2021-12-08 Thread kyoo hk
Hi, there,
I use the API to get ads resources, the following statement can get data
before, but starting from a few months ago I got nothing. If needed, I can
provide logs privately.

string(219) "{

"fieldMask":
"campaign.id,campaign.name,adGroup.id,adGroup.name,adGroupCriterion.criterionId,adGroupCriterion.keyword.text,adGroupCriterion.keyword.matchType,metrics.impressions,metrics.clicks,metrics.costMicros"

}

Thanks you for your help

Multi-factor authentication, linked MCC accounts and refresh tokens

2018-09-26 Thread HK
Hello,

We are managing our customers' AdWords accounts and (most of) those
accounts are linked to our MCC. The OAuth refresh token for our MCC account
was generated ~4 years ago and the MCC is currently using "Standard"
authentication method. All is well and working fine.

Based on the "Multi-factor authentication" changes announced in
https://ads-developers.googleblog.com/2018/08/multi-factor-authentication-policy-for.html,

I'm wondering if one of our linked customer accounts enables "2-Step
Verification", *would it be sufficient for us to also enable "2-Step
Verification" for the MCC or would we have to generate another refresh
token* in order to make the API calls succeed again? (We are currently
using v201802).

(We haven't tried the above scenario yet, but on a related note, it seems
that the API error for these scenarios is
"AuthorizationError.USER_PERMISSION_DENIED" in v201802 while v201806 will
spit back a "AuthorizationError.TWO_STEP_VERIFICATION_NOT_ENROLLED" for
the CustomerService class).

Thanks!
Hans

Will Chrome's "Not Secure" July change affect ad serving?

2018-03-13 Thread HK
Hi,

This might not be the correct forum, but giving it a shot. Does anyone know
if the announced change to Chrome in July where non-https sites will be
flagged as "Not Secure", will affect ads? Wondering if we need to change
templates / ads to use https to make sure ads will still serve?

https://blog.chromium.org/2018/02/a-secure-web-is-here-to-stay.html

Re: Empty fields "AdType" and "Headline" in Ad Performance Report (v201705)

2018-02-07 Thread HK
Hi, Nadine

Thanks for getting to the bottom of this. For the record, our concern has
primarily been that our system has been without PLA impressions for 3
months which is pretty bad, especially having this occur during the busiest
time of the year. We can update our system to work with the new behavior,
the important thing is that we know this behavior will stick around and not
be reverted as it requires quite a bit of work on our side to change it.
The main reason we were using impressions from the headline row in the
report was to avoid double-counting impressions for sitelinks. Please note
that we are still seeing the headline row come back with impressions for
shopping ads for the Display Networks. We only have around 10 impressions
in 3 months for this scenario, but it makes me wonder if you missed a spot
when you converted over? Here is an example:

Please let us know when this change has been documented and whether PLAs on
the Display Network will continue to report impressions on the headline row.

Thanks,
Hans

The AdWords APIs is not just a tool we are using for fun, we have an
enterprise solution built around it and it's affecting around 30 important
customers of ours and ~20 million impressions per days. Please let us know
how we can get some traction on this now over 2 month old problem.

Thanks for all your help,
Hans

Hi, Nadina

Hate nag you about this, but is there any way to escalate this? It's a
pretty big unexplained/undocumented change that is affecting ~30 merchant

pretty big impact on a number of large accounts we manage and has been

Duplicate googleClickID for "Headline" and "Sitelink" in Click Performance Report - recent change?

2017-04-20 Thread HK
Hi,

I the last 3-4 days, we are seeing the Click Performance Report returning
rows for with duplicate googleClickID values. We are using v201609. Only
difference is the clickType in those rows. I understand this is expected
for reports dealing with impressions, but we've been running this click
report for at least a year, and never seen it return dupes like this, so we
suspect a recent (intentional?) change.

Based on the documentation
,

it seems that as the user can only click one area of the ad, only one row
(click type) should be returned. If they clicked it twice, it should have a
different googleClickID the second time:

*"The ClickType field will reflect each area of the ad that the user
clicked for each GclId. This differs from other reports, where the
ClickType shows every area of the ad that was shown to the user for each
impression."*

Example:

Can someone please let us know if this is a permanent change or a change
that will be reverted? It is affecting a good chunk of our customers.

