Search Term Insights Beta API Pull

2024-08-20 Thread Joe Hall
Has anyone built a functioning API call to get the data from the Insights
Beta?

I found the fields references
here,
https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/fields/v15/campaign_search_term_insight,

but all my API calls and queries says the fields don't exist.

Any advice?

Re: customer match for search not working

2024-08-07 Thread John Joe Smith
My question is, how could the list sizes be so different for Display and
Search. I understand some level of variation, but clearly there is either a
bug with Customer Match for Search campaigns, or an additional requirement
with Customer Match that only applies to Search campaigns that is not
documented somewhere (me and my team have been over the requirements and
triple-checked and tested all our API calls and we are doing everything
correctly).

Can you help us identify why our lists are populating almost 10K users for
Display Campaigns but 0 for Search?

Thanks,
John Joe

Customer Match for Search Not Working

2024-08-05 Thread John Joe Smith
Why do my audiences when uploaded to the Customer Match endpoint say that
we have 10K users for display and Gmail with 100% match rate, but 0
customers and 0% match rate for Search Ads?

Can you look at this upload and see if there's an additional formatting
requirement, ID or param that Search requires that Display and Gmail don't
that's causing the 0% match? My team has been over all requirements in
exhaustive detail, along with a lot of testing, and we still can't get it
to work for Search.

See example API response below.

Thank You.

0% Customer Match for Search, High Match Rates for Display and Gmail

2024-08-05 Thread John Joe Smith
Hello,

When we upload audience lists, we're seeing a 0% match rate for Search, but
a decent match rate for other campaign types like Display and Gmail. Are
there additional requirements, IDs or params we need to include in this
audience for our users to populate for Search campaigns? See below for the
Google Ads API response to such an upload from our logs.

API Basic Access Token - No Respones or Information

2024-03-28 Thread John Joe Smith
Hello,

I've submitted two applications for Basic Access to the Ads API with no
response a month ago and two weeks ago. This is my second thread in this
group requesting some help since the first had no responses.

Can you please help escalate the case as this is a critical need for our
product/client services.

 - Google Ads Manager Account (MCC) ID: 110-252-8093
 - Access level (current): Test
 - Access level (requested): Basic
 - Cases ID: None provided

Also, yes I have reached out to the Google Ads API support team, many
times. Again no response.

Please help us and tell us what we have to do to get our certification for
basic access ASAP!

-John Joe

I applied for basic access over a month ago and never had a confirmation

Can you chase up what's going on with my application?

Basic API Access Token - 20 days no response

2024-02-12 Thread Joe Hall
Hi Support Team,

I applied for Google Ads API access back in Jan 24th and Feb 3rd and 6th.
I've received no email response to any of the requests. My Google rep
couldn't provide any guidance. Can you please help escalate the case as
this is a critical need for our product/client services.

 - Google Ads Manager Account (MCC) ID: 715-138-8450
 - Access level: Basic
 - Cases ID: None provided

Thank you,
Joe

Applied for Google API Basic Account over 3 weeks ago.

2023-09-06 Thread Phillip Joe
Dear Google API Team,
I am writing to let you know about my recent attempts to apply for basic
Google API access. Unfortunately, I have submitted applications on two
separate accounts, and despite multiple submissions, I have not received
any response from your team. It has been over three weeks since my initial
application.

My primary concern is the lack of communication regarding the status of my
application. I have not received any confirmation of receipt, and this has
left me in a state of uncertainty and urgency.

I kindly request your assistance in resolving this matter promptly. My CID
is 152-322-3013, and my application is time-sensitive.

Thank you for your understanding and assistance.

Using Ads API with Microsoft Flow / Power Automate

2021-04-22 Thread Joe Evans
I'm going to start this by saying I am not a professional developer.

My company uses Microsoft 365 for everything, and I am using Power Automate
to automate a lot of processes. I've been successful implementing REST APIs
into Power Automate using the built-in HTTP function.

However, I can't even seem to get the ball rolling with implementing a REST
call for the Ads API. All I want to do is use the Keyword Planning Service
to get historical metrics on an array of keywords.

Currently the team is doing this manually by logging in, pasting the
keywords they want, then pasting the results into Excel.

>From what I can see in the documentation, this could be automated with the
API, but there doesn't seem to be a clear/easy starting point or accessible
test environment that I've been able to find with just about every other
API I've encountered.

