A complete peace of nonsense.
In fact, its really encouraging if union sports minister himself is
taking the initiative to get blindfolded and promote blind cricket.

Re: [AI] how to educate railway [passengers?

2017-01-31 Thread Vamshi. G
Dear Sazid,

I worked in a bank branch at the enquiry desk where I had to handle
hundreds of customers everyday. Never I faced any problem where a
customer/colleague complained about not making eye contact. I am
surprised that customers are complaining in railways about this.

Now coming to the solution,

1. You can have a board saying, "Oral enquiries; Counters x and y for
 platform tickets".

2. In my case I was uncomfortable in a counter. Therefore I used to
have a table and chair where I took enquiries from only one side so
that I would be handling only one customer at a time. Is something
like that possible?

3. Though difficult, make the first greet to the passenger with a
smile. That usually calms down. Having said this, it depends on the
mood of the other person as well.

Dear list,
As you know that I am working in railway enquiry counter in which i
has to interact with many passengerss. Yesterday as my routine work
is contiuned one of our headwaters officer observed me and told to my
section supervisor that i am not making eye contact with the
passenger. After my supervisor told him that I am a visually
challenged person he asked to keep any sign board stating that this
counter is unning by a blind. In my view he is correct many of times
many passengers complaint the same with me when i told the fact they

Can’t we think above jaws and talks?
Come on friends it wasn’t documentary. It was commerssial film. So
watch with minimum expaectation.
Personally I liked everything about movie.
In my view they have tried to make the movie as much realistic as
possible keeping in mind that it wasn’t art film.
And rajesh sir the movie is far better as well as realistic than aankhe.

[AI] how to educate railway [passengers?

2017-01-31 Thread sushmee...@voicevision.in

Dear Sazid

Great to know that you are daily addressing lots of passengers directly.

I hope you are guiding them or resolving their queries. Is it similar to an
enquiry counter or anything else.

My suggestion if its an enquiry counter, you can have a sign board saying
"Enquiry Counter", this will enable passengers seeking tickets not to reach out
to your counter. And avoid confusion or frustration.

If it's not an enquiry counter, then think about your role and have a sign
board of it. Rather than having a board saying blind person, highlight your
work. It will surely add to your dignity.

These are just my suggestion, you may ignore them if you don't find it
appropriate.

Subject: [AI] how to educate railway [passengers?

Dear list,
As you know that I am working in railway enquiry counter in which i has to
interact with many passengerss. Yesterday as my routine work is contiuned one
of our headwaters officer observed me and told to my section supervisor that i
am not making eye contact with the passenger. After my supervisor told him
that I am a visually challenged person he asked to keep any sign board stating
that this counter is unning by a blind. In my view he is correct many of times
many passengers complaint the same with me when i told the fact they regretted.
hence i request you how should i keep a sign board and what should it should
be written? without hurting our dignity. As public dealing is a difficulttask
in railways.

thanks and regards,
sazid

Re: [AI] how to educate railway [passengers?

2017-01-31 Thread Sruti disAbility Rights Centre
Dear all,

One may require a signboard when one is dealing with large number of people
particularly in a customer care kind of work. This is true when one's
disability is not obvious or invisible.

I have seen a signboard in one shopping mall - it was written " This cash
counter is managed by our disabled team member. We request your
cooperation". I saw a hearing impaired person behind this particular
counter. He was taking slightly more time than others, as communicating
with him about exact change was not as fluent as compared to others. It was
a crowded mall but no one complained - I was off course there for a brief
period of time. But later I found that disabled people working there are
quite satisfied.

Thought sharing this might be helpful in this discussion.

Shampa Sengupta

Hello Sazid,
I totally agree things has to be done without any genuine delay. What make
you to think you would not be able to perform the tasks without delay? Can
you please describe what kind of duties would you be performing? If my
knowledge is correct, you may work on something like 1. Answering questions
about train departure / arrival, platform numbers etc., 2. Selling of
platform tickets

Are you provided with a computer and a screen reader?

As we are talking about inclusion, we should also look for solutions that
makes us productive at work place. Since I do not know ground reality of
your job, need some more information to put our brains together for a
win-win results for both you, railways and your customers.

Best wishes,

As public dealing is a difficulttask
in railways.

thanks and regards,
sazid