Thanks,
Hans

We have the same issue and it will quickly become critical. We are seeing
it with reports only. Our other APIs for getting campaigns, budgets, etc.
are working fine, just not downloading reports.

Re: Items from getUserInterestCriterion for NEW_SMART_PHONE_USER return non-existent parent

2016-03-20 Thread HK
Hi, Josh

My main concern with this is that it breaks the pattern of all the other
types, such as MOBILE_APP_INSTALL_USER. The other types point to a parent
with ID 0 and that item again has a parent ID of -1 flagging that there is
none. To my knowledge, the top level items with ID 0 are not targetable
either. We use the IDs and parent IDs to build a user friendly name that
represents all the levels in the hierarchy and without the top level item,
we have to special case it. Example of name we build based on IDs and
parent IDs:

Arts & Entertainment > Music & Audio > Jazz & Blues > Jazz

No, it's not that important, but I'm not seeing why it should be different
for NEW_SMART_PHONE_USER versus the other ones. See attachment for an
example of what is returned for the other types. Using 85001 is confusing
to me, as there is nothing telling me what that represents and whether it's
the top level or not.

Thanks,
Hans

Re: Items from getUserInterestCriterion for NEW_SMART_PHONE_USER return non-existent parent

2016-03-19 Thread HK

Hi, Anthony

Don't have the SOAP right here right now, but here's the data I got back
(ignore the FeedTrackingID). Your comment is the exact problem, there is no
85001. So maybe a better question then is, to which parent does for example
85002 belong to? See attachment.

Re: How is "AppUrl.OsType" returned in Ad Performance report in v201601?

2016-03-15 Thread HK
Hi, Umesh

I don't see anything in the release notes or ad performance report
documentation stating that the os type is no longer returned. Based on the
beginning of the app URL, can I safely make an assumption about the OS
type?, so "android-app" in
["android-app://com.facebook.katana/android-app/com.my.App"] is an android
app? If so, what would be the expected value for iOS, "ios-app"? As
mentioned, the AppUrl

class still has both the URL and the os type and I would expect the report
to convey the same information.

Thanks,
Hans

Items from getUserInterestCriterion for NEW_SMART_PHONE_USER return non-existent parent

2016-03-15 Thread HK
Hi,

I'm using v201601 and calling getUserInterestCriterion
passing NEW_SMART_PHONE_USER as
the ConstantDataServiceUserInterestTaxonomyType. I get back 5 items, all
with a parent ID of 85001. However, I'm not getting back an item with the
ID of 85001. Should 85001 be included in the returned values? For the other
types the parents are returned as well.

How is "AppUrl.OsType" returned in Ad Performance report in v201601?

2016-03-15 Thread HK
Hi,

In the v201601 Ad Performance report, CreativeFinalAppUrls is now returned
as a JSON list
.

Getting this data via other calls
,

returns an array of AppUrl, containing both the url and the os type. I
don't see the os type being returned in the ad performance report. Should
it be? I tested with a "Mobile app engagement ad" (TEMPLATE_AD) which seems
to only be supported by Android, but shouldn't the os type still be
included? Here's an example of the XML I got in the report:

This is not a big deal to us, just wanted to ask for clarification for when
we need it.

Thanks,
Hans

I agree that the POG scenario is not called out, which is the reason for my
post. We don't have any customers live with POG yet, so I can't test this
myself unfortunately and need to get answer from you guys. Let me try to
simplify my question:

If I have a live POG ad, someone clicks on it, and I then run an ad
performance report. What value will show up for clickType?

The ad performace report already has specific values for online, local,
multi-channel ads, promotions, etc. I expect that it has one for POG too.
The most complete documentation I've found so far
is https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/6275309?hl=en.

