If we cannot accept predecided disabled child then how can we expect the non

Question1 Can any woman adopt a child in India? Will my age (I am 41)
or disability be considered negative factors?

According to the law External Website that opens in a new window,
prospective adoptive parents who have a composite age (your age and
your spouse's age added together) of 90 years or less can adopt
infants or young children. A single parent who is not older than 45
years is also eligible to adopt infants or young children. In case of
older and special needs children, the upper age limit can be relaxed
based on the merits of the case. In any case, you need to be an adult,
and the age difference between you and your child has to be atleast
twenty one years.

If your concerns aren't about the law, then there is no 'ideal' age to
become a mother. Maybe in your community it is more common to see
someone with their first baby in their late twenties, and with a
complete family by their mid-thirties. However, it doesn't mean
anything that differs from this norm is incorrect. In fact, the norms
around marriage and children are themselves changing a lot, and what
held true five, ten or fifteen years ago is often no longer the case.
Women are getting married when they think it's the right age, and
having kids only when they are ready - whether it is giving birth to
them or adopting them.

Similarly, while there is no legal barrier preventing someone with a
disability from adopting, you may still face stigma. Adoption agencies
may try to give you a negative mark stating you won't be able to look
after the child and his or her welfare, but don't get daunted by this.
A disabled woman who is a biological mother takes care of her child,
doesn't she? Some may argue that since you are disabled and need
assistance yourself, how will you raise a baby? Again, nondisabled
mothers often hire help to assist them in looking after their
children.

Given your disability - and your partner's, if he or she is also
disabled - people may also make cruel remarks about how you are
ruining the child's life by adding unwanted 'burdens' and
'responsibilities' to his or her life. This is not true! Every mother
is different External Website that opens in a new window in ways that
impact upon a child - some are intelligent, some are argumentative,
some are working professionals with little free time, and others like
you, may be impaired. You may not have the unconditional support of
family, friends and the larger community in the same way that other
couples do.

Single women, lesbian women, and other women who are seen as not
conforming to the societal ideal of womanhood - including working
women - face similar issues. Even when there is an outward show of
support, the decision is often questioned. 'Do you really think you
can handle this?' 'Are you being fair to the child you will adopt?'
'What will people think if an unmarried woman has a child?' Society
often frowns upon single women who choose to bring up children, under
the mistaken belief that without a man and a woman, the family unit
cannot be complete. In reality, there are many different types of
families - joint families, single parents, gay parents - and the
happiness of a child does not depend on the family structure alone.

By choosing to adopt a child, you are giving him or her a loving and
caring mother and family - you as a mother are more than your
impairment, and no one should make you feel otherwise. Many women with
disabilities have successfully adopted and raised

[AI] Bangalore: State’s first differently-abled commissioner abruptly removed

2015-05-20 Thread avinash shahi
This was done in January And I regret I didn't know this
Why people didn't protest against arbitrary fiat of the state government?
http://www.bangaloremirror.com/bangalore/civic/States-first-differently-abled-commissioner-abruptly-removed/articleshow/45926101.cms

Aglorious chapter in the state disabled department - dubbed as
'historic' by the Siddaramaiah government - came to an abrupt end as
Karnataka's first differently-abled state commissioner for persons
with disabilities was unceremoniously shunted out by the state
government. The government's decision came just 16 months after he was
appointed for a three-year term. The Siddaramaiah government's move to
appoint K S Rajanna - who lost his limbs to polio in his early
childhood - as commissioner of the state department for disabled in
September 2013, was a much-hailed decision. He was the voice of over
13 lakh differently-abled persons in Karnataka.

But in a notification dated January 16, the state government has
appointed a congress worker, Kamalakshi Rajanna, as the new state
commissioner for persons with disabilities.

The state government's action of appointing a new commissioner when a
commissioner - that too a differently-abled one was in office -
without any notice, reasons or clarifications, has drawn flak from the
community of differently-abled across the state. They have termed the
government's decision as 'injudicious'.

