Documentation

2019-09-10 Thread Marcos Gil Fuertes
Hi guys,

Please, make the documentation a bit more clear since (sometimes) it's a
bit confusing.

https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201809/AdGroupAdService.Ad

type

Ad.Type
<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201809/AdGroupAdService.Ad.Type.html>

Type of ad. Indicates that this instance is a subtype of Ad. Although this
field is returned in the response, it is ignored on input and *cannot be
selected*. Specify xsi:type instead.

...
UNKNOWN

*This field can be selected using the value "AdType".*
This field can be filtered on.

documentation clarification

2012-02-29 Thread chris h
The report field defintions have this in Notes for AdPerformance.KeywordID
and SearchQueryPerformance.KeywordID

"In the Ad Performance Report this field contains the ID of the criterion
that triggered the ad, segmenting the report and preventing zero
impressions. The ID can be for any type of criterion, including placements,
verticals, etc. Cross-reference with the Criteria Report to determine the
criteria type and details."

I'm just looking for further clarification and explanation.

documentation inconsistencies?

2019-06-06 Thread Benjamin Roth
I would like to report some glitches I faced while implementing google ads
code using https://github.com/googleads/google-ads-ruby

Basically it's a matter of documentation stating entities are editable
while they are not (or maybe partially, yet would deserve clarification).

I put below the list of entities we did check alongside the error messages
we got:

- Keywords: `'keyword.match_type' cannot be modified by 'UPDATE'` so we
cant rely on mere update

- AdCustomizerFeedMapping: bug in the gem maybe, cannot update: `undefined
method `update=' for
#]`

- AdCustomizerFeed: `The customer is not eligible to mutate this resource.`
Yet delete/create work fine

- CampaignAdSchedule: `Field 'ad_schedule.day_of_week' cannot be modified
by 'UPDATE' operation., at operations[1].update.ad_schedule.day_of_week",
details: [https://googleadsdeveloper.blogspot.com/

Documentation question

2022-02-28 Thread axtens
In many places in the AdWords documentation, for example in
<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201809/TargetingIdeaService.Location>

in the blurb about Criterion.Type it says, "Specify xsi:type instead."

What does "Specify xsi:type instead" mean? And where can I see an example
of doing so?

Documentation offline?

2019-10-07 Thread 'Manuel Spierenburg' via AdWords API and Google Ads API Forum
Hi Google Ads Api Team,

It seems that the documentation for the google ads api is offline already
for some time.
https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/start

Also I discovered that I get DNS resolution errors currently when trying to
use google ads api v2.

Is the documentation coming back?

Kind regards,

v200909 sandbox documentation

2010-06-03 Thread Ben Broadhurst
Hi all,
I have been trying unsuccessfully to get the sandbox working and I
keep hitting the same problem with the lack of documentation. If
someone could help I would really appreciate it.

This post says that I need a clientId in the auth.ini file:
http://groups.google.com/group/adwords-api/browse_thread/thread/ecde0c904e293318?pli=1&utoken=-3g51y4AAADCfNs_A0nfnzrpUYV1FJRIgqQONlsByfZz1JamZ46tbBCvo1hnDkal4QvDjLok6MU

The documentation makes no mention of that:
http://code.google.com/apis/adwords/docs/developer/adwords_api_sandbox.html#requestheaders

This tutorial video says that I don't need an applicationToken:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqVtUdB975M&feature=PlayList&p=9CA736F591727260&playnext_from=PL&index=6
but I get this error if I leave it out "applicationToken is required
and cannot be NULL."

The video also says I need to create the client accounts with a call
to getClientAccounts(), but this post says I don't need to:
http://groups.google.com/group/adwords-api/msg/08e5c4318ff90c97

This is my current auth.ini (redacted):
email = "thereareabsolutelynouserna...@googlemail.com"
password = "[redacted]"
userAgent = "iSUBSCRiBE"
applicationToken = "[redacted]"
developerToken = "thereareabsolutelynouserna...@googlemail.com++gbp"
clientEmail = "client_1+thereareabsolutelynouserna...@googlemail.com"

and currently throws the following:
"AuthenticationError.CLIENT_EMAIL_INVALID"

any help would be greatly appreciated as the docs are as confusing as
hell.

thanks all,
ben.