Hi, Nadine

Thanks for being patient with me. This is the first ad type I've come
across that does not had a corresponding clicktype in the ad performance
report, so I was sure there had to be one. Looks like I was wrong. Have you
heard of any plans for adding this? It does surprise me that it's available

"PRODUCT_LISTING_AD_CLICKS" seems to be the predicate value for the display

on Google, which I don't see documented anywhere. See attachment.

What is the ClickType display value in the Ad Performance Report for "Purchase on Google"?

2016-02-04 Thread HK
Hi, guys

We are implementing support for tracking "Purchase on Google" (POG) clicks
and are using the {pla_with_POG}
 value track.
However, the missing piece is how POG activity will show up in
the AD_PERFORMANCE_REPORT. I would expect to find it here
,

but that list very sparse (it also doesn't include any of the local
variations such as "Product Listing Ad - Local"). Some additional click
types are documented here
, but not for POG.

Does anyone know what the display value for POG is in this report?

Thanks,
Hans

Condition, Channel and Channel Exclusivity values in PRODUCT_PARTITION_REPORT translated to campaign's "Country of sale" language

2016-01-22 Thread HK
Hi,

We just discovered that using the PRODUCT_PARTITION_REPORT (as a structure
report) instead of calling get() for AdGroupCriterionService to get product
groups, returns the condition, channel and channel exclusivity in the
language that matches the campaign's "country of sale" settings. *Is this
intentional?*

As an example for conditions, I would think it should match the enum

that the AdGroupCriterionService get call returns for the same campaign.
Otherwise we have to translate each one of the enum values for each of the
supported countries to match what AdGroupCriterionService returns. Also,
other values in the report are not translated to, in this case Polish, such
as partitionType's - "unit". and "subdivision". More importantly, in the UI
when working with product groups in the Polish campaign, it's showing
"New", "Used", etc and not the Polish equivalent the report uses. Here's an
example where "used" is translated to "używany":

productGroup='* / condition = "używany"

Here's one for "channel" for a Spanish campaign that I would expect to be
"local":

productGroup='* / condition = * / channel = "tiendas locales"'

One more for "channel exclusivity in Spanish":

productGroup='* / condition = * / channel = * / channel exclusivity = "canal
único"'

Thanks,
Hans

not, is this something that can be reverted quickly? Here is a copy of our

2016-01-21 Thread HK
I have responded privately to Yin. Note that the deleted product groups are
included in an active adgroup, so I don't think the adgroup status is
causing this. There is only one ad group in the response, we should
received 64 product groups in this ad group but we are getting 518. All the
extra ones are marked as removed.

Re: 'REMOVED' product groups now unexpectedly being returned in get call to AdGroupCriterionService (urgent)

2016-01-21 Thread HK
Hi, Anash

I really, really wish changes like these would be saved for an API update,
as it is extremely disruptive to current solutions depending on the current
API behavior (it's been this way for several years). If nothing else, at
least add a note to the forum about the upcoming change a week or so in
advance.

Yes, the fix is not difficult but it's taken us down for a full day :-(

Thanks for getting back to me with an explanation so soon though.

Is Click Performance Report ever adjusted for fraud clicks?

2015-11-20 Thread HK
Hi,

Can someone confirm whether the Click Performance Report is ever adjusted
for fraud clicks? Based on what we are seeing, for example requesting this
report two days in the past, fraud clicks don't seem to be removed while
they are in the Ad Performance Report for the same date.

Thanks,
Hans

TargetAll setting missing from "Adgroup Performance Report"

2015-11-05 Thread HK
Hi,

As recommended by Google, we are using a lot of reports as structure
reports to for example retrieve all adgroups. However, for the adgroup
performance report
,

I don't see a way to get the targetAll

setting (for now, we specifically need it for USER_INTEREST_AND_LIST). Is
this something that could be added as an attribute to the report?

Thanks,

Re: User Lists duplicate entries

2015-10-15 Thread HK
Hi, Josh

This is becoming urgent for us. We have a critical new customer facing
feature being released October 21st that is dependent on this being fixed.
Would you be able to help make that happen please? We are now two months
into this bug and we really need it addressed. I apologize for being so
vocal, but we manage hundreds of AdWords accounts, the feature is required
by RMF and we simply can't have a part of AdWords being down for this long.

