack problem, do the following:
1. Go to internet options->security.
2. Press custom level.
3. In the security settings, select disable under Allow paste operations via
script. (Scripting sub heading)

Now the contents of your clipboard are safe.

Interestingly, this hack works only on internet explorer, and not on Mozilla