Has anyone had any success using a REST call to use the keyword planner?

Google Ads MCC test accounts NOT creating client accounts

2020-02-05 Thread Joe Davis
When a manager test account is created, I see that it is labeled as
"(Closed)" the moment it is created, which seems to prevent the creation of
client accounts within the test MCC. When I create a client account within
a test MCC, the first page of the set up process asks for an account name,
to confirm the type of account, time zone, currency, etc. but then the
second page displays a message that says "There is no billing setup or you
are not authorized to perform any operations in the billing page. Please
contact customer support for more information." Again, this is when trying
to create a client account within a test manager account, which is
apparently necessary for making API requests that involve creating
campaigns since those can be created within client accounts only.

All instructions provided by Google in their AdWords API documentation have
been followed multiple times by multiple people and no one can figure this
out. I'm guessing Google's link to where test manager accounts are created
is outdated, or they are not allowing *anyone* to create test client
accounts at this time.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

Third Party Impressions Pixel

2020-01-13 Thread Joe
Is there a way to attach a third party pixel so that we can see impressions
in real time? I've been searching through the docs, and although it seems
that it was supported for publishers at one time, I can't find any mention
for advertisers wanting to attach a third party tracking pixel to their ads
through AdWords or now Google Ads.

Remove Shared Sets

2019-07-09 Thread Joe Stedman
Hi guys,

I've removed some shared sets (negative keyword lists) using the GUI.

But whenever I use the SharedSetService to retrieve the sets they still
appear as Enabled.

This happens when I use SharedSetService, or CampaignSharedSetService, both
on the Ads API and AdWords API. Is there any way to only retrieve the
enabled shared sets?

Thanks,
Joe

Re: Did Google Ads API provide access log ?

2019-07-08 Thread Joe Stedman
Not related to Google Ads specifically, but if you log into your Google
account (the one that granted access to the 3rd party app). You can select
'Security -> Third-party apps with account access' and revoke the access
there.

Re: Conservative Targeting in AdWords API

I hate to be *that *guy but, is this still not available through the
AdWords or Ads APIs?
I couldn't see anything in the change history but i'm kinda hoping you'd
expose it in the new ads API at least.

Re: Shopping campaign setup via API

2019-03-13 Thread Joe Stedman
There are a few tools out there that do this already but are built on the
AdWords API. (I even built one myself).
I think the Google Ads API has a few limitations. eg. I don't think it can
subdivide by product category yet. Might be worth waiting til V2.

Re: List of campaign attributes.

2019-03-12 Thread Joe Stedman
You know what, i figured it out.
$"SELECT name,selectable,enum_values WHERE category = 'ATTRIBUTE'" gives
you all the attributes. Then you can just include the ones with a
ResourceName that contains "/campaign.".
There's probably a better way though.

List of campaign attributes.

2019-03-12 Thread Joe Stedman
Hi, I'm trying to get a list of attributes+metrics for the campaign
artifact along with their enum values if applicable.
I managed to get the metrics using the GoogleAdsFieldService with this as
the query:
"SELECT name, category, selectable, enum_values, filterable, sortable,
selectable_with, data_type, is_repeated WHERE category IN
('METRIC','ATTRIBUTE') AND selectable_with CONTAINS ALL ('campaign')"

This only returns the metrics, which i understand. What should I do to get
the attributes?

Thanks,
Joe

Google Ads API Metric List

2019-03-07 Thread Joe Stedman
Hi,

With the AdWords API it's always been possible to download a csv of all the
metrics found here: the button at the top of this page
<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/appendix/reports/all-reports>
.
Does something similar exist for the Google Ads API? Closest thing I could
find was this metric list here:
https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/fields/metrics
<https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/fields/metrics> but
there's no file export.

Thanks,
Joe

Is this still possible with Ad Customizers?

FeedItemTargetService and the SET operator.

2018-12-19 Thread Joe Stedman
I'm writing a program where I need to set the campaign targeting on ad
customizer feed items.
I'm using v201806 of the API.

I can use the ADD and REMOVE operators just fine but i get a
operand_not_supported error if I try and SET the targeting.
For now my workaround is to remove all the targeting and then add it all,
but this seems a bit messy. i must be doing something wrong.

the operand i'm trying to post contains the campaignId, feedId, feedItemId
and of course the operator. What am I missing?

