Thanks a lot Zujar. The Jaws shortcuts are of some help, but I just
hate what Microsoft has done! Do you if there are any programs like
classic start menu for Office that can fix this issue. ?
Best,

Hi Mahesh,

They have replaced the dialog box based Spell checker with a pane on the

However, the shortcuts like ALT+G for Ignore All, ALT+L for Change All,
etc

do not function any more. I am currently working using the TAB key though
not as convenient as the shortcut keys.

You can also try out the JAWS keystroke ALT+SHIFT+L for listing
identified

Spelling errors and the keystroke INSERT+SHIFT+G for listing identified
grammatical errors in Ms Word. Note that these keystrokes sometimes take
long to produce output in large documents.

Some additions to Spell check utility includes options like Read Aloud,
Spell out, etc. These options may not be much useful to users of screen
reading software however others may find them useful.

Subject: [AI] Issue with spell checker on Microsoft Word

Dear all,
I am facing an issue with Microsoft word, Office 365 2016. As Word got
updated, I can't access the old style spell checker. Instead, the newly
introduced editer comes up on pressing F7. It is hard to navigate with
Jaws

or NVDA, and the shortcut keys don't work consistently. Ander all these
years of using the earlier system, I am finding the new thing from
Microsoft
rather distasteful. Anyways I can get back the old style spell checker
that

is accessible with screen readers?
Thanks in advance,

Re: [AI] AI help regarding new passport.

2019-05-06 Thread sampath raj rao
Then use your aadhaar card for address proof, and your sslc
certificate for your name proof and ofcourse they usually check for
your SSLC certificate for name as I was informed due to the reason
that the certificate of qualification is required for non ECR and to
be a valid qualification if the certifificate has to be used abroad.

In my case they asked for neither voter id nor PAN card.
I was also informed that aadhaar was enough.

Even if the problem persists with your passport verifier, then you can
apply for address change in PAN and you can receive your new card
within a month...

but above all, I don't think the address is printed neither side of
the card and no one can ask for difference in address unless they
login your pan card portal
And voter id is also optional in the application and so leave it blank.

 here is step-by-step procedure :

 1. first register yourself on passport.gov.in
 2. apply online for passport. there are 2 ways, either you can fill
 the
form online or can download a pdf file and upload after you fill the
 entire
 information.
 3. once you fil or upload the form you will get acknowledgement number
 in
 your portal.
 4. open that acknowledgement number and make payment.
 5. once you have made payment you can reach to your passport centre
 with
 all
your original documents. you need not to take online appointment
 handicapped
are allowed as walkin customer with their escort. also you will get a
special token number without waiting time.
 6. documents required: aadhar card, pan card, your bank passbook
 updated
with last six months entry. please note that your name and your
 father's
name should appear same on your aadhar, pan, and bank's passbook. your
address should be same in your aadhar and bank passbook. better is to
 carry
 a passbook of nationalised bank.
 7. if you are a government or public sector employee then you must
 obtain

 a
no objection certificate with your photo from your employer. police
verification not required if you obtained NOC.

 hope it helps.

Some keystrokes like I for Ignore, Enter key for Change, etc work. However,
G for Ignore All, L for Change All, etc seem to not work. Maybe some
alternatives that need be explored.

try this:
Use short cuts like alt+c alt+i without using 'alt'.
just press 'c' 'i' and so on.

Re: [AI] AI help regarding new passport.

2019-05-06 Thread bhawani shankar verma
in passport application form you have to mention your old status of
residence. there is a colomn that whether you are living in the address
since birth, if not, you have to mention the details of your residence
changes. in such cases police verification will also be done either from
your current or old residence.

here is step-by-step procedure :

1. first register yourself on passport.gov.in
2. apply online for passport. there are 2 ways, either you can fill the
form online or can download a pdf file and upload after you fill the
entire
information.
3. once you fil or upload the form you will get acknowledgement number
in
your portal.
4. open that acknowledgement number and make payment.
5. once you have made payment you can reach to your passport centre with
all
your original documents. you need not to take online appointment
handicapped
are allowed as walkin customer with their escort. also you will get a
special token number without waiting time.
6. documents required: aadhar card, pan card, your bank passbook
updated

with last six months entry. please note that your name and your father's
name should appear same on your aadhar, pan, and bank's passbook. your
address should be same in your aadhar and bank passbook. better is to
carry
a passbook of nationalised bank.
7. if you are a government or public sector employee then you must
obtain

a
no objection certificate with your photo from your employer. police
verification not required if you obtained NOC.

hope it helps.

