[AI] Scripts for VLC Player
Dear List members, As the subject line suggest, kindly inform me regarding availability of any JAWS script for VLC. I am interested to know about the following: 1. How to check elapsed / remaining time 2. How to go to a specified play time. 3. Also is there any way in which the player can be configured so that it can start from the point from which it was stopped on previous occasion. 4. Can we change the skip timing from the default of 1 minute (Ctrl+right arrow). Above features shall help in making listening of Audio books more pleasurable. I am working with VLC 2, win7 and jaws 13 (don't remember the detailed version numbers) Looking forward to an affirmative solution to above said problems from our learned members. Hi Mukeshji, The COUNTIF() function can be made use of in data validation for the range of cells that are supposed to avoid duplicate entries. Here's the procedure: 1. Select the range of cells that should avoid duplication. I am selecting J2:j201 for illustrative purpose 2. Press ALT+D followed by L to open Data Validation dialog box for the selected cells. 3. TAB to the Allow combo box and select Custom. 4. TAB to the Formula edit box and enter the following formula: =COUNTIF($J$2:$J$201, J2) = 1 (The spaces in the above formula are just for clarity, they may be ignored) 5. Activate the OK button. Note that this method helps you avoid duplication in the given cell range but doesn't allow other validations on them. I think there's a better method that can help us avoid duplication as well as perform other data validation - please help if someone on the list knows about it. -- Regards, Zujar... Hi Mukeshji, If you do not intend to use backup/restore on your hard disc drives then you can disable the Volume Shadow Copy feature of Windows on selected drives to save disk space and also some amount of time. Volume Shadow Copy is a service that creates restore points on disk drives specified in System Properties. You can disable creation of these restore points to save disk space (good amount of space) and speed up your system a little if you don't intend to use System Restore on selected drives on a future date. Here's how you can select/deselect disk drives that need not be restored by Windows: 1. Type SystemPropertiesProtection in Run window and hit ENTER. The System Properties dialog box is opened with the Protection tab and focus is on the list of disk drives available on your system. 2. Deselect the drives (I deselected C: on my laptop) that need not be restored. 3. Click the OK button. You can also disable the Volume Shadow Copy service if no drive needs be restored. By default, the service is set to start manually, you can leave it as is. Manual means it starts when required and Disabled means it would not start at all. The other option available is Automatic which means that the service would always start itself everytime the computer starts. Below are the steps: 1. Type services.msc in Run window and hit ENTER. 2. TAB once to navigate to the list of services present on your computer. 3. Navigate to the Volume Shadow Copy service using letter navigation and press ENTER on it to open its Properties dialog box. 5. Evaluation of examination papers is an essential part of the teaching job, which we all could accomplish with the help of a reader. In case of internal exams, I am often carrying it out from home with the help of some private readers. But how can we bring them to the centralized exam camps. Is there any specific rule indents to accommodate this special need of the VI teachers issued by UGC? Or has UGC exempted us altogether from this task? The company has invested a good deal for collecting data for Mumbai. It is unlikely they would do so for other cities. In Mumbai, SmartShehar notifies on which side to alight while you are travelling in the train. It also provides details of the locations of trains and buses on the Western Railway, Central Railway, Harbour, Trans-Harbour, and Dahanu Shuttle. The train locator application helps you with details of the origin of a train, its destination, stations en route, the timings, and platform numbers at which it will halt. The app provides details about bus routes in the city as well. Our application can tell you your current location without GPRS or an Internet connection. It uses location information through GPS or cell network, Temkar said. Bus Route Finder Similarly, the BEST Bus Route Finder helps you locate all the nearest bus stops with the distance from your current location and the buses halting at the stop. Further, it has a Mumbai Auto and Taxi Fare Card that tells you what the actual meter reading and fare should be. Since it measures distance travelled and shows the correct meter reading, it can be used as a foil against tampered meters.
