Re: [AI] RCom launches braille bill service
I wholeheartedly welcome this service. I heartily hope that this initiatory step would compel other companies to tailor their schemes according to visually impaired. Though Reliance service is at best a ridiculous one, yet I am disposed to go for it because it would promote accessibility for which we often raise a hue and cry. I am sorry to say that the comments of our friends over this initiative were quite ironical. We ought to welcome each and every accessibility-promoting measure. Re: [AI] RCom launches braille bill service
Hi friends, I am constrained to make comments on this issue as some of us are very limited in their outlook. We conveniently forget that majority of us do not use English let alone computers. Also, I would say that if even a small minority of people prefer Braille they should get it as we are nobody to decide for anyone. Further, let us encourage literacy by whichever way it comes. - Original Message - From: "Mukesh Sharma" To: Sent: Tuesday, August 17, 2010 2:01 PM Subject: Re: [AI] RCom launches braille bill service Though I agree to ask for our rights and utilize the services, on the other hand people and companies are shifting with encouragement to eBill to save paper. Re: [AI] RCom launches Braille bill service
Hi Ashwani and others, No doubt, I do welcome the initiatives taken by different companies but we yet need to sensitize a lot to the companies and help them to come up with right innovations and not doing something just for the sake of doing it. For instance, let's talk about proposed ATM solution by SBI - I think, the intention is correct but not the concept. While I certainly appreciate RCom initiative of bills in Braille and it's a correct decision since not all the VI people uses email or internet but this would certainly benefit them. I agree that eBill is more accessible for you and me, but is it accessible for all? What about those who don’t use computer that much, or those, who don’t know it at all? eBill should be one of the options, but until they are still producing paper bills, I will advocate a strong need of producing Braille bills if possible.