For the record, I just tested it for one of our customers a minute ago, and
it's still sending up duplicate entries.

Thanks in advance for any help.

BiddingStrategyConfiguration now returning bids as null instead of empty array for Product Group subdivisions.

2015-08-13 Thread HK
Hi,

Starting last night around 7 pm PDT, we are seeing the bids object being
null instead of an empty array for subdivisions (v201502). In other words,
in a BiddableAdGroupCriterion object, bids on the
BiddingStrategyConfiguration object is now unexpectedly null. Is this a
planned change? As always, changes like these outside of an API release,
are likely to break existing API implementations as is the case for us and
a large number of clients. Here's an example output of the
BiddingStrategyConfiguration:

criterion.biddingStrategyConfiguration

{Google.AdWords.WebService.BiddingStrategyConfiguration}
biddingScheme: null
biddingSchemeField: null
biddingStrategyId: 0
biddingStrategyIdField: 0
biddingStrategyIdFieldSpecified: false
biddingStrategyIdSpecified: false
biddingStrategyName: null
biddingStrategyNameField: null
biddingStrategySource: CAMPAIGN
biddingStrategySourceField: CAMPAIGN
biddingStrategySourceFieldSpecified: false
biddingStrategySourceSpecified: false
biddingStrategyType: MANUAL_CPC
biddingStrategyTypeField: MANUAL_CPC
biddingStrategyTypeFieldSpecified: true
biddingStrategyTypeSpecified: true
bids: null
bidsField: null

(Interestingly enough, we noticed what appears to be a similar change on
Google's side earlier this week, although it may not be related at all. For
a SharedBiddingStrategy object of type TARGET_SPEND, the biddingScheme came
back as null. Not sure if these are bidding strategies that have been auto
migrated from another type. We could not repro that creating new bidding
strategies of type TARGET_SPEND).

Thanks,
Hans

Re: Problems setting FinalUrls values on keywords

2015-06-30 Thread HK
Josh,

Wanted to add some clarifications to the above. After playing with this
some more, it appears that if deleting a product partition and then
recreating it again (going from unit to subdiv), the APIs don't accept
having different custom parameters for the two, even though they don't have
the same ID as it's being brought back with id = -1. The one being deleted
had no custom params. The one being recreated (as a subdiv - mysupersku)
fails unless I set urlCustomParameters to null. I tried submitting a 0 item
array with doReplace to true and false, and also submitting one valid
custom parameter, with doReplace to true and false. This seems like an
unexpected limitation, although we can work around it.

Re: Problems setting FinalUrls values on keywords

2015-06-30 Thread HK
Hi, Josh

I'm still trouble-shooting this, but I just reproduced the error and
captured the request ID - 000519c3d3f0bd000abf2547680fa3a5. Now, while
doing this, I noticed that the request has ...

urlCustomParametersdoReplacetrue/doReplace/urlCustomParameters

Taking that out, resolves the issue for me. So it seems to be related to
custom parameters and not a URL as the error indicates. I didn't think
setting doReplace would have any effect on an ADD operation
(https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201502/AdGroupCriterionService.CustomParameters).

Giles, I don't mean to hijack your thread. It's possible my issue is not
related to yours after all.

Re: Problems setting FinalUrls values on keywords

2015-06-29 Thread HK
Guys, not sure if this will help or confuse, but we have a unit test for
Product Groups that have been working every day for at least the last six
months, but started failing 5/31 with
the CANNOT_MODIFY_URL_FIELDS_WITH_DUPLICATE_ELEMENTS error. I can provide
more details if needed, but it seems somewhat similar to what Giles is
describing. Here is the scenario:

   1. I have a leaf product group All products Everything else in 'All
products' mysupersku and want to subdivide it by category (mysupersku is
   a productofferid).
   2. We submit *one API call* (v201502) to do the following:
  1. Delete the original product partition mysupersku.
  2. Add back the same product partition (mysupersku) as a subdivision.
  (id - 1)
  3. Add a leaf product partition for BIDDING_CATEGORY_L1
  (-4844290245982195030) (id = -2, parent = -1)
  4. Add an excluded leaf product partition for BIDDING_CATEGORY_L1 for
  the everything else (id = -3, parent = -1).

