Hi Nirmal

I am interested in playing chess.

Before when I had better eyesight I used to play
on a normal chess board but now I am facing a

So I have a few questions regarding chess.

1. For playing chess we must observe all pieces
at the same time to visualise the next moves and
to play a good game which is not possible by
touching the pieces one by one. Also it is
difficult to memorize the position of all pieces every time after few moves

2. Many times a piece might fall down when we
touch which could hamper the game. So does the
chess board you are providing resolve this issue?

3. Do you know any app where visually impaired
people can play chess using voiceover or NVDA?

If you have suggestions regarding any of the

Dear Ruhin

Late blind persons have their own set of challenges. I believe that
children whom i have seen playing do remember the previous moves and
positions. (In some competitions long back I had found sighted participant
cheating blind opponents and got suspended from competition.)
Also you can write the moves while playing. I think more practice with
the board will enable you to remember the positions.
All the chess boards that are available in market for blind have the
quality to hold the pieces tight. Materials used could be cheaper or
costly.

2021-07-26 Thread Ruhin Bhattasali
Hi Nirmal

I am interested in playing chess.
Before when I had better eyesight I used to play on a normal chess board
but now I am facing a few problems while playing by touching pieces. So I
have a few questions regarding chess.
1. For playing chess we must observe all pieces at the same time to
visualise the next moves and to play a good game which is not possible by
touching the pieces one by one. Also it is difficult to memorize the
position of all pieces every time after few moves
2. Many times a piece might fall down when we touch which could hamper the
game. So does the chess board you are providing resolve this issue?
3. Do you know any app where visually impaired people can play chess using
voiceover or NVDA?
If you have suggestions regarding any of the above mentioned problems
please reply.
Thank you
Ruhin

Re: [AI] what Board games would you like to play

2021-07-24 Thread Nirmal Verma
Dear Rahul

Here goes the process:

1. went through the list of hundreds of board games and tried to find which
games are not available and which all games are in demand.

2. saw their designs . (zeroed in on those which I could make, knowing my
level of knowledge about woodwork).

3. bought power tools and different kinds of boards.

4. did experiments with several boards, wooden and artificial

5. In the board games I carved out the lines so that a child can feel the
design and know where her coins can move. but the process was not easy.
working with the materials, size, transportation, tools limitations etc.

6. then played on those boards and went again to my tools and workstation
to perfect the design.

every board and game has its own challenges while manufacturing.

regards

NIrmal

Hi Nirmal

Is there any manual or some details how these games are played. Probably
you can share them to elicit more interest.

Some audio described video would be of course better.