Re: [AI] Bluetooth headset with reduced latency

2019-05-06 Thread Vikas Kapoor
My personal view is that whatever quality the bluetooth headset you are
having, it always creates a problem in windows with JAWS. I suppose there's
some frequency interfereance between WiFi and blutetooth because both of
them use 2.4Ghz. I've also noticed in Windows that if your bluetooth is
turned on, your wifi speed would drasticallly fluctuate, but if on the other
hand your bluetooth radio is turned off, there's a significant stability in
wifi speed. I'm having two computers with me and, this is the case with both
of them.

Re: [AI] Suggestions for increased inclusiveness in general elections.

2019-05-06 Thread Vaishnavi Jayakumar (Inclusive India)
Dear Mr Kulkarni,

For those who do not know Braille we have a workaround. Please access
http://bit.ly/form-7a for details. We are trying to get ECI to make its
document tables etc properly accessible - so far they have only made the
candidate list in EVM order available on mobile apps
Voter Helpline - Android and iOS and
PwD app on Android.

It would be very helpful if you could fill the #votability feedback form at
http://bit.ly/votability with your suggestions and experience sharing.

Some queries :

a) What languages were Braille Ballot candidate lists available?
b) If there were more than 15 candidates necessitating linked EVMs, could
you read the top centre Braille sticker on the balloting unit? If so what
was written and in which language?

As far as assisted voting goes, there is no need for a form to be filled if
a person's help is restricted to navigating and the actual vote with be
cast by the voter concerned. The voter is guided to the booth and the
assistant leaves the voter to cast vote in privacy and returns only once
vote has been cast. Only if there is difficulty in reading or pressing the
button and the person is accompanied by the companion while voting,
does Section
49N apply with companion having
to fill Form 14A. The following extract will clarify why an election
official cannot perform a companion's role, nor strictly speaking should a
standalone volunteer as a person can be a companion voter only once.

Section 49N in The Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961
49N. Recording of votes of blind or infirm electors.—
(1) If the presiding officer is
satisfied that owing to blindness or other physical infirmities an elector
is unable to recognise the symbol on the balloting unit of the voting
machine or unable to record his vote by pressing the appropriate button
thereon without assistance the presiding officer shall permit the elector
to take with him a companion of not less than eighteen years of age to the
voting compartment for recording the vote on his behalf and in accordance
with his wishes: Provided that no person shall be permitted to act as the
companion of more than one elector at any polling station on the same day:
Provided further that before any person is permitted to act as the
companion of an elector on any day under this rule that person shall be
required to declare that he will keep secret the vote recorded by him on
behalf of the elector and that he has not already acted as the companion of
any other elector at any other polling station on that day.
(2) The presiding officer shall
keep a record in Form 14A of all cases under this rule.

Thanks for sharing your experience and suggestions!

Re: [AI] Bluetooth headset with reduced latency

2019-05-06 Thread Austin Pinto
now a days mainly on laptops there is only 1 card that gives bluetooth and wifi.
if you want to see a speed difference, you can use the internal card
for wifi and get a usb bluetooth card.
or if your internet speed is under 480mbps you can use the internal
card for bluetooth and get a usb wifi card however the speed of your
wifi will then depend on the speed of your usb.

Re: [AI] Bluetooth headset with reduced latency

2019-05-06 Thread sheik mohammedali
No it does not make any difference actually.
if the frequency comstantly releases there is no problem.
for instance just play the music and you will not see any latency problem.
This only with the speech where the frequency is not constant.
You know another annoying problem with these bluetooth headphones with PCs?
If your mike is being used you cannot hear the audio.
Means its mike and speakers cannot be used simultaneously.

Thanks and best regards,
Ali

My personal view is that whatever quality the bluetooth headset you are having,
it always creates a problem in windows with JAWS. I suppose there's some
frequency interfereance between WiFi and blutetooth because both of them use
2.4Ghz. I've also noticed in Windows that if your bluetooth is turned on, your
wifi speed would drasticallly fluctuate, but if on the other hand your
bluetooth radio is turned off, there's a significant stability in wifi speed.
I'm having two computers with me and, this is the case with both of them.

for nvda there is a addon that plays a frequency tone which you cant
listen so that the bluetooth headphones dont enter standby mode but it
reduces the battery life although i have not seen the difference of
battery life with the addon enabled or disabled
