Hi there,


Smartcane is a mobility device which enhances the capabilities of a 
normal cane. It fits on the top fold of the cane and detects obstacles 
from knee to head height up to three meters. The device uses the 
ultrasonic rays and alerts the users about the obstacles through 
different vibration patterns. As one gets closer to an obstacle, the 
vibrations intensify. The device has two modes for navigation which are 
out door and indoor. In the latter, the detection happens up to two 
meters. The device provides feedback using total four different 
vibration patterns when used in outdoor mode and three in indoor mode. 
The device uses chargeable battery which can run up to a week with the 
normal usage of three-four hours a day.

[AI] IRCTC not picking up Divyang quota

Dear Accessindians,

IRCTC is not picking up divyang quota and it makes reservation under
general quota only. It gives concessional ticket, but the reservation
is made under general quota giving a long waiting list. I made
reservation on 113-12-2018 for 15th of December and I was placed under
general waiting list. On 15th of December I was not cleared. Therefore
I cancelled my ticket. Again, I made my ticket for 29th of December
and the reservation was made in the general quota. Of course, it
showed two berths available for handicapped.

May I request concerned persons to take up this matter with IRCTC?
Earlier, IRCTC was working fine.

I downloaded & installed the ABC Amber converter. But whenever I select a 
.lit file to convert, the software hangs & I have to close it through the 
Task Manager.


I am using a 64-bit computer with Windows 10 as my OS.

Kindly guide as to how to resolve this problem.

Hi Sameer,

.lit is an obsolete format which was invented few years ago by Microsoft. 
However since then they have abandoned it and tools to open such material are 
available online for free. If I’m not wrong, you may find it by the name of 
Dr.reader or some such thing. I suggest, you try looking for these books in 
AlterNet formats like Kindle et cetera in order to save yourself the headache 
of Converting these books into relevant formats. However, if you still need 
these books, you may look for this utility online and me go ahead with the 
relevant conversion.
