Swavlamban Health Insurance Scheme To begin with, what is Swavlamban health insurance scheme? This prestigious health insurance scheme was initiated on 2nd October 2016 solely for Persons with Disabilities (PwD). It was launched under the power of New India Assurance Company limited with the association with Ministry of Social Justice and Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. The Mission of Swavlamban Health Insurance Scheme: To provide with low cost and affordable health insurance to people with Low Vision, Blindness, Leprosy-Cured, Loco-Motor Disability, Hearing Impairment, Mental illness and Mental retardation. To improve the quality of life for PwD. To improve general health conditions for PwD. Key Features of Swavlamban Health Insurance Scheme: The steady premium of INR 357/- for every PwD living across the country. (10% of actual premium plus Service Tax) Sum cover of 2 lacs on the family floater for 12 months. Family size up to 1+3, primary member is mostly the person with PwD but in the case of minor being, PwD the parent/guardian of the minor can also be covered under the scheme. Age band covered under Swavlamban Health Insurance Scheme is 0-65 years. To get enrolled in Swavlamban Health Insurance Scheme the PwD need to carry the PwD certificate issued by PwD Act, 1995. Claim Process: New India Assurance creates a network of hospitals, where the insured person can get the cashless treatment. If in any case, the insurance PwD wishes to take the treatment outside the network hospitals he/she needs the permission from TPA. However, these permissions are not necessary when the case is of emergency hospitalization. The policy takes full responsibility of the patient’s pre-existing illness. If in any case, the insured PwD wishes to take the treatment outside the network hospitals he/she needs the permission from TPA. At the time of claim, the PwD needs to provide the PwD certificate to the TPA issued under the Persons with Disability Act, 1995. Redressal process: If the insured person is having any kind of grievance over any service aspect, he/she can approach a nominated person of New India Agency. Hey folks, This mail is regarding saksham swasthya policy recently launched by oriental insurance company limited as mentioned by one of members of this list , i would like to draw attention of seniors who are in direct contact with policy makers and ministry deligates that although the product has been launched but annual premium starts from rupees 41000 that is only forty one thousand approx for a person having 40 percent or more disability for a mere sum insured of 4 lakhs and age below 20 years, and the premium just goes further upwards as the age increases. Keeping in mind that lives of HIV patients and cancer patients have been kept in the same premium table the premium is too much . I would like to draw the attention as the difference from a normal life for the same age and same sum insured is more than thirty five thousand rupees. I would like to know from members of this list that is it justified to keep persons with benchmark disability in the same premium table as the patients with HIV or cancer as the health risk is exponentially higher for these patients in compairsion with a person with blindness or any other disability. This is an urgent and a very important matter to be looked upon with utmost urgency as recently only IRDAI that is insurance regulator has laid up guidelines for formation of this product and the companies are in this process of launching of special products for health insurance for persons with disability including HIV and cancer patients which started with the launch of saksham swasthya policy by oriental insurance company . It is my humble request to the members who were advocating this matter with the regulator and ministry to kindly look ahead for the implications on the disabled community as the product is totally irrelevant and unjustified. Rather my suggestion is not to keep HIV and cancer patients with persons with disability and introduce a seprate product for persons with benchmark disability or even we can give direct health cover as we use to give earlier with no loading and at par with other lives . Hoping for an active participation and valueable comments on this matter in this list. Hey folks, This mail is regarding health insurance for 100 percent visually impaired seeking for health coverage. I am working presently in united india insurance company limited and have recently provided with health cover to blind individuals and families as well. I would also like to suggest a very exclusive product by the new india insurance company limited specially designed for persons with benchmark disability which one can avail for subsidised premium but the only catch is a capping on your annual income as it is designed for economically weaker sections. If anyone wants to cover himself/herself with united india insurance company limited surely i can help. heartiest congratulations to ajay minocha on successfully completing CFA but it is my duty to make this list aware that he is not the youngest blind and not the first blind person to achieve this charter certification. My friendworking in securities and exchange board of india has already completed CFA at an early age of only 24 and way back in 2015 . Due to certain reasons i cannot disclose his name but many of you might know him and i am very sure ajay minocha knows him very well. So i request ajay to look into this matter with a wise heart and and i would suggest list please be aware of these attention catching headlines by certain news agencies and stay healthy Cheers Avee Gupta Search for old postings at: http://www.mail-archive.com/accessindia@accessindia.org.in/ To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe. [AI] SBI ATM throwing transaction error while withdrawing with speech assistance
Hi all, Hope all are fine . Since last week state bank of india ATM'S are throwing transaction error when i withdraw cash through there machines with help of there in built speech assistance . Speech assistance is working fine in all menus but after following all steps for cash withdrawal finally in the end no cash comes out and a verbal message of transaction error is reported. I tried withdrawing money with help of sighted assistance and didnt face any issue as the machine is working absolutely fine for sighted persons. I tried about 4 SBI ATM's in our locality all facing same issue for blind and working good for sighted so please anyone tell is there any software issue with the speech assistance in bankATM or due to the upgradation of there ATM machines i am facing this issue, as earlier we have to insert the card in the slot and remove but now the card gets locked in the given slot in the new ATM machines deployed about 15 days back in our city. All people working in state bank would be of great help in this regard. This inaccessibility issue should be immediately escalated to the management . Re: [AI] SBI clerical: blind stuck between general and VI cut off
Dear friends , I am also thinking on this since a long time as the cutoff's are multifolding in past couple of years it's now high time to review the existing scribe policy for online exams. My view on this is as follows No scribe for online exams. Screen reading softwares like NVDA should be provided and exam centres should be made accordingly accessible As NVDA is actually for no cost the exam body will have to pay a little for buying some speech synthesizers like elequence and other languages like hindi, marathi etc. Dependence on scribe will be fore gone and actual talent will be short listed . Some people may argue that a visually impaired who is not computer literate will be left out , but i think in industries like banking and insurance there is no place for a computer illiterate employee. So called activists in disability field might be offended with this mail but still i want to put up my thoughts. I know i am sounding really harsh but it's actually true . It's time to review policy only for online exams like banking and finance industry so that actual talent comes and really works in the industry . Re: [AI] Scribe guidelines urgent
I agree with the opinion of not imposing any restrictions on scribe guidelines but as far as my knowledge the cut of's of various examinations like IBPS and SBI officer as well as clerical have multi folded in these 4 years . Since 2014 the cut off has almost doubled instead of the rise in level of several examinations due to mal practices of several candidates in exams with the help of scribes. The latest recruitment for SBI- probationary officer saw a path breaking cut off for visually impaired having difference of only about 2 marks with general category . I think now it is a very alarming situation and we should strive forward for use of technology in exams for visually impaired so that we can give freely our exams without help of any individual and I can assure that the cut off's will definitely go down and only deserving candidates with sound knowledge of screen reading softwares like jaws and nvda be selected for such posts. my opinion rests with use of screen reading softwares in exam centres rather than use of scribes which are very much difficult to be invigilated at the exam centres and now with the advent of new technology each and every visually impaired must be aquinted with the knowledge of screen reading softwares for there day to day work in their offices and the exam if conducted with the help of screen reading softwares will definitely be helpful to recruit only deserving candidates with satisfactory knowledge of screen reading softwares. thanks and regards Avee Gupta UIICL The list has now migrated to www.accessindia.inclusivehabitat.in You should now post to the id: a...@accessindia.inclusivehabitat.in Search for old postings at: http://www.mail-archive.com/accessindia@accessindia.org.in/ To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe.
