Re: [AI] PWD Topper

2015-07-06 Thread Mohib Anwar Rafay
Yes, PWD qualified on marits will not be counted in reserve list. But
the million $question is that who PWD would be considered to be
qualified on his own mairt? They interpret it as per their own
contrivance.
Qualifying on marit doesn't necessarily mean to obtain marks
equivalent to general category candidates and figured out in final
marit. how have you reached to that final list? It will be calculated
on different factors, such as (I), did you claim any age relaxation,
because it is not available to general category candidate. (ii), did
you get extra time in exam, as it is not available to general category
candidates. (iii), did you use scribe, as he may improve the contents
of your answers!
This is UPSC, and it is the biggest thug of the world.

[AI] JAGATSINGHPUR Odisha: A partially-blind girl raped

2015-07-06 Thread avinash shahi
http://www.newindianexpress.com/states/odisha/Partially-Blind-Girl-Raped/2015/07/07/article2906846.ece
JAGATSINGHPUR: A partially blind minor girl was raped and assaulted by
two persons at Harishpur village under Nuagaon police limits on
Saturday. After the village heads failed to punish the accused, the
girl’s father lodged an FIR at Nuagaon police station on Sunday night.

The girl, belonging to Dalit community, was returning from agriculture
field on Saturday evening when Mithun Bhoi and Ganesh Bhoi of the same
village abducted her and took her to an isolated place. They gagged
the girl and then assaulted her as a result of which, she fell
unconscious. The accused then raped her and fled.

As the girl did not return home for a long time, her parents started
searching for her only to find her lying unconscious in the field.
After regaining consciousness, the girl informed her parents about the
incident.

When the parents took up the matter with the village heads, the latter
desisted from registering a police case as it would bring bad name to
the village. Later, they conducted a meeting where they imposed a fine
of Rs 50,000 on each accused. This, however, did not go down well with
the families of the accused who threatened the girl’s father of dire
consequences.

Then, the girl’s father filed a police case against the two accused,
who are now absconding

[AI] Toll free eye donation number

2015-07-06 Thread Kotian, H P
All

A friend of mine lost a close relative. The deceased had expressed her wish to
donate her eyes. however, when the day came, no one arround could help the
family provide the number.

The doctors were also hopelessly misinformed and tried to convince the family
that eye donation could not be done after the age of 50. Even, justdial could
not provide any info.
The national eye donation toll free number is 1919

We all need to put our bit across to pass on this valuable info.

I wanted to check on the effectiveness of the system and so I called this
numver. After many ring, a lady answered the call. I checked if she could
provide the nearest hospital. She was unable to help, however, she gave me her
husband's numver which is8108536536
Iagain called up this numver for a long while this number was busy and finally
got through. I again posed the same query. He replied that one should call this
numver only if someone has passed away and thereafter they will assess if
someone could be sent.

I don't think this is a workable system which will cater to this large country.
I am not surprised eye donation is very low in the country.

We need to work out some system which will give results.
I am unsure if localised help is done through this numver. Maybe folks can try
out in their area.

[AI] PWD Topper

2015-07-06 Thread Asudani, Rajesh
Friends
Now that a PWD has topped civil services, I am thinking whether she will be

reserved vacancies counted accordingly.
Question is surely not new, and DOPT OM says PWD qualifying on merit should not
be adjusted against reserved vacancies, but I wonder, does it happen actually?

have been using it for the last five years without having any access to

In case one could use NVDA for Hindi (though English also is always worth
NVDA), Hindi is very very accessible both reading & writing. JAWS in this
respect has many limitations like one gets lot of problem in accessing
Hindi Lekha in 64 bits JAWS 14 & above. For NVDA users with Hindi, one
may personally contact me.

hi,

No need to combine them.

The Hindi typing tool types devanaagari letters and the Hindi reader

will read them.

That is all. Mind that the typing tool has no relation with reading

software. It is equally useful to sited persons too.

If you are a screen reader user, read the letters by lekha or any

other tool and if you are sited person, just see them by your eyes.

The duty of Hindi tool is to generate the Devanagari letters at the

screen of the computer.

Once they are generated, it is up to you how to access them; by TTS

like lekha or just see by human eyes!

Re: [AI] Require Hindi typing tool

2015-07-06 Thread SKYLINER
In case one could use NVDA for Hindi (though English also is always worth
NVDA), Hindi is very very accessible both reading & writing. JAWS in this
respect has many limitations like one gets lot of problem in accessing Hindi
Lekha in 64 bits JAWS 14 & above. For NVDA users with Hindi, one may
personally contact me.

On Mon, 06 Jul 2015 14:49:48 +0530 Him Prasad Gautam wrote

Researchers to Demonstrate Their Solution for Cheaper Braille Displays
at Chicago Haptics Conference
J.J. Meddaugh Sunday, 21-Jun-2015 9:29 PM ET
Stop us if you've heard this one before. A team of researchers are
developing a multiline braille display that could dramatically reduce
the cost and increase braille literacy. This isn't a rerun, rather
another in a growing list of projects aiming to combat the fall of
braille adoption in recent years. Sile O’Modhrain and Brent Gillespie,
two researchers from the University of Michigan will present their
findings at the World Haptics Conference in Chicago on Tuesday.
According to an article from the Economist, The screen of the device
includes a grid of pins the diameter of Braille dots. Normally, the
tops of these pins are flush with the screen’s surface. When needed,
though, they can be pushed upwards to create patterns representing
Braille symbols. This is possible because each pin rests on a
silicone-rubber membrane that sits above a small cavity. The cavity
is, in turn, connected to a tiny pneumatic line and valve. When air is
blown through the valve into the cavity, the membrane balloons up,
pushing the pin above the screen’s surface."
The researchers anticipate that a display the size of a tablet, with
26 lines of 40 cells each, could be sold for under $1,000.

Re: [AI] Require Hindi typing tool

2015-07-06 Thread Him Prasad Gautam
hi,
No need to combine them.