For the new commissioner Kamalakshi Rajanna, it is a concurrent
posting as she already serves as the chairman of Karnataka State Mango
Development and Marketing Corporation Limited (KSMDMCL), and the
differently-abled feel that she would not be able to give the
department the focus it deserves.

Rajanna had recently cracked the whip against principal secretaries,
secretaries, head of departments (HODs) and deputy commissioners, for
turning a blind eye to the woes of the differently-abled by failing to
implement the Supreme Court directive on effectively implementing the
Persons with Disabilities (equal opportunities, protection of rights
and full participation) act, 1995 (PWD Act) by December 2014. He had
sought details on the same in an effort to bring the differently-abled
into the mainstream.

Rajanna's goals included free entry for the physically challenged to
Vidhana Soudha; free bus passes for the differently-abled; parking
facilities for vehicles of the physically challenged population;
starting a cell to redress their grievances; and creating job and
education opportunities towards greater representation of the
differently-abled in society.

Rajanna is also a quasi-judicial officer. He had been conducting the
court effectively to ensure justice is done to disabled by the
commission. Rajanna had also initiated a process to start survey
afresh across the state of differently-abled to start reforms, but
shown doors midway.

He paid surprise visits to public offices, railway stations and bus
stands to ensure that disabled-friendly facilities were in place.

But the sudden decision to terminate his tenure prematurely has been
a bolt out of the blue.

The order dated January 16, 2015, a copy of which is with Bangalore
Mirror, states: Smt Kamalakshi Rajanna, No 26, Hoskote Taluk,
Bangalore rural district, is appointed as State Commissioner for
Persons with Disabilities under section 60 (1) of the Persons with
Disabilities (Equal opportunities protection of Rights and Full
Participation) Act, 1995 with immediate effect and until further
orders.

Rajanna was not available for comment.

State's move draws flak

The state government, which had moved away from the tradition of
appointing physically fit to the post of commissioner with Rajanna's
appointment, has drawn flak from NGOs, activists working for welfare
of disabled.

The state government had shown tall claims of standing by the
differently-abled community by appointing Rajanna. This had brought
hopes back to thousands of differently-abled in state. The government
had won accolades with the move of choosing one from the community.
But now, they have distanced from the differently-abled. This move is
against the differently-abled and injudicious. We will stage protest
against the government at suitable forum, Jaykumar Hiremath, an
activist and organizing secretary, Helen Keller Association for
Physically Challenged.

New chief confident

The new appointee, Kamalakshi Rajanna, chairman, KSMD MCL confirmed
to Bangalore Mirror the receipt of the government order on Friday and
that she planned to take charge as the new commissioner on Monday.

Kamalakshi hails from neighbouring Hoskote. She is a postgraduate in
Sociology and has worked previously with Vanitha Sahayavani as
counsellor and as a member of Central vigilance monitoring committee
of the Congress party.

I got the orders yesterday. I'm planning to take charge on Monday. I
have conviction and a vision for the welfare of the physically
challenged, so I will work in this regard once I take over, she

2015-05-20 Thread avinash shahi
To an abuser who likes power and control, a disability is perfect. It
is easier to rape or slap someone who cannot move. Women’s Aid refer
to cases where abusers have withheld their girlfriend’s medicine or
deliberately refused to help them get to the toilet. Vulnerability
comes in trying to leave too. Escaping abuse is difficult for any
victim but it’s only compounded when the person abusing you is the one
you rely on to help you dress and get out the house. Cultural stigma
around disability is as much of a trap – the belief that disabled
people are sexless or stupid.

A single parent who is not older than 45

older and special needs children, the upper age limit can be relaxed
based on the merits of the case. In any case, you need to be an adult,
and the age difference between you and your child has to be atleast
 twenty one years.

If your concerns aren't about the law, then there is no 'ideal' age to

 couples do.