Regards,
Joe

Offline conversions not being shown after switching to data driven attribution

2018-10-29 Thread joe . burnard
We switched to data driven attribution on the 22nd and have not seen a
correct number of offline conversions displayed in the UI since then. The
conversions are showing correctly on the Tools > Search Attribution page
however the numbers shown everywhere else e.g. the overview page are
incorrect.

To upload the conversions we are using the batch upload conversions api
v201809.

Re: Possible to retrieve invoices through API?

2018-08-02 Thread joe
Hey Garrett, Milind,

We wish the Adwords API would support fetching invoices as well. Its 2018
and the idea of manually getting your own billing data seems old school and
is pretty laborious. Google is incredible with their APIs, but leave out
billing (Adwords, G Suite, etc.). In the meantime we have a solution for
automating the retrieval and helping break them down by client (if
necessary). We currently use it to fetch our own invoices. Since we're in
the business of automating this kind of data and streamlining it for other
companies, we're happy to chat if it would work for you. Reach out via
https://www.greenback.com/contact if there's any interest.

Cheers,
Joe

Retrieving Ad Extensions

2018-05-08 Thread Joe Stedman
Hi,

I'm trying to get a list of all the ad extensions in an account at account
level, campaign level and ad group level.

I've used the *CustomerExtensionSettingService *and the
*CampaignExtensionSettingService
*with a selector applied containing the fields: 'ExtensionType' and
'Extensions'.
This all seems to work fine, and I can see a list of entries.
When I try and use the *AdGroupExtensionSettingService *to retrieve the
extensions however, it does not work. Weirdly, I can see the entries exist
as the 'totalNumEntries' property on the page is populated. However the
'entries' property is null.

<https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-6kuxXuDS8NI/WvGmb8s06NI/A1g/TKACx9kS0F0ozeeHx1S3H1JSz4l6G68pgCLcBGAs/s1600/Capture.PNG>

(see screenshot above of my *AdGroupExtensionSettingPage *object).

Any help would be most appreciated.

Re: AuthenticationError.CLIENT_CUSTOMER_ID_IS_REGUIRED

We're still experiencing the issue on our end at this time.

Still receiving a 'CLIENT_CUSTOMER_ID_IS_REQUIRED' error even though it is
being passed in the SOAP body.

Is there an ETA on a full fix? :(

Re: Finding automated ads with awql

2017-12-14 Thread Joe Stedman
Ok I solved this, but i'll leave it up in case anybody needs it in future.
I was using this method:
public ReportUtilities(AdWordsUser user, string query, string format);

Assuming it would use the latest AdWords version, but it does not.
Once you switch to this method:
public ReportUtilities(AdWordsUser user, string reportVersion, string
query, string format);

You can define the AdWords version you need, which seemed to fix the
problem. It does however mean that you'll need to keep changing your
reportVersion string every time your version gets sunset.

Finding automated ads with awql

2017-12-14 Thread Joe Stedman
Hi,

I'm using the c# library to request an awql report for automated ads in my
account.
The Nuget package version I'm using is 22.4.0.0

When I try and request the report using this string:
"SELECT
CreativeFinalUrls,AdGroupStatus,Status,AdGroupId,CampaignName,CampaignId,AdGroupName,HeadlinePart1,HeadlinePart2,Description

FROM AD_PERFORMANCE_REPORT WHERE Status != 'DISABLED' AND Automated =
'TRUE'"
I get the error:
"Customer passed in invalid field name for a report type. (Error:
ReportDefinitionError.INVALID_FIELD_NAME_FOR_REPORT, FieldPath: Automated,
Trigger: )"

Is this correct? Is the AdWords Nuget package 'ReportUtilites' class
currently using v201710 of the API?

I hope this is the right place to ask,

Thanks,
Joe

Is AdWords API Developer Token Access limited to a region?

2017-10-24 Thread Joe Flood
Hi There,

We have recently on-boarded a new client in a new region (jakarta - we are
Sydney AU based), and we're having trouble retrieving campaigns through the
Adwords API for their account. (no issues for existing clients).

We *can *retrieve the client's account through the "CustomerService", but
when retrieving campaigns for this account, we receive an empty list, with
no errors.

