Even if it is mathematical, still the girl should be praised.
Because she does it in just 5 seconds.

Dear friend, it is not very difficult.
It is the game of simple division & multiplication.
For example.
January first 2020 will be wednessday.
Step 1.
Take 19.
Step 2.
Plus 4.
Step3.
Plus 1.
Step4.
Divide it into 7.
The answer will be 3 remaining 3.
Now the last step.
Count that remaining as:
Sunday 0 Monday 1 Tuesday 2 & wednessday 3.
The answer is January 1st 2020 will be Wednessday.
Another example:
August 15th 1947 Was Friday.
Step1.
Take 15.
Step2.
Plus 46 iquals 61.
Step3.
Plus 11 iquals 72.
Step4.
Plus 16 iquals 88.
Step5.
Plus 15 iquals 103.
Step6.
Divide it into7 iquals 7 remaining 5.
Now count it as:
Sunday 0 Monday 1 Tuesday 2 Wednessday 3 Thursday 4 & Friday 5.
It has been proved that India came into being on Friday August 15th 1947.

Subject: [AI] A special child with a special ability

She is indeed a very special child who can simply astonish one with her innate
ability. Ask this 14-year-old girl the date and month of a particular year
anywhere between 1941 and 2050, the reply would at once come in a flash. Try
testing her ability by asking her on which day January 2020 would begin, the
response would again be instant.
Meet K. Priyanka, a special child afflicted with cerebral palsy, yet endowed
with this extraordinary talent. Daughter of an auto driver N.
Kannan, the Tiruchi girl studying eighth standard at Sri Ramakrishna Middle
School in Puthur has the unique ability to name days, dates and identify links
between multiple years. It is for her intuitive ability and uncanny precision
in pinning a day to any date between 1941 and
2050 that earned her the National Award for Best Creative Child With
Disabilities (Girl) recently. It was undoubtedly a proud moment for the girl
and her parents - Kannan and K. Banu when Priyanka received the national award
from none less than the President of India at New Delhi on the occasion of
International Day of Persons with Disabilities recently. The parents cannot
express their delight in words about their daughter's talent.
It is only God's grace, says Kannan and Banu in one voice. It was only in June
2011 that we discovered Priyanka's unique ability, says Banu, a caretaker in a
private school. I wanted to attend a temple function on a particular day in
August and was not sure whether I would be in a position to avail leave on that
day. Listening to this, Priyanka took us by complete surprise by instantly
pointing out that the particular day in August would fall on a Saturday. I
immediately checked the daily sheet calendar and found to my utter surprise
that what she was said was true. From then on we tested Priyanka by giving
random dates, month and year and she would accurately spell out the right
answer every time within five seconds, says Banu. "I feel very happy in
receiving the national award"says a beaming Priyanka whose talent stunned
Collector Jayashree Muralidharan when she tested the girl's ability at the
Collectorate on Monday after the special child met her with the award.

Subject: [AI] VIBEWA Hyderabad meet

Friends
Our first ever meet held at Hyderabad yesterday i.e. Sunday December 7,
2014, at EFLU, has been a grand success.

We had participants even from outside hyderabad from places as far as
Khammam and Tirupati, and women forming about thirty percent of the
participation.
It was a three and a half hours of vibrant interaction wherein everybody
introduced themselves to commence with.
Rajesh Asudani, President VIGBEWA, traced the genisis of VIBEWA, from an e
-group of merely a couple of VI bank employees exchanging mails, determining
the baseline and charting the territory of collective organizational setup
metamorphosing into a national platform taking up the mammoth task of
ensuring optimum productivity of Visually challenged bank and finance
employees.
He celebrated the first sweet success of VIBEWA, in the form of Circular by
Ministry of finance concerning various employment aspects of VI bankers, and
outlined the long and hard path ahead for implementation of many things.
Mr. G. Vamshi thereafter took the discussion to altogether different level
of actual interactions with the participants, concretizing the presidential
precepts.
Active bankers like Mr. B. Jairam, Manager, RBI Nagpur, and Ms. Swathi,
Assistant manager, SBH, infused the environment with confidence by narrating
their journey from passivity to fervent activity inside the bank despite
total blindness. Mr. Jairam likened the contribution to VIBEWA to the
capital expenditure which pays dividends not immediately but in the long
run.
All the participants present were asked to freely shaere their job
experiences.
This brought out many lived experiences of exclusion, discrimination, faulty
job mapping, lack of assistive technology, as well as indomitable will to
work, collective efforts towards productivity, need for awareness raising,
and positive action.
Some of the participants actually took benefit of spot registration and
others left with the feeling of belongingness which impending inclusion in a

