RE: [ActiveDir] Recreate BUILTIN\Incoming Forest Trust Builders

2006-08-17 Thread Han Valk
First forgive my ignorance, I didn't that the group should only exist in the
forest root domain. But how is it possible that CHILDDOMAIN\Incoming Forest
Trust Builders has permissions on the child domain in ADUC when there
shouldn't be a CHILDDOMAIN\Incoming Forest Trust Builders?

[ActiveDir] Recreate BUILTIN\Incoming Forest Trust Builders

2006-08-14 Thread Han Valk
Hi,

A smart co-worker deleted the BUILTIN\Incoming Forest Trust Builders group.
Is it possible to recreate this group with the same well known SID?
Authoritative restore is out of the question, deletetion is too long ago.

Han Valk.

RE: [ActiveDir] Exchange now supported on virtual hardware

2005-11-14 Thread Han Valk
We've performed tests with one VM (using ESX Server) with Exchange installed
on it. This VM had a blade all for itself. With this configuration we could
only host 1500 mailboxes and still have acceptable response times.
When we did the same tests on bare metal (same blade) we could host 4000
mailboxes. Vmware has a nice paper on virtualization of Exchange 2003 with
ESX Server.

Han.

RE: [ActiveDir] Exchange now supported on virtual hardware

2005-10-31 Thread Han Valk
Hi,

I have seen tests conducted with loadsim on Exchange Server 2003 running on
bare metal and on Vmware ESX Server 2003 running on the same hardware. The
conclusion was that one can host a lot more mailboxes on bare metal. There's
a white paper on Vmware's site that says not to host more than 1000 mailboxes
on a single vitualized Exchange Server 2003.

Han.

RE: [ActiveDir] Applications on 2003 DC

2004-01-08 Thread Han Valk
Hi,

Exchange 2003 will work on a DC. Just keep in mind that because of a 'bug' a
shutdown/reboot of that combination takes quite some time.

Best regards,
Han Valk.

Subject: [ActiveDir] Applications on 2003 DC

We are short on test hardware, and were wondering if the rumors were true
that one is unable to install SQL 2000 or Exchange 2003 on a DC? This isn't
a production idea, but just for test purposes so we don't have to buy a
separate box for the application.

Thank you in advance for the help.