This would be the first non-aus client, so my hunch is that this may be
caused by a region locking on our developer account, but I'm not sure.

Does anyone know if this may be the case?

Thanks,
Joe

Re: Adword campaigns are real time?

2017-04-27 Thread 'Joe Chang' via AdWords API Forum
Hi Ivan:

This is our supported customer, so hope to help clarify. It's a more
general question around Audience Lists, specifically Customer Match Lists
(CrmBasedUserList)

Thinking on their behalf, question in pseudo-code:

1. Campaign (With Id: "A") exists within Adwords Account.
2. Customer creates CrmBasedUserList "B", uses MutateMembersOperand to add
1000 email addresses
3. UserList "B" is added as CampaignCriterion to Campaign Id "A" (in step 1)
4. UserList "B" is then mutated using MutateMembersOperand to add
additional members (email addresses)

Question
A. Google's documentation indicates it might take several hours for the
userlist to be populated with members
<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/guides/remarketing#customer_match_with_email_address>.

Can we confirm?
B. How long will it take for Campaign "A" to start targeting the additional
members added in step 4? Does this happen as soon as the "several hours"
(Above) have passed? Or is there a delay between population and actual
targeting?

Hopefully this helps clarify, please feel free to contact me directly for
more information.

Thanks,
-joe

Re: Google Product Taxonomy vs Product Bidding Category

2016-09-29 Thread Joe Stedman
Hi Shwetha,

Thank you for getting back to me.
I still have a problem though, example:

I have a selection of products with the taxonomy "Hardware/Painting & Wall
Covering Supplies/Paint"
Using the ConstantDataService, I can get category ids of
'1689639310991627077' for Hardware and '6493303640508933718' for Wall
Covering Supplies, and can confirm that 'Wall Covering Supplies' is indeed
a child of 'Hardware'.
Yet when I call mutate on the adGroupCriterionService I get an error
telling me that "Bidding categories do not form a valid path in the
Shopping bidding category taxonomy...". Which if i'm understanding that
correctly, is telling me that 'Wall Covering Supplies' is not a correct
child of 'Hardware'.

Of course, this is just one example, there are far more products for some
of my other clients that have the same problem.
If the ConstantDataService is telling me that it should be correct, I have
no way of catching the error before i call mutate, so the entire operation
array will fail unless I call mutate on each product individually which is
a bad idea :)

Am I doing something wrong, is there another way to make sure my products
have the correct taxonomy before I try to create their partitions?

Kind Regards,
Joe

Google Product Taxonomy vs Product Bidding Category

2016-09-28 Thread Joe Stedman
Hi All,

When automating the creation of shopping campaigns I noticed that the
Google Product Categories returned by the API don't quite match up with the
taxonomy found here:
https://www.google.com/basepages/producttype/taxonomy-with-ids.en-GB.txt

Causing my code to throw exceptions when it tries to create a product tree
using the outdated taxonomy.

The exact error I receive is : "Bidding categories do not form a valid path
in the Shopping bidding category taxonomy.."

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Joe

Are PLAs/Shopping only purchase sale?

Also, what is the difference between ConversionCategoryName and

2016-08-25 Thread 'Joe Rosenwald' via AdWords API Forum
Hi Peter,

I work with Kyle. Unfortunately, our RateExceedError object is missing the
retryAfterSeconds, among other properties that should be returned with the
object.
We are unsure of how to proceed.

We are not using the SDK, but post, and the XML above is the full body of
the response object.

Thanks!
Joe

Newb: No campaigns were found.

2016-06-23 Thread Joe M
Hello

All of my credentials i.e. developer token, user agent, client customer id,
(oauth2) client id, client secret, refresh token have been added to the
auth.ini file.

