Hello

Outlook express is allocated some space onto hard disk, either you can
increase space or store your old messages in some folder , you have to
backup your messages to avoid any chance of loosing any data . Auto
archive, compacting of messages is required when dealing with volumes.

Cheers,

Pankaj

Re: [AI] problem in outlook express

2010-06-03 Thread Amiyo Biswas

Hello,

I save many messages in different folders inside outlook express. Compacting
does not delete these messages. You may arrange your messages in that way.

Best regards,

Re: [AI] problem in outlook express

2010-06-03 Thread sachit sahrawat
Dear Raghu!

There is one remedy for this problem I am using this technique ever
since I have started using outlook express. When you think that a
mail is important and it is worth saving, go to file menu, select
save as, and give it any path to your hard drive in any folder. You
can choose a different name for the mail and this mail will be saved
in 'eml' format. So many people will be using this and according to
me, this is the best way to preserve your messages. I accept hthat it
will take some time, but later on, you will find it more safer .

Dear Access Indians,

Recently I got my PC reformatted. But now there is a problem with my
outlook express. I always go to the maintenance tab in the option submenu
in the tools menu of the outlook express and change the path of my outlook
express. Therefore all the folders of the outlook express are stored in
the F Drive. After formatting the PC, I always get my folders in tact
after changing the path. But this time, it does not show many of my
folders. It shows only two of my manually created folders, apart from the
auto generated folders. They are not hidden, I am sure. Then, why does it
not show them? The folders were important. How can I retrieve them in the
outlook express? They are there in the F drive, but not in the lists of
folders in the outlook express. As a result, I can not open and read them.

I seek your guidance.
Thanking you in anticipation.

 Dear friend Abdul,

I am pasting below the steps for configuring Yahoo.co.in accounts in
 Outlook
Express. These instructions have been taken from the website referred to
 by
 Mamta in her mail.

Configuring Yahoo! Mail in Outlook Express

 1. go to tools menu and then in Accounts in outlook express.

 2. If u r not in the mail tab, press control tab till u reach it.

 3. press tab to reach add button and press space to select..

 4. select mail from the 3 items and press enter.

 5. A internet connection wizard will open up. in the first step it will
 ask
your display name as u want it to appear to others when they receive your
 mail.

 6. in the second screen it asks your full email address.

 7. in third screen, give the incoming server as pop.mail.yahoo.com and the
 outgoing server name as smtp.mail.yahoo.com.

 8. in the 4th step, it asks your account name which is already there
written in the edit box. you need not change it. press tab and it asks for
password. press tab and it reaches a check box where if u check it u do
 not
need to type your password every time when u download mails.

 9. in the next and final screen just press the finish button.

 10. You again need to go to the properties of your account. for this press
Alt P or tab till u reach the properties button and press it.

 11. press control tab to reach the servers page. here press tab till u
 reach
a check box which says my server requires authentication. press space to
check this check box. this is required to enable u to send emails from
outlook express. press enter to do ok. tab to reach the close button and
 press enter.

In case you are using Yahoo.com account, you will need an additional
software called Yahoo POPs since direct configuration of free Yahoo.com
accounts into Outlook Express is not possible.

2008-04-05 Thread Vikas Kapoor
Remember, yahoo.com can't be configured in outlook express without having to
install the third party application which is yahoo pops and that too in my
case has not been working for quite some time. On the contrary if you are
using Mozilla Thunderbird, then you can configure yahoo.com by installing an
extra extension for that. Otherwise yahoo.co.in can certainly be configured
in OE without having to install any extra client.

 Hello sir,
Are you putting the Quotation marks in front of the server name?
if yes please do not do that.
Alternatively are all other settings correct? did you varify?
is pop 3 selected in the above field?
For checking the settings of your yahoo mail/getting the instructions for
configurring yahoo mail you can also visit:

 http://www.ashishrohtagi.org

on the tips and tricks page you will find this solution.
and also you may also want to try this.
 insted of pop.mail.yahoo.comyou can type:

 pop.mail.yahoo.co.in

This may help.. in some cases this has helped as well.
Hope that one of the above solutions works for you sir.
 Many thanks

Dear Sir,

Of course, this problem occurred for the first time I logged in OE at my new
office, where I have been transferred to. There is no antivirus in my office

settings, which is quite similar to my residence PC settings.