Re: [AI] A special child with a special ability

2014-12-09 Thread inamuddin

She is indeed a very special child who can simply astonish one with her
innate ability. Ask this 14-year-old girl the date and month of a particular
year anywhere between 1941 and 2050, the reply would at once come in a
flash. Try testing her ability by asking her on which day January 2020 would
begin, the response would again be instant.
Meet K. Priyanka, a special child afflicted with cerebral palsy, yet endowed
with this extraordinary talent. Daughter of an auto driver N.
Kannan, the Tiruchi girl studying eighth standard at Sri Ramakrishna Middle
School in Puthur has the unique ability to name days, dates and identify
links between multiple years. It is for her intuitive ability and uncanny
precision in pinning a day to any date between 1941 and
2050 that earned her the National Award for Best Creative Child With
Disabilities (Girl) recently. It was undoubtedly a proud moment for the girl
and her parents - Kannan and K. Banu when Priyanka received the national
award from none less than the President of India at New Delhi on the
occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities recently. The
parents cannot express their delight in words about their daughter's talent.
It is only God's grace, says Kannan and Banu in one voice. It was only in
June 2011 that we discovered Priyanka's unique ability, says Banu, a
caretaker in a private school. I wanted to attend a temple function on a
particular day in August and was not sure whether I would be in a position
to avail leave on that day. Listening to this, Priyanka took us by complete
surprise by instantly pointing out that the particular day in August would
fall on a Saturday. I immediately checked the daily sheet calendar and found
to my utter surprise that what she was said was true. From then on we tested
Priyanka by giving random dates, month and year and she would accurately
spell out the right answer every time within five seconds, says Banu. "I
feel very happy in receiving the national award"says a beaming Priyanka
whose talent stunned Collector Jayashree Muralidharan when she tested the
girl's ability at the Collectorate on Monday after the special child met her
with the award.

Hi,
But I really wonder, how could she memorize so many days and dates.
Is there some scientific logic that is used in this technique, or is
it just a 'god's gift'?

Re: [AI] Nvda not reading inverted commas

2014-12-09 Thread Bhavya shah
Hi,
Of course, NVDA will ideally not speak punctuations/symbols set to All
when at Most.
To resolve your issue straightforwardly:
Go to NVDA menu > Preferences submenu > Punctuation/Symbol
Pronunciation... and in the dialog that opens, type the quotation
mark, and NVDA will directly jumpt to the quotation mark symbol in the
symbols list box.
Now tab twice and set the level to the symbol level you usually use NVDA at.
Hope this is a bit clearer.

Re: [AI] Nvda not reading inverted commas

2014-12-09 Thread Rahul Bajaj
Hi All,

Thanks for the instructive responses. However, as I mentioned in my
introductory mail, I have tried changing the punctuation level in
voice settings as well as the particular punctuation level of
quotation marks in the punctuations and symbols menu.
At the moment, the general punctuation level is 'most' and the
punctuation level of quotation marks is 'all'. Despite, this NVDA is
not reading quotation marks. It only reads them when you set the
general punctuation level in voice settings to 'all' which cannot be
done for reasons that I alluded to in my first mail.
What more can I do to fix this?

Best,
Rahul

Thanks.
I DON'T know why MS Outlook is showing error when I tried to open already

Hi,

1. Grab the *.pst file in Outlook. It contains your contacts and e-mail
messages. This assumes you are using pop. If you are using IMAP, then you
need
to backup a different file. See slipstick.com for details.
2. You can copy the file to any location on your computer and point Outlook
to
that file.
3. As for favorites, copy the favorites folder under your user profile and
copy
it back once you upgrade.
4. I cannot comment on outlook's account settings.

