[AI] What Facilities Are Visually Handicapped Students Entitled To At Universities In India?
Hi AccessIndia mates? Congratulations on India's convincing win over Pakistan last weekend and their narrow victory against Bangladesh just awhile ago! I have a couple of questions regarding the facilities available to the blind and visually impaired students at Indian universities. Are visually challenged students entitled to 1. full or partial exemption in tuition fees and other charges at universities such as JNU, Univ. of Delhi, Univ. of Mumbai, and the IITs? 2. avail any other special facilities and / or accommodations? 3. admission on some special quota reserved for them? If so, how much is this reservation? 4. any facilities for studying the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects? Regards. Rajesh, Jaws transforms the regular ribbons into a menu driven interface. This is why they are called virtual ribbons. It is the same process that screen readers follow with web pages. They render them like documents as opposed to how the pages actually are. Re: [AI] Chrome cast, an alternative to smart TV for the blind
hello prashant sir, i am currently using yupp TV on my moto g gen 1. the company is also offering apps for smart TVs as well as apps for android set top boxes. al though the channels names are easily spoken by talkback. but some of the buttons are not labled that is why i am not able to view on a full screen and not able to add the desired channels as favourite. so i request you to kindly explore the same with cromcast. as it offer cheaper subscribtion then the reputed dth service providers. Re: [AI] a happy news to share
Hi: Amar has listed several worthwhile suggestions in his post. English by no means is a tough nut to crack. However, there is a challenge which is easy to overcome. English has more exceptions than rules which calls for intense real time practice as opposed to an exclusive study of grammatical principles. To reduce if not completely eliminate hesitation, you should try to speak in English as much as possible and listen to spoken word recordings in English. As they say, accepting the fact that there is indeed a problem worthy of correction is half the battle won. There are many online free English learning resources that help you to enhance your capabilities through real time interactive practice. Fortunately, most of them are accessible. Here are a few: http://learn-english-today.com/ http://www.manythings.org/ http://fluentzy.com/ Scroll down to the bottom of the page for a free PDF. Once you are ready to test your language expertise, you can visit the following website to take a few free tests: http://www.englisch-hilfen.de/en/exercises_list/alle_grammar.htm Good luck! Quite happy to see your attitude to improve on the issues which you will be facing. I'm unaware whether you have studied through audio books mostly or you have studied in a blind school in which English as a language was not given importance. Anyways, here is what I can share: 1. For spellings, use proofing tools of Microsoft Word, although exercise care while choosing the right suggestions. 2. For grammar, the more you read and the more you write, you'll get better at it. Another helpful tip is to go through basic sentence construction norms once again. Read newspapers like Livemint, The Hindu, Business-Standard, among others. 3. Keep punctuation set to all in your screen reader, so that you get to learn appropriate usage of punctuation marks as you read. 4. Read about formatting, learn about spacing in documents and e-mails. If RBI has document support executives, then make them your best friends and learn as you go. Justified text, bold, underlining, highlighting, are some of the important attributes you will need to use on a day to day basis. Learn about screen reader formatting specific commands, they are extremely useful if you want to understand how documents are formatted. 5. Spelling construction rules also help many individuals, so you may want to read about them. Check with NAB Mumbai if they will have Rapidax latest recording.