Waiting for your valuable guidance.

 Hi anubha,
If the mails have been deleted permanently, you cannot get them back.
But if the mails have been deleted from inbox they mostly go to deleted
 items.
If you know which mail it is, then go to the folder deleted items, if I
 guess.
Stay on the mail which ever it may be, example:
Access India, welcome to Access India
Press alt+e then press m and choose the folder you want to move the mail
 and
 then press enter.
 Hope this helps,
 With regards
 Samuel

2008-03-05 Thread Amiyo Biswas
When you delete an individual mail, it goes to the Deleted Items folder. If
you delete a mail folder, the entire folder will go to the Deleted Items
folder. In that case when you navigate among the folders, jaws will say
Deleted Items closed. You can restore the deleted folder if something like
this has happened to you.

Best regards,

Amiyo.

find security tab. uncheck the checkbox which says, do not allow attachments

  Hello!

  do the following:

go to the outlook express's ToollsMenu/options and then, press
 ControlTab,
  untill you reach the securityTab.

now, press the tab key, twice or thrice to reach: do not allow
  attachments... checkbox checked.

uncheck the checkbox, then, first, press the apply and then the OK
 button.

in this way, you will permit the future attachments to be downloaded to
  your
  computer.

  regards,
  Keshav.

  hi,
I've done that already but with no success.
I'm sure something is wrong somewhere...mere running the config file
  doesn't
automatically solve the problem, or if I may say, configure the gmail in
  OE...
I think what aruni has suggested in last couple of mail is most likely
  to
work. those are important for configuration.

I'm going to try that out...hopefully with success.

yes. It is something called gmail config tool and will in all probability
reduce the complex procedures of configuring GMail with outlook. only be
sure to remove all accounts that you have so far created, I mean those GMail
accounts which you have created and are not working. only having removed
them, run the program.

Good luck

2006-08-04 Thread anjalee arora
hi,
I've done that already but with no success.
I'm sure something is wrong somewhere...mere running the config file doesn't
automatically solve the problem, or if I may say, configure the gmail in
OE...
I think what aruni has suggested in last couple of mail is most likely to
work. those are important for configuration.

I'm going to try that out...hopefully with success.

 Dear accessindia member
I have a one exe file, if you run this file configures your gmail account
to outlook express and Microsoft outlook.

Again there are two different items under the server tab of the accounts
properties. 1. log on using secured password authentication which
should be unchecked. and 2. my server requires authentication which
 should be checked.

 Aruni.

2006-08-03 Thread Vikas Kapoor
did you ever enabled your pop accessibility for your gmail account on the
gmail site itself? If not, you need to do that first, if it is there, then
it appears that your server is not supporting the secure password, is that a
temporary problem or you have never received any mail from this account?
will research on it and get back to you if found something relevant.

 should go.

Looking at the error you pasted, it appears that you've entered the
 server
name wrong, while your error shows it is gmail.com, whereas in the case
 of
incoming, it should be pop.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com in the case of
 outgoing.

 Hi Yogesh,

I think, the port should be 465 for your Gmail account. Check it
 out
 in
the advance tab of the properties of your pop.gmail.com account.

2006-08-03 Thread Aruni Arsh
Again there are two different items under the server tab of the accounts
properties. 1. log on using secured password authentication which
should be unchecked. and 2. my server requires authentication which
should be checked.
Regards,
Aruni.
Vikas Kapoor wrote:
If you are talking about the secure password authentication, it is in the
server tab and that is only applicable for the outgoing messages and not for
incoming. The error that is there in the first original query is related to
receiving the mails I guess, at least looks like having seen the error that
 was pasted.

secure password authentication and SSL are two different things
altogether. It is the second option that has to be selected and not the
 first.