; Detailed descriptions of these properties can be found at:
; https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/headers

developerToken = "my developer token"
userAgent = "my user agent"

; Uncomment clientCustomerId to make requests against a single AdWords account,
; such as when you run the examples.
; If you don't set it here, you can set the client customer ID dynamically:
; $user = new AdWordsUser();
; $user->SetClientCustomerId(...);

clientCustomerId = "my client customer id 10 digit"

[OAUTH2]

; If you do not have a client ID or secret, please create one of type
; "installed application" in the Google API console:
; https://cloud.google.com/console
client_id = "my oauth2 generated client id"
client_secret = "my oauth2 generated client secret"

; If you already have a refresh token, enter it below. Otherwise run
; GetRefreshToken.php.
refresh_token = "my generated token"

; Optionally, uncomment the oAuth2AdditionalScopes line to provide additional
; OAuth2 scopes. The AdWords API OAuth2 scope is always included. For
; additional OAuth2 scopes, reference the OAuth 2.0 Playground
; (https://developers.google.com/oauthplayground/). In the playground, each
; application has a list of OAuth2 scopes. For example, you would enter
; https://www.googleapis.com/auth/analytics here as a value if you would like
; to include Google Analytics as an additional scope.
; oAuth2AdditionalScopes = "INSERT_COMMA_SEPARATED_LIST_OF_SCOPES_HERE"

I am running this script:

$this->user = new AdWordsUser();

$campaignService = $this->user->GetService('CampaignService',
$this->adwordsVersion);
// Create AWQL query.
$query = 'SELECT Id, Name, Status ORDER BY Name';

// Create paging controls.
$offset = 0;

do {
$pageQuery = sprintf('%s LIMIT %d,%d', $query, $offset,
AdWordsConstants::RECOMMENDED_PAGE_SIZE);
// Make the query request.
$page = $campaignService->query($pageQuery);

// Display results.
if (isset($page->entries)) {
foreach ($page->entries as $campaign) {
printf("Campaign with name '%s' and ID '%s' was found.\n",
$campaign->name, $campaign->id);
}
} else {
var_dump($page);
echo "No campaigns were found.\n";
}

// Advance the paging offset.
$offset += AdWordsConstants::RECOMMENDED_PAGE_SIZE;
} while ($page->totalNumEntries > $offset);

However, No campaigns were found yet I do have campaigns. I am not running
this with Test accounts. The credentials are for the Production account. I
am using the MCC Client ID. I have research this everywhere with no
resolution. Please help as to what I am doing wrong. If you need more
info please let me know.

Thanks!
Joe

Seeing this error as well with v201509. Some requests go through but the
majority give CLIENT_NOT_AUTHORIZED.

Re: Creating dynamic TemplateAds through API, possible?

2015-06-29 Thread Joe Heald
Thanks Josh,

I'm sorry to hear that template isn't supported. I don't think the work
around will work for our us, as we need the company logo to be dynamic as
well. I don't think that is possible to use a feed item attribute for that.
Do you think creating those type of templateAds (416, specifically) might
be possible in a future iteration?

Thanks,
Joe

Re: Where to find info on AD_FORMAT_NOT_SPECIFIED error?

2015-06-24 Thread Joe Heald
Takeshi,

I am experiencing very similar errors, which I cannot find an explanation
for in the API docs. Below are the errors I am receiving...

AdError.AD_FORMAT_NOT_SPECIFIED @ operations[0].operand.ad.adFormat
AdError.INVALID_INPUT @ operations[0].operand.ad.ddFeeds

I am trying to create a new AdGroupAd, of the TemplateAd type. However, I
am attempting to use a custom TemplateAd ID, 416. I have created the ad
template 416 manually in the adwords admin panel, but I would love to use
this template structure to create new ads through the API. Is this not
possible. If needed, I can post the full SOAP XML that I am attempting, and
post the full response that I am receiving. Thanks in advance for any help
you can offer.

-Joe

Are you using the newest version of the API 201406 - i think -. the older
ones might not support that , which is why you might get that error.

Re: API support for AdWords "Labels" feature?

2014-08-07 Thread Joe Dealereprocess
This is a nice feature - However - we manage and large group of accounts -
in our MCC and sometimes these accounts go paused , or other things... We
attached certain labels to these accounts ( account level ) - However , It
doesn't seem that the Label service has support for account level labels -
when we attach a label to a campaign or adgroup it is fine, but what about
the account level labels - ??

Re: AuthorizationError.USER_PERMISSION_DENIED for one MCC but works for other MCC under "Parent MCC"

2014-05-20 Thread Joe
So they answer turned out to be that I had authenticated against another
user when I used OAuth 2.0. I was signed in Chrome, but when I ran the
c# OAuthTokenGenerator program, it threw up a browser window in IE, and as
luck would have it, I was signed in as a different user. I just assumed it
was signed in as the right user (it didn't help that I had 2 user names
that were very similar). Once I reran the OAuthTokenGenerator program and
logged in as the appropriate user, everything worked.