The destination URL or FinalURLs fields are set to null on all objects and
were null before making this call too, so the error seems out of place to
me and based on its prior success rate, should still work.

Thanks,
Hans

Re: empty Structure Reports, such as KEYWORDS_PERFORMANCE_REPORT

2015-06-25 Thread HK
Josh,

This all looks correct. We deployed a permanent patch 6/24 around 7 pm PDT,
so that the requests now use includeZeroImpressions=true as you can see
from the last runs.

With the patch, this is no longer urgent/important for us, but there has
definitely been a change in the behavior this flag has for report requests
not including any metrics as you can see from the number of items returned
in the requests. The fact that the number of items returned (31515) every
day is identical, suggests that the data is static and not based on
performance, I would think.

Note that we were having the same issue with CRITERIA_PERFORMANCE_REPORT
and AD_PERFORMANCE_REPORT.

empty Structure Reports, such as KEYWORDS_PERFORMANCE_REPORT

2015-06-23 Thread HK
As seen temporarily on 6/16, we are again getting empty reports from
Google, for example the KEYWORDS_PERFORMANCE_REPORT. This seems to have
started yesterday again. See this
https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/community/?place=msg%2Fadwords-api%2FevSR0q5skC8%2Ft5wdfPnjwjAJ

post for details. We don't request any metric fields. We have been make the
same calls for 8 years and only seen this twice, on 6/16 and starting again
yesterday. The issue on 6/16 went away by itself without us making any
changes. It is extremely important that we get this resolved asap as we
have a big Upgraded URL migration today and tomorrow.

It'd be much appreciated if someone could take a look at this as soon as
possible.

Re: empty Structure Reports, such as KEYWORDS_PERFORMANCE_REPORT

2015-06-23 Thread HK
Hi, Josh

We are using the same columns as mentioned in the beginning of the other
post, so...

AdGroupId, Id, CampaignId, KeywordText, CriteriaDestinationUrl, Status,
CpcBid, CpmBid, KeywordMatchType, FirstPageCpc, QualityScore, IsNegative,
CpcBidSource, FinalUrls, FinalMobileUrls, FinalAppUrls,
TrackingUrlTemplate, UrlCustomParameters

with the following predicates

Status: NOT_EQUALS REMOVED
AdGroupStatus: NOT_EQUALS REMOVED
CampaignStatus: NOT_EQUALS REMOVED

and a dateRangeType of TODAY

This hasn't changed in years except for the recent addition of FinalUrls,
FinalMobileUrls, FinalAppUrls, TrackingUrlTemplate and UrlCustomParameters.
I wouldn't think the freshness would make a difference here as we are not
requesting any metrics and the reports go from having thousands of rows to
zero when this issue occurs.

We set includeZeroImpressions to false in the request header, but I
wouldn't think that matters when no metric columns are requested.

Thanks,
Hans

Re: empty Structure Reports, such as KEYWORDS_PERFORMANCE_REPORT

2015-06-23 Thread HK
Josh,

Correct, the request succeeds (no error) and it returns no rows.

An example of such a request was done at 6/23/2015 5:06:22 PM PDT for
customer ID 3837500421. It had includeZeroImpressions set to false. We just
discovered that setting includeZeroImpressions to true does indeed resolve
the issue. Such a request was sent for the same customer ID at 6/23/2015
5:11:20 PM PDT.

We should be able to implement that code change tomorrow, but we're still
surprised that the behavior appears to be randomly changing from one day to
another. When it does return no rows, all our merchants seem to be
affected. If this is a planned
change from your side, it'd be great if it was announced as an upcoming
change before it was implemented.

Thanks,
Hans

{adtype} value track for Dynamic Search Ads and Dynamic Remarketing Ads

2015-05-28 Thread HK
Hi,

I have seen the value dyn when using the {adType} value track parameters
and have the following questions:

   1. What value will {adType} have for Dynamic Remarketing Ads? Is it
   dyn?
   2. What value will {adType} have for Dynamic Search Ads? Is it blank?

