[AI] Help regarding finding out any RP related genetic disorder in the expected child

2022-08-29 Thread Alvesh
Dear list members,
I have been diagnosed with RP and currently I have near about 40% of
sight remaining. I am married to a a girl who has no kind of
disability. On the recommendation of one of my friends, before 2 years
I also got myself tested for genetic disorder in Dr. LV Prasad eye
institute Hyderabad. At that time they only told me which genes are
affected in your body, but they were unsure about any disorder in my
children after my marriage.
Now my wife is expecting a child and she is in first trimester of
pregnancy. Now i wanted to make it sure whether the child is affected
with any RP related disorder? How to proceed with it? Should I again
visit Dr. LV Prasad Hyderabad and get my wife tested to find out any
genetic disorder in the expected child? Or should i get simply
discuss this issue with out gynecologist? Any help is appretiated.

2019-02-21 Thread Alvesh Shokeen
Thanks for your support friends. But indeed this is a difficult time
for me. I am unable to accept this condition. I haven't married so far
just because of the reason that later in my life, what if my partner
leaves me alone? I am unable to share my condition with my parants as
wel as they will be completely disappointed listening that I will be
blind in near future.
I am always fantasising about driving bike, going out in the market
with my friends , but all of sudden I realise, I am no more in that
well condition to do these all things at my own. I will have to remain
dependent upon others even for crossing the road, so what else can I
do now?
You are right, I should have such friends who have gone through
similar experiences. Let me talk to the people. If possible, suggest
me a good disability councellor to help me to change my approach. I
am really in trouble.

Erlier I was able to see the world from my eyes, but now everything is

I feel lonely. I don't enjoy anything now. As I am most of the time

2018-04-11 Thread Alvesh Shokeen
Smart card is a card which can be used on IRCTC website for booking
the tickets. But the people who are in charge of making the card
smart, are not smart at all! My friend told me that they take ages to
make smart card, they are not helpful and they will tell you lods of
procedural things to comply with before you dream to have smart card
and book ticket smartly! So this whole process of becoming smart
passes through various stupid hurdles!

Re: [AI] Disclosing or not disclosing the visual impairment

2018-04-07 Thread Alvesh Shokeen
Some time there are benefits of not disclosing the disability, and
behaving as you were a sighted guy. For example, no one can cheat us
if he is not getting the clue that I am a vision impaired guy, and
people will not ask unnecessary questions!
As I have faced some aukward situations, asking for help people asked
me uncumfirtable questions, like your eyes are looking quite ok, are
you telling lie? How much can you see, can you identify which colour
shirt I am wearing? can you see the girls coming and going? Therefore
I deliberetly avoid to disclose my disability to avoid these
unwelcomed and aukward situations. But I can say, I am losing more by
hiding my disability, as people don't get the clue what kind of help I
require? And people think I am avoiding them by not greeding them with
hi and goodmorning etc. The other embarrassing situation I face at the
time of shaking the hands meeting someone. As sometime I can not
figure out that he has raised his hand to shake?
And also I am not visually impaired for long, I have a hard time to
distinguish the people by their voice. By the way, guide me for
getting good counseling material to learn with my disability.

[AI] Disclosing or not disclosing the visual impairment

2018-04-06 Thread Alvesh Shokeen
Hey list members, I am a partially blind person, I can manage most of
the chores at my own. People don't get easily that I am visually
impaired person. But this is true that I hide my disability, for
instance, on the dining table I pretent that I don't like sweets in
order to avoid the embarrassment of asking where is the sweet kept on
the table. I avoid social functions just to make sure that no one is
knowing the magnitude of my vision condition. I am unable to become
very social, thinking that people will not like me on the account of
my disability.
In order to hide my disability, I have to secrify a lot! I hide my
disability just because of the matter of the fact that in my society
disabled people are looked with pity, and no one will respect me and
my parants after knowing that I am disabled person. Though I am
central government employee, still people will doubt on my ability and
education, they will say that he got the job under quota reserved for
handicapped persons. Therefore till now, I am hiding my disability
wherever possible.
Kindly suggest me how to live a good life with the disability with
full confidence. . I always think that why it happened to me, while
whole world is enjoying with their sight. When I think of future
married life, I am clueless that how will I manage children and all,
their education and then their marriage etc. I feel life is useless
with out sight.
Kindly help me in coming out from this liquidating attitude.