Big thanks to Josh for the help!!!

AuthorizationError.USER_PERMISSION_DENIED from 1 MCC but not another under the same MCC

2014-05-16 Thread Joe
I have 2 MCCs under 1 MCC:

Master MCC
--MCC1
--MCC2

Using the API Key and Credentials for the Master MCC, I can access
everything for MCC1, but not MCC2. I get
a AuthorizationError.USER_PERMISSION_DENIED message. From the Web UI, I can
see everything in all 3 MCCs.

Someone please help!!! I've unlinked and relinked MCCs, I've deleted and
regenerated Credentials, nothing works.

Thank you,
Joe

AuthorizationError.USER_PERMISSION_DENIED for one MCC but works for other MCC under "Parent MCC"

2014-05-16 Thread Joe
So there is a Parent MCC with 2 MCCs below it:

Parent MCC
--MCC 1
--MCC 2

Login and API Token are at the Parent MCC level. Within the Google Adwords
Website, both MCCs can be accessed all the way down to the Client IDs. Yet
within the API, only Clients within MCC 1 can be access. When accessing MCC
2's Client IDs, a "(400) Bad Request" returns with the message
"AuthorizationError.USER_PERMISSION_DENIED"

Someone please help!!!

Thank you in advance!!!

TargetingIdeaService MonthlySearchVolume value property is null

2014-01-07 Thread Joe Meadway
Hi there

I'm using the TargetingIdeaService to run a monthly query for the
Targeted_Monthly_Searches for a given set of keywords and regions. Have
been running the query for about 1 year without issue, but today found that
the
MonthlySearchVolumeAttribute<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201309/TargetingIdeaService.MonthlySearchVolumeAttribute>'s
value
property is returning null in some cases, rather than an array of
MonthlySearchVolume objects, including on keywords which were returning
values correctly the previous month. The documentation states that this
property is 'required and should not be null'. I have checked in the
Keyword Planner GUI tool, and the keyword in question only shows dashes for
it's Avg. Monthly Searches.

Are there any circumstance in which the value property of the
MonthlySearchVolumeAttribute would return null for a given keyword?

Thanks,
Joe

TargetingIdeaService, Targeted_Monthly_Searches array reversed?

2014-01-07 Thread Joe Meadway
Hi there

I'm using the TargetingIdeaService to get monthly keyword search counts for
a set of keywords, running a query monthly. In November (and all previous
months), the array of results ran from the previous month at index [0], to
the earliest month at index [11], as documented
https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201309/TargetingIdeaService.MonthlySearchVolumeAttribute.

Running in December, and today, the array seems to have reversed - item at
index [0] is dated December 2012, item at index [11] is November 2013. I
haven't seen this change documented anywhere, so was hoping if someone
could clarify if this is a deliberate change that I should alter my code
for, or a bug that will be fixed?

Thanks,
Joe

oAuth2 GOOGLE_ACCOUNT_COOKIE_INVALID error when requesting campaigns

2013-05-07 Thread Joe Kelly

I have been attempting to connect using the recommended authentication
method: oAuth2, and have been getting errors similar to the issue found
here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/adwords-api/nwGKquvise8

I have been able to get an access token and refresh token, but whenever I
*immediately* attempt to retrieve the user's campaigns I get
the GOOGLE_ACCOUNT_COOKIE_INVALID error. I also had to manually set the
access token in the header otherwise it won't send.

I am using the PHP adwords api client library, and I'm using a local domain
(for the callback) for testing.

Ideas?

DeviceTypeSearchParameter deprecated in v201302? And what alternative?

2013-03-07 Thread Joe Meadway
We're currently looking to migrate to v201302 from v201206 (using the .NET
client library, if it matters). We'd previously been using the API to get
targeted monthly search volumes for a list of keywords across a set of
regions and devices, and using the DeviceTypeSearchParameter to specify
which device to get the total for.

This parameter type seems to have been removed from the API after v201209 -
compare v201209 SearchParameter
documentation<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201209/TargetingIdeaService.SearchParameter>
with
that for
v201302<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201302/TargetingIdeaService.SearchParameter>,

and I've been unable to find any mention of it's removal in the various
sunsetting/migration pages. Has it been removed, or just moved, or renamed?

