Refund takes about six or seven months if you file your return within due date. It is handled serially in terms of date. The earlier a return is file, the earlier the case is settled. Rent slip for any duration should be accepted. The toll-free number for e-filing is 180042500025 and for refund claim is 18004252229. The employer is supposed to allow it. I don't know how the employer can be forced to do it. Anyway, for this year you can claim it at the time of filing return. You will get the refund. Meanwhile, you may contact the help desk of income tax to enquire if there is any provision in this matter.
