Those who are representing the disabled in various court cases are requested
not to accept this as a closure. The government must be asked to give a
clear timeline to replace the current currency notes with new notes having
substancial differences in size and colour. Nothing less than that will work

With due respect to the Govt./RBI, this is certainly a very short term
solution for the blind elite.

This is no solution for the majority. Besides, I am wondering how this app
would work when we are in a queue in a super market, railway station where

Hi all
please start using the app and keep sending your feedback. The
loopholes may be taken care of in future while bringing more updates
in the App. The Central Bank is trying its level best to mitigate the
difficulty faced by blind users while identifying the Rs currency post
demonitisation in the country. The Bank had already informed the
Bombay High Court that given the huge country-size and note
circulation its not possible to change the size and shape of the Rs
denominations so frequently. Court had also maintained that blind
people are able to better recognising objects through touch. Lets hope
in the long run touch and feel factor may be considered while altering
size and shape.
Note: above views are my personal.

 Rajesh,
Photography is different and we wont start a fight at the
beginning of the year. You don’t have to be accurate and I can
 explain this.
For notes I will need practise. I am also waiting for others to
 comment.
I am sure we will have to give a feedback in court so lets be

2020-01-02 Thread Prashant Ranjan Verma
Those who are representing the disabled in various court cases are requested
not to accept this as a closure. The government must be asked to give a clear
timeline to replace the current currency notes with new notes having
substancial differences in size and colour. Nothing less than that will work
for all.

With due respect to the Govt./RBI, this is certainly a very short term solution
for the blind elite.

This is no solution for the majority. Besides, I am wondering how this app
would work when we are in a queue in a super market, railway station where
people are in a hurry and the noise levels are high.

For whatever it is worth, thanks RBI!

I think it's a good initiative but it's not proper solution until we will
get physical solution because most of the visually impaired people belongs
to poor family and every visually impaired person can't afford smart phone
and technology is a beautiful weapon for us but it can't be replace natural
things

The app seems a good short term solution..
I am able to identify currency notes.
However, in the long run, we have to demand notes of differing sizes.
Though while using the app, one would become faster with practice, I
can't fathom using it while paying the Autowala or at a crowded shop
counter.

Hello friends,
I had downloaded the application from the App Store and had checked with a
different denomination notes. It’s working decently fine, except needs
more practice to keep the notes correctly forecast in front of the rare
camera. Also for me once it said Rs.50 note when I had placed a Rs.500
note.
Hence it requires a few more trials with different denomination notes,
both knew as well as Old notes.
Also in my iPhone, the iPhone gets heated up quite fast while using the
app. It seems it is using the battery power very much.

Warm regards,

practice to keep the notes correctly forecast in front of the rare camera. Also
for me once it said Rs.50 note when I had placed a Rs.500 note.
Hence it requires a few more trials with different denomination notes, both
knew as well as Old notes.
Also in my iPhone, the iPhone gets heated up quite fast while using the app. It
seems it is using the battery power very much.

Warm regards,

Rajesh,
Photography is different and we wont start a fight at the beginning of the

For notes I will need practise. I am also waiting for others to comment.
I am sure we will have to give a feedback in court so lets be serious about

2020-01-01 Thread Asudani, Rajesh
So, now RBI wants totally blind to properly focus camera.

Blind can photograph, na.

They even have had exhibitions, I am given to know.

Now, it will be easy to demonstrate in the marketplace how blind use assistive

Hi I have been able to download it on I phone.
Most of the notes were clearly recognised.
It read Rs. 2000 correctly but sometimes it read it as Rs. 20. Maybe I didn’t
position it properly.
We will have to learn and of course be careful.
I would not say it is the best but maybe it will work.
Others please comment.

Re: [AI] Anup Roy reports for business standard today: RBI comes up with mobile app 'mani' to help visually impaired identify notes

2020-01-01 Thread Kanchan Pamnani
Hi I have been able to download it on I phone.
Most of the notes were clearly recognised.
It read Rs. 2000 correctly but sometimes it read it as Rs. 20. Maybe I didn’t
position it properly.
We will have to learn and of course be careful.
I would not say it is the best but maybe it will work.
Others please comment.

[AI] Anup Roy reports for business standard today: RBI comes up with mobile app 'mani' to help visually impaired identify notes

2020-01-01 Thread avinash shahi
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Wednesday launched a mobile
application for the visually impaired to identify the denomination of
Indian currencies. The application, named MANI
https://www.business-standard.com/article/finance/rbi-comes-up-with-mobile-app-to-help-visually-impaired-identify-notes-120010200031_1.html
(Mobile Aided Note Identifier), scans through intaglio printing and
tactile mark, variable banknote size, large numerals, variable colour,
monochromatic hues and patterns, to ascertain the value of the
banknote.

The free app doesn’t need Internet connection and can identify Mahatma
Gandhi series of notes, both old and new, included in half folded
conditions. An audio notification can be activated, or vibration mode
can be accessed by the vision and hearing challenged people.