I'm currently not able to verify which ad types get which ad type values
outside of the usual suspects such as text ads, image ads and PLAs.

What effect will trackingUrlTemplate have on a standard campaign?

2015-05-18 Thread HK
Hi,

In the AdWords UI, a campaign of type standard does not let the user set
(see) the tracking template under Campaign URL options (advanced).
However, it can be set via the APIs and the tracking template value does
show up in grid under the Campaigns tab. My question is whether the
tracking template on a standard campaign will have any effect when the ad
is served? I'm hoping the answer is yes, as this campaign type otherwise
will require third party tracking tags to be added elsewhere.

Thanks,
Hans

Re: Upgraded URLs - which items are auto upgraded on July 1st?

2015-05-08 Thread HK
Hi, Mike

Thanks for your reply and apologize for taking so long to get back to you.
Good to know that the migration doesn't necessarily occur 7/1. Do you by
any chance know when you expect to have migrated everyone? End of July?

As an example of the ad scenario, I had the following text ad (adid =
58166625610, adgroupid = 1743243130):

Display URL: www.displayurl.com
Destination
URL: http://trackingprovider.com?url=http://www.landingpageserver.com

I then selected Upgrade destination URLs... from the AdWords UI and ended
up with this:

Display URL: www.displayurl.com
Final URL: http://trackingprovider.com?url=http://www.landingpageserver.com

Because the documentation states that this can't be done in the
auto-upgrade, I assumed it would be blocked in the UI and APIs as well. We
have done something very similar (or identical) via the APIs as well, I
believe both creating an ad and upgrading an ad (upgradeurl).

Thanks,
Hans

Upgraded URLs - which items are auto upgraded on July 1st?

2015-05-05 Thread HK
Hi,

1. I don't think I've seen this explicitly stated, so I wanted to get a
confirmation. On July 1st, I'm assuming keywords, placements, ads and
sitelinks with destination URLs will be auto upgraded (destination URL
moved to final URL 1). Is this correct? Wanted to double-check that it's
not just ads that are upgraded.

2. Also, I've read that the auto upgrade won't happen if the destination
URL has a different domain than the display URL. Now, using the APIs or the
AdWords UI, this limitation does not seem to be enforced. I can create,
update or upgrade an ad where the display URL is different than that of the
destination URL and final URLs. Will this continue to be allowed after July
1st? Basically wondering if it's only a limitation of the auto upgrade, but
not otherwise not enforced.

Thanks in advance for any clarifications.

How to escape final URL more than once

2015-04-21 Thread HK
Hi,

Due to the need to support multiple tracking providers in the tracking
template, we need to escape the final URL twice. Based on various
documentation https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/2375447?hl=en,
this can be achieved by using {lpurl+2}. As testing is difficult, I haven't
verified this, but I assume it works. What confuses me here, and this is
somewhat unrelated, is how you in the tracking template reference final
URLs number 2, as up to 10 final URLs are supported. I thought I read
somewhere that the same syntax was used, so {lpurl+2}, but that conflicts
with what I mentioned earlier.

I have a feeling I'm missing something obvious here.

Thanks in advance for any clarification.
Hans

Re: Can I use the same trackingTemplateUrl for finalUrls with or without a query part ?

2015-04-20 Thread HK

 Michael,

This is a big problem for us as well. Being an agency, we don't control
what values our customers put into the final URLs, and we strongly prefer
to add our tracking via tracking templates at the campaign or ad group
level. Ideally, I'd love to see Google add logic when the tracking template
is married with the final URL (and custom parameters) to correctly use
either ? or .

Re: Testing Upgraded URLs

2015-04-09 Thread HK
Hi, Anash

Getting your ads to serve with a live account isn't always that easy when
you are developing. It means you need a live account with everything set up
correctly and you have to pay Google for every click you make while
testing. I really hope Google will consider building a test UI soon where
developers can force ads to serve without going through all the before
mentioned work. Especially now that the simplicity of destination URLs is
gone and many more factors come into play in building the URL the user ends
up triggering.