If it has been removed, can anyone provide advice for what to use instead?
I've found the Platform
criterion<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201302/TargetingIdeaService.Criterion>,

the enumeration of which would give a suitable breakdown for the search
totals, but I'm not sure how to use this with a Keyword
TargetingIdeaSelector - apparently only Placement requests can retrieve the
Criterion attribute after
v201206<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201302/TargetingIdeaService.TargetingIdeaSelector>
.

Any help much appreciated,
Joe

ManagedCustomerService.get() not returning emailaddress of client account

2012-07-10 Thread Joe
[image: More message actions]
1:13 PM (4 minutes ago)
Hi,

We were relying on emailAddress of the customers to check for uniqueness of
client accounts in our MCC .
Using AccountServiceV13 we were able to set the email address like below

 https://adwords.google.com/api/adwords/v13/reseller";>

f...@fake.com
..
..

With new 'ManagedCustomer' object 'login' field is readonly and cannot be
set while creating the account.

All my client accounts thereby returns an empty email address when I do a
ManagedCustomerService.get().

According to the docs

*login:*

*The email address of the account's first login user, if any. This field
can be selected using the value "Login". This field can be filtered on.
This field is read only and should not be set. If this field is sent to the
API, it will be ignored.*

**

I am not sure what does that mean by *"The email address of the account's
first login user, if any".
*

if its not email then what do you suggest we should use for checking
uniqueness across client accounts.*
*

Can you please clarify . Thanks in advance.
Joe

How to get the "Effective URL" from the v201109 Ad Performance Report

2012-02-17 Thread Joe
Hi everyone,

My company is in the process of migrating it's reporting interface from v13
to v201109. We're having a lot of trouble making the migration work because
the new Ad Performance report takes away the "effective URL" field that the
v13 version used to have, which is very critical to us. I've read through
the other posts in this forum, but an still unclear the best approach.
Here's our situation:

- Our typical ad group has somewhere between 1,000 and 2,000 keywords, and
between 2 and 10 ads.
- Sometimes these ad groups are running on the search network, sometimes
they are running on the content network, sometimes both are enabled at once.
- All ads and all keywords have destination URLs.
- The way our system is able to identify that entity to attribute the cost
to is via the URL. Every URL for every keyword and every ad is unique. By
looking at the URL for an ad group running both search and content, for
example, we are able to easily determine what cost came from content (and
was attributed to the ad's URL) and what costs came from search (and were
attributed to the keyword's URL).
- The main requirement for our business is that we need reporting on a per
keyword/ad combination. We need to know not just how the keywords and ads
are doing individually, but what keyword, ad combinations are working the
best/worst/etc... Again, this was very easy using the old v13 report.

Now that there is no effective URL field, our system fails. At first, my
thought was to run BOTH the Ad Performance report and the Destination URL
report, and join them together in memory, but then I noticed that while the
Ad performance report now has a keyword ID, the destination url report does
not. So I'm confused on how to join them. Is there a different report I
should use? I'd appreciate any specifics you can offer, because honestly,
I'm a bit lost. There seems to be some talk in the forum about joining
three separate reports to similar the old v13 reports, but I'm not sure
about that approach.

One specific question is how do I know if the traffic is from content or
search? Will the keywordID be null for content traffic?
Is there any other reason why the keywordID would be null?
If the keywordID field is not null, and the keyword has a destination URL,
is it a guarantee that the keyword's URL is the one that was used?
Any other gotchas?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Joe

P.S. There is definitely a lot of chatter in this forum about similar
issues, but none with a specific solution, at least that I understood:

Monthly Search Volume from > 12 months ago

2011-12-01 Thread Joe
Hi everyone,

I am currently using the TARGETED_MONTHLY_SEARCHES attribute type in the
TargetingIdeaSelector to get a rolling 12 months of data on my keywords.
Unfortunately, I need to go back further than 12 months for the analysis
that I'm doing. I haven't been able to figure out how to do that. Is that
possible? Is there any way I can get search volume data from more than 12
months ago?

Thanks in advance for the help,

Re: How to get the AdgroupsBid types and their Bid fields?

