[AI] Issue with Microsoft Outlook using NVDA

2015-08-19 Thread Tejas Karanje
Dear all,

Greetings!

I have a query on Microsoft Outlook using with NVDA. I don’t know how
many of you have come across such issue, but currently I am facing
very serious issue while working on the Microsoft Outlook with NVDA.
When I work on the Outlook using the NVDA, the Outlook stops
responding. If I have other programs running apart from the Outlook,
they work fine. But when I bring my focus on the Outlook by pressing
the ALT+TAB combination, the NVDA does not speak anything. It just
says “Microsoft Outlook is not responding”. When I press ALT+F4 on
Outlook, the Windows throws a dialog box. The dialog box says “Please
wait for the program to respond or restart the program”. Many times, I
have waited a lot, but the program has never responded. Hence, I have
to restart the Outlook every time when it stops responding. Please
note, I don’t face this issue when I use Outlook with JAWS.

Friends, kindly help if anyone knows any solution. I have mentioned
the technical details below for your reference:

I use:
Windows 7 64-bit operating system
Microsoft Outlook 2007
NVDA 2015.2

Thanking you in advance.

Regards,
Tejas

[AI] More questiions regarding google drive.

2015-08-19 Thread Balaraman

Dear all,
first of all, let me thank the one who had earlier posted a reply to my
questions.

Sorry for forgetting the name.
Thanks very much for the info.
Yes indeed, I could change the google drive folder to D drive.
Now more doubts.
1. Though I am able to get the message that syncing complete, I am not
able to share the files.

What can be the reason?
2. I am getting the message that only 0.5 percent of the space is used.
I have added up to at least five GB of data since morning and at least
one GB should have got uploaded by now.

Why I am getting the same message about the space used?
3. By going to the settings, I am only getting a pause button, I mean,
unlike in dropbox, I am not able to know the uploading details.

Any chance to know the details of the upload?
Are there jaws scripts for google drive?
Expecting your useful replies.

introduction and updates
To: NVDA screen reader development nvda-de...@lists.sourceforge.net

Hi,

Once or twice a year, users and developers of NVDA gather together to talk
about NVDA's features and to discuss related topics. This conference, called
NVDA Users and Developers Conference (NVDACon) is designed to allow users,
developers and third-party supporters to discuss NVDA freely and exchange
ideas and information.

I'm delighted to announce that there will be a second conference for year
2015. NVDACon 2015.2 is likely to take place sometime in November 2015 over
a TeamTalk connection (TT5 will be required). So far, organizers received
numerous requests for a session on Windows 10, and we'll have a session
dedicated to plan a special tenth year anniversary NVDACon next year.

Thanks, and hope to see you at NvDACon 2015.2.

Cheers,

Joseph

Hi Tejas,

Please try launching Outlook in safe mode when using NVDA. I am using Outlook
2013 on windows 7 ultimate 64bit without this problem. In addition, please try
release candidate 1 of NVDA 2015.3 and check if the problem persists.

If you are able to launch outlook in safe mode, then the problem is most likely
an addin that is interfearing with the launch process.

There may be some problem with the software, So, its better to remove MS

If you don't find the solution of your problem even after the installation
with the another installer, then, its better to use Outlook6 instead of

Instead of verifying candidate-own scribe's document on the date of

aspirants were busy
doing last-minute preparation, blind candidates struggled from pillar
to post in reaching the different centres for availing permission to

following yesterday: Those at the exam center in Coimbatore did not
provide a scribe,
and also denied entry to the scribe she took with her. They told her
that she should have obtained permission for bringing her own scribe
one week earlier.
They also told her that even otherwise she should have informed the
exam center one week earlier that she would not bring her own scribe

[AI] Smart help for blind wins Indian MIT innovator award

Smart help for blind wins Indian MIT innovator award
- by Aditi Tandon, Tribune News Service, New Delhi, August 18, 2015

When Rohan Paul started working on an electronic navigation device for the
visually-challenged during his under-graduation at IIT Delhi in 2005, he
had no idea where the innovation would lead him.

Today SmartCane, the device, has earned Rohan the honour of being MIT
Technology Review’s Innovator Under-35 for 2015.

The award was presented at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
today, with the scale of Rohan’s achievement clear from the list of past
winners, which includes Google’s cofounders Larry Page and Sergey Brin,
Facebook’s cofounder Mark Zuckerberg and Apple’s chief designer Jonathan
Ive.

The introduction to Rohan’s work, featured in the latest edition of MIT
Technology Review, reads: “To create an affordable obstacle detection
system for blind people, this MIT postdoc began by simply asking them what
they needed.” Each year since 1999, the Editors of MIT Technology Review,
have selected exceptionally talented young innovators whose work they
believe has the greatest potential to transform the world; 35 innovators
are selected annually.

Ask 30-year-old Rohan how it all began and he recalls his 2005 visit to the
National Institute for the Blind in Delhi. The visit was part of an IIT
course that required students to develop solutions for real-life problems,
something Prime Minister Narendra Modi now calls “Make in India”.

“We heard how the visually challenged get injured after hitting high
objects the white canes they carry can’t detect. These objects can be
trucks, branches, open windows, parked vehicles or just walkers. SmartCane
was born out of the urge to help such people,” says Paul, currently at
MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Labs as a postdoc.

Created as a student project at IIT Delhi by Rohan, his IIT teachers, NGO
Saksham and industry partner Phoenix Medical Devices, Chennai, SmartCane
was launched last year. It hopes to reach over a million people worldwide.

Rohan explains why the product is important, saying, “It is a sleek
handle-shaped attachment which fits on the traditional white cane the
visually challenged already carry. During tests in 2012, users reported 95
per cent fewer collisions with SmartCane. It sends out vibrations of
different kinds to alert the users.” The device costs Rs 3,000; comparable
devices globally cost Rs 65,000 plus. Also, while the traditional white
cane can detect only low hanging objects from 0.5 meters, SmartCane can
detect low and knee-above obstacles from three meters. It, therefore,
prevents unwanted contact.

Showing e-way to visually impaired

A postdoc at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Rohan Paul has
invented SmartCane, an electronic navigation device, for the visually
challenged
The device, which costs Rs 3,000, fits on the traditional white cane
and sends out vibrations to users in case of any obstacle on their way.
A former student of IIT Delhi, Rohan got the motivation to create the
device when he visited the National Institute for the Blind in Delhi in
2005.

We know that in caves of Khajuraho and Konark are carved quite explicit scenes.
Now I want to know if any of us has actually enjoyed exploring those carvings

Are they discernible clearly tactually?
Or we have to rely on audio description only, which even by our family may not

Subject: [AI] Issue with Microsoft Outlook using NVDA

 Dear all,

 Regards,
 Tejas

You can take any article in flight.
However, some items are not allowed inside the plane like liquids, sharp
items, perfumes.
But you can take all these items and send them through baggage which would
come along with you in plane.
Thanks