Thanks,
Hans

Hi, Mike

Correct, I am not seeing forwardCompatibilityMap being populated on
BiddableAdGroupCriterion objects (Product Partitions). However, I am
seeing forwardCompatibilityMap on CampaignCriterion objects (Product
Scopes). I would expect it to show up on both types of objects so that
anyone using v201409 have a chance to get unblocked until they upgrade to

Hopefully that makes sense. If not, I'll be happy to clarify further.

Re: Report Summary is missing

I realize this is an old thread, but is there a specific reason why the
summary can't be included in the XML response? It is definitely something
we would use. Our current solution is based on parsing XML and not a flat
file, so it'd simplify the implementation on the client side if it could be
added to the XML as well.

Note that we most often receive duplicate data as Michael mentions, but
sometimes also a null value for entries when totalNumEntries indicates

https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/community/?place=msg%2Fadwords-api%2F7XoVFgyI540%2FNKS9o9u9GrUJ

for Product Scopes, using v201409, if I subdivide a product partition using
either Channel or Channel Exclusivity, caseValue is returned as null on
the criterion object. The forwardCompatibilityMap object on
the AdGroupCriterion is also null. This will break our AdWords API
integration if merchants start using it and will quickly become a serious
problem as we have no way of representing these product partition with the
current APIs/types. I assume new types will eventually be added to
ProductDimension in a future API version, but in the meantime, we can't
have this broken.

Any help to resolve this quickly would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Hans

Thanks, Anash. Hopefully you guys will keep the download URL for the latest

How to retrieve all LocationCriterions via LocationCriterionService

2015-01-19 Thread HK
Hi,

Is there a way to get all the LocationCriterions via
the LocationCriterionService? It seems that it requires certain predicates.
I'd like to retrieve all of them maybe once every two weeks and store
locally. Is it instead expected that API users download the CSV files
from https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/appendix/geotargeting
and https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/appendix/cities-DMAregions?

Hopefully there is a way to either query all of them or add a predicate
that includes all via a get call.

Thanks,
Hans

ProductSalesChannel retired or replaced in v201409?

2015-01-16 Thread HK
While working on upgrading from v201406 to v201409, we noticed
that ProductSalesChannel is no longer present as it was in v201406
https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201406/CampaignCriterionService.ProductSalesChannel.

The migration guide
https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/guides/migration/v201409 kind
of makes it look like it's only removed from reports. But, my question is
whether the functionality that this setting provided has been replaced with
something else? If not, how will Google determine if a campaign can display
local ads or only traditional online ads?

Thanks,
Hans

Incomplete documentation for ClickType - does Product Listing Ad - Coupon match up with pla_with_promotion?

2014-11-13 Thread HK
Hi,

I'm seeing incomplete documentation for ClickType
https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/appendix/reports#ad and
I wanted to ask for confirmation around that. We are receiving clicks for
the {adType https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/2375447?hl=en}
value track parameter pla_with_promotion. My question is what that
translates to for ClickType in an Ad Performance report. I assume it's
Product Listing Ad - Coupon, but please confirm.

Other ClickType's are showing up in the report as well that are not
documented, such as product listing ad - local, product listing ad -
multichannel local and product listing ad - multichannel online but
between {adType} and {product_channel}, those are easy to match up.

Thanks,
Hans

Re: Google Product Taxonomy vs Product Bidding Category

2014-08-25 Thread HK

 Hi,

Wanted to mention that this is a show stopper for us. We need to be able to
look across all categories sent via the Content API to the GMC and then
turn around and call the AdWords API to create Product Groups partitioned
by those categories. The taxonomies really need to be identical. Although
it would be technically possible for us to map them from GMC to AdWords (if
the mappings were published), that would be less than ideal and error prone
as the taxonomies potentially evolves.

Hopefully this is something that can be addressed soon.

