[AI] Self Appraisal Report and Other Issues
Hello Friends Have a nice day to all of you. Once again, I would like to divert your kind attention towards the "Self Appraisal Report" used in the banking sector for the internal promotion of their employee in various cadre. This issue is here on 2nd time but this is more sensitive, right forum to raised the issue and need to be discuss here As all of you know, our government has released new guidelines about the Self Appraisal Report for all cadres to get promotion. According the new guidelines, one has to gain 60% marks in the first year and 75% in 2 consecutive years, which is really hard, especially for a visually impaired employee. As we all know, we have given a reservation in jobs only because without the vision, we are not able to perform like a normal employee so in my opinion, we should have given some relaxation in marks or there should be some other criteria to be adopted for the internal promotion. on the other hand, ST/SC/OBC candidates has given a reservation in internal promotion, they also get pre-promotion training before any promotion exam but there's no such reservation policy/Pre-Promotion training for the disabled in promotion process. This is really an embarrassing situation for the disabled, especially for the visually impaired persons to get promotion because nobody will give them 75% marks only on sympathetic ground because they can't perform like a normal person in respect of blindness. This is equally true that no employee union is with us, so we have to fight the battle alone only. Friends, this is really alarming situation now! we have to come forward to resolve the issue soon, otherwise, most of us will not be able to get promotion even many of us are performing much better than anyone in your field. I would like to appeal to all of you here that we should have also work to form an All India bank employee union for disabled persons to raise their issues with the management effectively I need your valuable suggestion over the issue so that we can take an appropriate move on this serious issue, which is equally important for all of us. Hi, State Bank is collaberating with EnAble India for the training in their process for the visually impaired and hearing impaired employees, and they are trying to make findout the suitable works in banking sector where vision is not required or can be substituted with assistive aids. I think it is one of the good decisions by State Bank of India. Particularly in banking No reporting officer is ready to give very good marks due to his or her mind set against blind despites of performing excellently. When a top level DGM said in a inter view we are providing you a job for livelihood not enjoyment. most of the people have no work in their banks either in clerical or officer cadre. On the other hand, the approach of the management is also very negative about disabled so something should be done soon to improve the situation. this is equally true that in the early stages, most of the blind persons got their jobs as an stenographer but now, a days, they don't have any work for them in the bank. It is difficult because persons with disability are not allotted any work at all. when work has not been allotted, where comes performance. recently a friend of mine said that her manager has termed disabled employees as NPAs of banks. Dear Sri It is difficult, as it is true that most of the blind bankers are finding that it is very difficult to perform any kind of work in Indian banking sector due to a host of factors. the bottom line is that there is no set up to work non visually.. The situation is crucial and something urgently needs to be done about it. Hi Nautial, Thanks for raising the important/crucial issue pertaining to our community. What you are informed may be true in some extent. It won’t apply to all visually impaired persons. Many of visually impaired persons are productive in bank due to computer & other assistive technology. In my own case, last year I got 75 marks compare to our cited counterparts. Due to this, few of my colleagues got jealous on me because they got 40 to 50 marks. Now our department got new Chief Manager who is not much cooperative. I personally feel they should give some relaxation in marks for all Persons With Disabilities during promotion. On 5/18/12, B. R.