Single women, lesbian women, and other women who are seen as not
conforming to the societal ideal of womanhood - including working
women - face similar issues. Even when there is an outward show of

zoher bro, please don't compare the two aspects of child and partner in life.
For children we say cause we don't want the kid to entangle the
trouble and problem we undergo, then, why to do intentionally?
Life partner is different which we can't compare with any.
Ignore the disable tag when you look for a partner. It's only your
compatibility that matters..
During social gathering, does your partner is comfortable with your
presence? Do they feel great of having you ignoring your disability?
Are you supportive in their chorse? Can you amend yourself as per
their expectation? Are you a person of complete integrity in your
married life? Is your love being frank to discuss with you about a
new interesting person whom they met? Are you prepared to forgo your
partner with that new person, since your partner wish? Even if it
happens that your partner has cheated on you, are you ready to accept
with same love? Do you stand on his/her side, even if your parents,
relations, society neglects? Can you live for your partner and for
his/ her family? Is your love unconditional not only for him/her but
also for his/her family?

and many more maybe a experienced person can come out with a lot.
First stand, if you give your truth you'll get back the same.
no one has the right to impose a abled or disabled partner with the
other without desire.
Think then step down to serve your married life, never ever turn back
once you've fixed one.

This was done in January And I regret I didn't know this
Why people didn't protest against arbitrary fiat of the state government?
http://www.bangaloremirror.com/bangalore/civic/States-first-differently-able
d-commissioner-abruptly-removed/articleshow/45926101.cms

Rajanna's goals included free entry for the physically challenged to
Vidhana Soudha; free bus passes for the differently-abled; parking
facilities for vehicles of the physically challenged population;
starting a cell to redress their grievances; and creating job and
education opportunities towards greater representation of the
differently-abled in society.

2015-05-20 Thread Amit Pahuja
has anyone submited the necessary documents to Delhi drm office for getting
ID card? and are they giving any acknowledgement slip for the future
reference? today i visited and the concerned person was on leave. so some
other person asked me to write an application that i need an ID card and
get that photo copied.

on the photocopy, he signed and put the stamp and returned me the copy. he
seemed completely ignorant. he was looking as if i have come from mars or
saturn!

i would like to aske, r they giving proper railway acknowledgement slip for
the reference or they're just putting stamp on the copy of the application
itself and returning?

another question, has anyone on the list got the id card from Delhi drm

 Hi,
 Sumathi,
In my humble opinion, the mentioned price is more than its worth.
 Jayachandran,
If talking guidance facilitated codelesses are these expensive, I
would suggest you to purchase a regular one. This would ensure
mainstreaming, and when its layout is once sufficiently familiarized,
there should arise almost no requirement of sighted assistance.
Can any Sparsh Products or Saksham executive comment on the
availability of a talking guidance facilitated model in India?

Oh! why do you want to buy with the talking facility? I think, you can only
store 5 mobile/telephone numbers with the base instrument and 10 with the
hand-sett, so no use of wasting a big amount.

Hi,
Sumathi,
In my humble opinion, the mentioned price is more than its worth.
Thanks.

I am running windows 7 professional 32 bit. I formatted my window and
reinstalled. But now I m having an error in it, I am getting an error
while installing softwares that 'can not access prefetch'.
When I am opening prefetch through run command I am getting this
message c:\windows\prefetch is not accessible. The file or directory
is corrupted or unreadable. I tried to access prefetch folder going
 into windows\prefetch, but same message.
Now whats the remedy? shall I have reinstall the window? or there is
 any work around?

I have two disks with me, one from where I installed the windows,
another is recovery disk DVD. These are disks which I got with my

What is the use of recovery disk? will it bring the windows to its

All,

I planned to purchase a cordless telephone for BSNL connection. Could
anybody suggest me any good brand of cordless telephone. With all good
features the receiver should get the frequency of BSNL connection in
long distance also. i.e., the receiver should work in maximum distance
also.

Another thing I would like to know is whether cordless telephone with
talking caller ID is available in the market.

Re: [AI] Cordless Landline telephone

2015-05-20 Thread Bhavya shah
Hi,
Sumathi,
In my humble opinion, the mentioned price is more than its worth.
Thanks.