Thanks,
Hans

Canadian taxonomy missing for Product Groups

2014-08-25 Thread HK
Hi, guys

I apologize if I have missed something obvious, but I'm not seeing the
Canadian taxonomy in the AdWords UI or via the APIs for Product Groups. I
can create a Shopping Campaign with Country of Sale set to Canada, but when
I later go to subdivide the All Products product group, Category does not
show up as an option. The other dimensions are there however.

With the mandatory switch-over to Shopping Campaigns only 6 days away, I'm
hoping it will be available within the next couple days so that we are
start testing.

Unrelated, but I'll throw it in here. For the US, Shower Enclosures is
showing up with two different category IDs (-3658200340699135554
and 2429746971365583318) for the same level (BIDDING_CATEGORY_L5) and the
same parent (3472290827419987736). I assume that not the intention. So far,
I've only seen this for the US, and not GB for example.

Thanks,
Hans

Updating a product group unit to be excluded

2014-06-04 Thread HK
Hi,

I'm looking into changing an existing (leaf) product partition to become
excluded (and the other way around). Is the expected approach to doing this
to delete the existing BiddableAdGroupCriterion and then create a new
NegativeAdGroupCritierion and including the same ProductPartion with the
NegativeAdGroupCritierion? If so, is it required to include all the other
product partitions in the ad group in the API call to have all the
relationships recreated even though I'm must changing a leaf?

Thanks,
Hans

Value Track parameters for Product Group and Product Target IDs

2014-04-11 Thread HK
Hi,

This might not be the correct alias, but trying anyway as we haven't heard
back from a Content API post, and it is AdWords related.

We need to capture the IDs of Product Groups and Product Targets (for some
time) via a Value Track parameter. We at first assumed that for Shopping
Campaigns, {product_partition_id} would get a value while
{adwords_producttargetid} would be blank (and the other way around).
However, it looks like both values are set (same ID) at least for Product
Targets. So if Product Target 123 triggered the ad,
using myParam={adwords_producttargetid}{product_partition_id} returns
myParam=123123. That was unexpected to me.

So the question is, can we safely assume that {product_partition_id} will
always work for both Product Targets and Product Groups? Using only
{product_partition_id} seems like the way to go, but I want to make sure
that is 100% reliable and that we don't lose the IDs of Product Targets. It
appears that way, but I'm somewhat concerned that getting both values
populated was a fluke on Google's side.

Thanks,
Hans

displaySelect set to true for Seach Only

2014-04-11 Thread HK
Hi,

I'm seeing something unexpected with displaySelect and wanted to see if
there is an explanation for it. Using the AdWords UI, I create a Search
Only (standard) campaign. Then looking at the campaign via the v201402
API, displaySelect is set to true. I expected it to be false. (In
networkSetting, targetContentNetwork is false).

I have seen the Changes Required for Creating New Campaigns in the AdWords
API v201402 blog and what I'm getting back in the APIs don't seem to match.

ManagedCustomerService behaving differently when using test account versus production account.

2014-03-18 Thread HK
Hi,

We call 'get' on ManagedCustomerService to get the CustomerID for an
account linked to an MCC. This has worked fine for at least over a year in
production, but I noticed today that doing this for a test account linked
to a test MCC account, returns null. In production, the exact same code
work just fine and returns the customer ID of the linked account (not the
MCC).

I don't see this called out in the test account
differenceshttps://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/test-accounts#differences_between_test_accounts_and_production_accounts
 list,
so I'm wondering if this is expected? We are still using ClientLogin, but
in the process of upgrading. In the call, we are submitting...

ClientCustomerId = null
ClientEmail = email of the linked account
Email = email of MCC
dev token of production account
AuthToken for MCC email/password.

We are using v201309 of the APIs.

Would appreciate if someone could clarify whether this is an AdWords issue
or by design.

Thanks,
Hans

Re: ManagedCustomerService behaving differently when using test account versus production account.

2014-03-18 Thread HK
FYI - this was my bad and the issue has nothing to do with test accounts
after all. I did not realize that the predicate value was case sensitive.
So adding a predicate for Login = myacco...@me.com does not return
anything if the email registered for the account is myacco...@me.com.