[AI] A special child with a special ability

2014-12-09 Thread Boopathi P
She is indeed a very special child who can simply astonish one with
her innate ability. Ask this 14-year-old girl the date and month of a
particular year anywhere between 1941 and 2050, the reply would at
once come in a flash. Try testing her ability by asking her on which
day January 2020 would begin, the response would again be instant.
Meet K. Priyanka, a special child afflicted with cerebral palsy, yet
endowed with this extraordinary talent. Daughter of an auto driver N.
Kannan, the Tiruchi girl studying eighth standard at Sri Ramakrishna
Middle School in Puthur has the unique ability to name days, dates and
identify links between multiple years. It is for her intuitive ability
and uncanny precision in pinning a day to any date between 1941 and
2050 that earned her the National Award for Best Creative Child With
Disabilities (Girl) recently. It was undoubtedly a proud moment for
the girl and her parents - Kannan and K. Banu when Priyanka received
the national award from none less than the President of India at New
Delhi on the occasion of International Day of Persons with
Disabilities recently. The parents cannot express their delight in
words about their daughter's talent. It is only God's grace, says
Kannan and Banu in one voice. It was only in June 2011 that we
discovered Priyanka's unique ability, says Banu, a caretaker in a
private school. I wanted to attend a temple function on a particular
day in August and was not sure whether I would be in a position to
avail leave on that day. Listening to this, Priyanka took us by
complete surprise by instantly pointing out that the particular day in
August would fall on a Saturday. I immediately checked the daily sheet
calendar and found to my utter surprise that what she was said was
true. From then on we tested Priyanka by giving random dates, month
and year and she would accurately spell out the right answer every
time within five seconds, says Banu. "I feel very happy in receiving
the national award"says a beaming Priyanka whose talent stunned
Collector Jayashree Muralidharan when she tested the girl's ability at
the Collectorate on Monday after the special child met her with the
award.

[AI] Disability, identity and disclosure in the online dating environment

2014-12-09 Thread avinash shahi
Abstract

This paper examines how disabled people construct self-identity and
negotiate disclosure of impairment in the online dating environment.
Grounded theory was used to code and analyze 108 responses to an
online open-ended questionnaire completed by disabled people who
engaged in online dating. Findings reveal that while the body and
impairment may not be present in digital space, it plays an important
role in how disabled people present themselves online. This paper
suggests that the embodied/disembodied dichotomy that has been
traditionally used to distinguish offline and online interaction is
blurred in the online

[AI] Article of Interest: Back to the future, disability and the digital divide

2014-12-09 Thread avinash shahi
Friends
I'm working on a theme "technology, Disability and Society" and
struggling to develop a paper based in Indian context. If any of you
has any paper or study done on the theme please guide me.

Abstract
The aim of this article is to explore disability and the digital
divide using a quantitative methodology. The research investigates
what impact digital technologies have had in improving the
life-chances for disabled people from deprived neighbourhoods in the
northeast of England. The study explores how disabled people engage
with digital and assistive technologies in order to overcome disabling
barriers and social exclusion. Unfortunately, the analysis found no
evidence that digital and assistive technologies had any impact on
reducing social exclusion for disabled people. In fact, the research
discovered that these technologies seemed to construct new forms of
disabling barriers as a consequence of the digital divide.

Re: [AI] Nvda not reading inverted commas

2014-12-09 Thread Bhavya shah
Hi,
Go to the NVDA menu > Preferences submenu > Punctuation/Symbol
Pronunciation dialog
Set the desired symbol (in this case quotation marks) to the desired
symbol level (in this case Some or Most).
NVDA wil thereby read the selected symbol at the chosen symbol level.
Also, though you can change the Symbol level through the Voice
Settings dialog, a quicker alternative would be to press NVDA key + P
which will cycle through symbol levels.

2014-12-09 Thread Him Prasad Gautam
hi,
in voice setting you can choose the symbol category as a whole. But
you can not define particular symbol category.
If you want use the quotation mark, first define it in some or most category.
To define a particular symbol to a particular category, first go to
symbol and punctuation pronunciation option. Then set the symbol
category from voice setting.

Hi all,

I am unable to make NVDA read quotation marks in any document. I have tried
altering the punctuation level in voice settings, changing the punctuation
level of quotation marks in particular, etc, but nothing has worked thus far.
The only way to make it read quotation marks is to change the punctuation level
in voice settings to all which is very irritating because it then reads out
every comma and period.
Any pointers would be immensely appreciated.

Re: [AI] fyi PWDs may now buy assistive devices online

2014-12-09 Thread Amar Jain
Dear Mr. Joshi / Ms. Madhumitha: Agreed there are lapses within the
system, there are organizations and governmental authorities which are
not doing the needful in the right manner.

But as beneficiaries we must raise our voice. If you feel that an
appropriate authority is not doing its job in a proper manner then
please take time to reach out to them and seek a solution.

In my limited experience of these few years, one thing which I have
clearly learnt is that there are not enough users (mind my words,
users) not claiming for something and it is only the large group or
organizations which are advocating for so many things. This also leads
to lack of awareness and lack of interest on part of any authority to
do anything.

I know as an individual the struggle increases as you don't have the
contacts, resources, and the big banner to claim anything, but it is
really we as users who are taken more seriously.

On a positive note, if you have any specific issue and you think I can
help you getting a dialogue started as an individual and as a lawyer,
feel free to reach out to me.

Regards,