[AI] Want to know visually impaired friendly hotels in Delhi

2018-03-28 Thread Alvesh Shokeen
Hello members, I usually visit Delhi for official and nonofficial
visits. I want to know is there any visually impaired friendly hotel
preferably in South and Centrel Delhi? I am looking hotels accessible
in terms of locating the hotel and its distance from metro station.
Hope you will assist me in finding a good hotel for time to time stay.

Re: [AI] Serious advice needed on the issue of marriage with a sighted girl

2018-03-19 Thread Alvesh Shokeen
Preeti mam, I will call you.
Vamshi, I have consulted several retina experts, and they told me that
your RP is of slow progression, and during last 5 years hardly there
is a noticeable markdown in my eyesight. However I have clearly told
the girl that I may be completely blind in future, she is even
perfectly fine with that. As she says she loves me a lot and she is
ready to face any situation.
Harish, actually she is aware of my family tradition and choices, she
is completely with me, even she has talked to her parants several
times about me but her parants are blackmailing her emotionally. I
know I can manage everything well after the marriage if I decide to
marry her despite of several oppositions. But the thing which is
driving me crazy, is that what if her parants will be hurting me
targetting on my visual impairment? As after the marriage I will have
to attend several social functions, will have to go to my inlaws
house, then they may make me felt embarrased by treating me not like
a physically perfect person. And always they will be undervaluing me
just because of my disability. Therefore now the question is that
should I go further or simply should I take the excuse that unless her
family accepts me, I will not marry her.
Nautial, my parants are not saying any thing here, they are nuteral,
as they know that girl has to live with me not her parants, but again
in our culture, marriage is not only between two adults but between
two families as wel.

[AI] Serious advice needed on the issue of marriage with a sighted girl

2018-03-19 Thread Alvesh Shokeen
Hi friends and seniors, I am 30 years old, well educated and central
government employee. I have some serious issue with my eyesight, as
the doctors say that I have Retinitis Pigmentosa, which is stable and
I have fair eyesight to manage my all day to day chores except reading
writing and driving. People generally don't recognize me easily that I
am having problem of eyesight.
Before few months I was introduced to a girls family with a view of
marriage, the girl was also there. The girls family liked me looking
my job and higher education, as I am well settled in my life.
Thereafter I started chatting with that girl, she also started liking
me and we started talking on phone for longer hours. I clearly told
that girl that I have serious issue with my eyesight, and I can see
little, and I prefer to take someone with me if I go out to unknown
places or while traveling. She looked perfectly fine with that, she
told me that she will be with me in any case. Then second time her
family came to meet me formally and I told her father about my
eyesight issue, he also looked quite normal with that, and he said
that physical problem may hit anyone so we are ok with it. Thereafter
we met in a function again. Everything was going normal. But nothing
sort of engagement etc was done as my family was not ready to fix the
marriage so erly.
In between few of my relatives told the mother of the girl that this
boy has very serious issue with his eyesight, as he can not go outside
alone, and he can not walk in sunlight and he can not do his work
independently. After listening this all (which is not true) her mother
created lots of drama, and convinced the father of girl that they will
not marry their daughter to me.
Now present situation is that the girl is in full favour of me, she is
trying her best to convince her parants that she has no issue with
eyesight problem of the boy. But her mother is torturing her and
blackmailing her emotionally saying that you will always be in pain if
you will not be obedient to your mother.
So dear friends, kindly suggest me what should I do here, should I
talk to her parants and try to remove their doubts about the situation
which they have visualized in their minds on the account of my poor
eyesight? Because they are saying only thing that how will he manage
if he has poor eyesight. Should I try to save my relationship with
that girl who is supporting me despite of my visual impairment? Will I
be losing an understanding and supporting life partner if I let this
relationship go? Or will it emotionally hurt me back as the family of
the girl will target me after the marriage due to my eyes problem..
Please suggest me what should I do, as I am in difficult situation.

[AI] Unable to find my place in city bank credit card application form

2018-03-18 Thread Alvesh Shokeen
Hi listers, I am wanting to apply city bank credit card through their
website. Filling all detail when I am coming to my residencial address
and office address, I can only see few big cities in drop down menues,
and I am unable to find my current city there. Even there is no other
option where I could write my place manually. Does it mean city bank
credit card is available only in few cities?
Presently I am residing in Agra.
