Re: [AI] Help regarding finding out any RP related genetic disorder in the expected child

2022-08-29 Thread Harish Kotian

Hi

It is correct, the doctor's can tell only about genetic disorder in your
body. In the offspring there is combination of genes in yours and your
wife's genetic makeup. What will express in the fetus is almost unique
with millions of combinations.

I would suggest you visit L.V. Prasad to get a genetic profile of the
fetus. It is possible to do so by taking a sample from the fluid around
the fetus. There is also some risks involved in this procedure and it is
recommended to be aware of the consequences by discussing it thoroughly
with the gynecologist, finding out the right time for taking the test
and the time to decide about the pregnancy.

Re: [AI] Bank debit and credit card accessibility

2022-08-29 Thread Harshit Lohia
H Prashant,
Since you asked for physical card, identification should be by touch
and without use of any mobile technology. Additionally, the solution
should be usable by both those who kno braille and by those who do
not. So, I propose the following.
1. For debit card (which is most prominent card): All the corners
should be proper or without any tactile marks
2. For Credit card: One of the corner (which is opposite to EMV chip)
can be cut diagonally or or a tactile mark like circle (as is there in
keypad of talking ATM) can be embossed or cut out.
3. For prepaid cards: both the corners (opposite of Chip) can be cut
diagonally or a tactile mark like straight line sign (as is there in
keypad of talking ATM) can be embossed or cut out.
The above solution should be used uniformly by all card issueing banks
and non-banking entities.

For identification of banks or card issuing entity braille can b used
as proposed by Minar. For those who do not use braille, this is not a
big hurdle as not many people would carry credit card/debit card of
multiple banks simultaneously.

Regards
Harshit

Which accessibility features in the debit and credit card (physical one)
will help us as a visually impaired person to distinguish different types
of cards, different bank cards and for ease of access to ATM or POS or
other channels?

Re: [AI] From Charging Lakhs to Offering Proxy Candidates, Is Exam 'Scribe Service' Turning Into 'Business'?

2022-08-29 Thread anirudh rao
hi Vivek,
being myself in the education sector, I think the first step for any
improvement is to have a robust system of education.
it is always better to have introduced to various matters like
mathematics and computers in the school levels than getting introduced
in the employment.
infact, we are provided the employment on the basis of these skills
and not on the ground of just disability.
we cannot blame the government and the banks for these but, our own so
called special schools.
by the way I am from Shimoga too!

2022-08-29 Thread Minar Singh
The ways in which individuals and groups are portrayed in popular
media can have a profound effect on how they are viewed by society at
large. Since many decades PWD section is portrayed as incapable of
living happy and successful life. Use of derogatory language against
PWD in songs and movie dialog is common. This is right time to boycott
entire film industry. Soon OTT will replace film industry. People
having secular mindset will oppose every good thing.

Yes Anirudh NFB have railway concession format feeded in their
computer, when you go to them they just enter your details, paste
passport size photo and issue concession certificate, no need to cary
any blank concession certificate to NFB, it is also true you should be
member of NFB that you can enrol by paying Rs.100/

I think you should seek advice of both gynecologist as well as
Ophthalmologists. It is difficult to detect hearing and vision loss
unlike other disabilities. After the completion of 14th week of
pregnancy Your doctor may suggest ultrasound.

dear friends out there,
I asked one of the staffs of NFB here in Karnataka.
I am giving the gist of what he told me over a telephone call.
the concession certificate can be obtained by NFB here on furnishing
the documents but, to get the smart card to apply online, we must go
to the devisional office/DRM.
to do that, you must be an NFB member first.

This apply online option is for photo identity card for issuing e
tickets. You will find towards the bottom a download link for pdf
format of the concession certificate. You have to obtain a concession
certificate in this format from any government hospital.

However, government hospitals in West Bengal are not registered with
this portal. So we cannot apply online. We can only apply off line to
 the nearest DRM office.

Re: [AI] From Charging Lakhs to Offering Proxy Candidates, Is Exam 'Scribe Service' Turning Into 'Business'?

2022-08-29 Thread vivek doddamani
Friends, I was silent on this topic till now, because in 2018 I had
raised this issue in this group that many VI candidates are entering
bankin sector without any knowledge of english & Computer through back
door then many members of this group suggested me to keep quiet, here
many of them are talking about computer & modern technology I would
like to ask them in Delhi that is capital of India many Visually
impaired officials are working in Central government & delhi
government offices & schools in those officials how many of them have
at least knowledge of computers and modern technology like scanner,
recorder etcetra I can assure here 75% of those officials do not have
proper knowledge of computer, even bank employees here in Delhi
working as POs & assistant managers do not have basic knowledge of
computers, they are forced to sit in enquiries & for issuing forms,
neither government offices are banks are interested in training these
employees in computer knowledge or assistant technology then how can
you dream of school level computer education. I come from small town
in karnataka shimoga there also many schools for blind do not have
proper computer technology, neither school authorities nor government
is interested to introduce computer in schools, the only thing is to
depend on scribes and forgery will continue nobody can stop.

[AI] Help regarding finding out any RP related genetic disorder in the expected child

2022-08-29 Thread Alvesh
Dear list members,
I have been diagnosed with RP and currently I have near about 40% of
sight remaining. I am married to a a girl who has no kind of
disability. On the recommendation of one of my friends, before 2 years
I also got myself tested for genetic disorder in Dr. LV Prasad eye
institute Hyderabad. At that time they only told me which genes are
affected in your body, but they were unsure about any disorder in my
children after my marriage.
Now my wife is expecting a child and she is in first trimester of
pregnancy. Now i wanted to make it sure whether the child is affected
with any RP related disorder? How to proceed with it? Should I again
visit Dr. LV Prasad Hyderabad and get my wife tested to find out any
genetic disorder in the expected child? Or should i get simply
discuss this issue with out gynecologist? Any help is appretiated.