Hi again Anash,

if (adGroup.getBids() instanceof ManualCPCAdGroupBids) {
ManualCPCAdGroupBids manualCpcBids =
(ManualCPCAdGroupBids)adGroup.getBids();
System.out.println ("test" +manualCpcBids.getSiteMaxCpc()

} else if (adGroup.getBids() instanceof ManualCPMAdGroupBids) {
ManualCPMAdGroupBids test = (ManualCPMAdGroupBids)adGroup.getBids();
System.out.println ("test" +test.getMaxCpm());

}

The ManualCPCAdGroupBids gets in condition but the bids fields returns
NULL. Is there code missing or what code did do wrong?

Re: ManualCPCAdGroupBids bid values returns to NULL

2010-10-11 Thread Joe
Hi Eric,

I tried to cast:
ManualCPCAdGroupBids test = (ManualCPCAdGroupBids) adGroup.getBids();
System.out.println ("test" +test.getSiteMaxCpc()
+"test1"+test.getKeywordContentMaxCpc()+"test2"+test.getSiteMaxCpc());

It returns to NULL and it seems i tried use the code :
test.getSiteMaxCpc().getAmount, there is null pointer exception.
Therefor the test value is null. I don't understand I tried to output
the System.out.println(adGroup.getBids().getAdGroupBidsType()); // it
displays ManualCPCAdGroupBids , I assume its ManualCPCAdGroupBids but
bid values of ManualCPCAdGroupBids are null.

Can you please give me example how to get bid values in every adgroup?
I'm still intermediate level these adwords api.

Thanks,
Joe

Re: Google AdWords: Keyword Tool - Logged In or Logged Out?

Thank you Eric. I see it's an issue and core engineering is working on
it.

Do you have an idea which set of numbers is correct or closer to
correct? In other words, where is the issue, when logged in or when
logger out? With this information, at least we can proceed with our
campaigns with more confidence.

Thank You,
Joe

Google AdWords: Keyword Tool - Logged In or Logged Out?

2010-07-09 Thread Joe Z
I have noticed the Google AdWords: Keyword Tool returns dramatically
different results depending on whether I'm logged in or logged out of
my AdWords account.

The logged in results are much lower then results when I'm logged out.
I have seen others make the same observation, but I have yet to find
an explanation.

For example:

Keyword - canon camera bag - Exact result:
Logged In - Global 1,300 Local 590
Logged Out - Global 14,800 Local 8,100

I am new to AdWords and this confusion makes me hesitant to start a
campaign until I understand what I'm seeing as far as search volumes.

Which set of results is more accurate?
Why such large discrepancy depending on log in status?

Thank You,
Joe

AdWords API Problems with getKeywordVariations api call

2009-03-19 Thread Joe

Earlier this week from Monday through yesterday (Wednesday), there was
a problem with the getKeywordVariations call. The moreSpecific
variations should be more refined versions of the seed keyword. For
those days it was only semi-refined. The seed keyword "fried chicken"
should produce up to 200 variations of additional keyword phrases
containing the seed keyword "fried chicken". What I was seeing is that
it was giving keywords that contained either "fried" or "chicken".

Can I get confirmation on what was the nature of the problem? Was the
behavior of the API call changed for that period of time or was it a
problem with the underlying data?

I burned a lot of api credits and money because of these problems. My
application looks at a particular keyword and it's refinements on
using the moreSpecific versions of keywords and builds a hierarchy
using them. With moreSpecific the hierarchy always quickly narrow and
ends. With the problems the hierarchy was broadening because the terms
were being used as an or and not as an exact phrase.

Also, what is the mechanism to go about getting a refund for api
credits.

thanks,

Joe

AdWords API Re: How can I tell if the books are closed in a report?

2008-11-13 Thread Joe

Thanks for the reply Jeff. I will set me report downloading job to not
start any earlier than 8am.

For the future, I think it would be great if in both the API and in
the AdWords UI there was a "final" flag letting us know whether or not
the numbers are fully complete and accurate. Not to bring up a
competitor but Yahoo's Reporting API has a method you can call,
similar to Google's validateReportJob that tells you whether or not
the books are closed on all the data you requested. Users can still
download the report if they want to, but they're know if the data is
accurate or not, and can choose to wait if it's not. I would love to
see something like that in AdWords. I'll post to the forum you
suggested and get any feedback.

Thanks again,
Joe