BulkMutate Python Documentation

I'm trying to build a BulkMutate job using Python. Can someone point me in

#print intervals[idx % 3][0],intervals[idx % 3][1],intervals[idx %
3][2],intervals[idx % 3][3], feed_data[campaigns[camp_id][0]][idx % 3+2]
timeofday = {
'xsi_type': 'AdSchedule',
'startHour': intervals[idx % 3][0],
'startMinute': intervals[idx % 3][1],
'endHour': intervals[idx % 3][2],
'endMinute': intervals[idx % 3][3],
'id': dayofweek
}
campaign_criterion = {
'campaignId': camp_id,
'criterion': timeofday,
'bidModifier': feed_data[campaigns[camp_id][0]][idx % 3 + 2]
}
operations = [{
'operator': 'SET',

service.mutate(operations)

Re: documentation clarification

2012-03-06 Thread Anash P. Oommen
Hi Chris,

The explanation means that if you have an Ad in the Ad Performance report,
and you wish to find out which criterion (keyword, placement, verticals,
etc.) triggered this ad, then you can pull a criteria report, and lookup
the keywordID column to find out the triggering criteria. Also, if you
include this column, the data get segmented (i.e. the report does
aggregation), and hence it will no longer contain zero impression rows.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have more questions.

Cheers,
Anash P. Oommen,
AdWords API Advisor.

SharedSetService Documentation Lacking

2016-08-07 Thread Adwords Webmarketing
Hi Adwords API Support Team,

In out current project, we need to implement Placements List Management
functionality. By reading the documentation, the way to do this would be by
using Shared sets as described in the following page:
https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/guides/shared-sets

However, each of these examples use a service (example 1: sharedSetService,
example 2: SharedCriterionService, etc.) to call the mutate() method and
the documentation doesn't specify at all how to initialize this services.
If we try to create a new SharedSetService object, it requires to implement
the following code:

SharedSetService sharedSetService = new SharedSetService() {
public String getSharedSetServiceInterfacePortAddress() {
return null;
}

public SharedSetServiceInterface
getSharedSetServiceInterfacePort() throws ServiceException {
return null;
}

public SharedSetServiceInterface
getSharedSetServiceInterfacePort(URL url) throws ServiceException {
return null;
}

public Remote getPort(QName qName, Class aClass) throws
ServiceException {
return null;
}

public Remote getPort(Class aClass) throws ServiceException {
return null;
}

public Call[] getCalls(QName qName) throws ServiceException {
return new Call[0];
}

public Call createCall(QName qName) throws ServiceException {
return null;
}

public Call createCall(QName qName, QName qName1) throws
ServiceException {
return null;
}

public Call createCall(QName qName, String s) throws
ServiceException {
return null;
}

public Call createCall() throws ServiceException {
return null;
}

public QName getServiceName() {
return null;
}

public Iterator getPorts() throws ServiceException {
return null;
}

public URL getWSDLDocumentLocation() {
return null;
}

public TypeMappingRegistry getTypeMappingRegistry() {
return null;
}

public HandlerRegistry getHandlerRegistry() {
return null;
}
};

Is this the only way how to create the required service instance? The
documentation refers to an already created Service but it doesn't show how
to do it.

Thanks,

Marc.

I communicated with my team internally. Since the concern is more on the client

Hello Kristian,

Could you please try pinging to the developers.google.com to see if your system
is able to reach our servers using terminal/console. If that is not working
then it might be the problem with your network. You have to switch to a
different network. If you are able to reach, then it mush be a problem with the
browser/check if cross origin is turned on/try incognito window/use different
browser to troubleshoot this.

Also, please try accessing the URL from a different browser/system using
different network as none of the advertisers reported any issues while
accessing the documentation looks like there is no problem at our end.

Please give it a try and let me know if you are still facing any issues.

AdWords API updateCriteria documentation

2008-09-28 Thread timprepscius

it would be useful to have:

must set criterionType when updating criteria, even though the
adgroupId and Id should theoretically specify an exact item.

criterionType CriterionType
The concrete type of this criterion. Generally, this attribute is read
only, but **may*** (not really may, should be 'must')
be set by scripting languages to indicate a concrete type.

Values are:

* Website
* Keyword

AdWords API Documentation Generation

I was perusing your online documentation for your AdWords API and was
struck by its resemblence to my needs for documenting my own

is automatically generated from Javadoc/Annotations, etc? If so is
there an available project that produces this or is it a private,
internal project from google?

Thank you,

Re: v200909 sandbox documentation

2010-06-07 Thread AdWords API Advisor
Hi Ben,

The AdWords API allows you to pass in either a clientCustomerId or a
clientEmail header, depending on how you want to specify the client
account. In the PHP client library, the auth.ini file stores these
values in the property clientId. The value in clientId will be put
into either the clientCustomerId header or the clientEmail header
depending on which type of value it is.

As for the applicationToken, it's been completely deprecated and is no
longer required for the sandbox or production API. The error message
you are seeing is from an older version of the library that required
it. Please ensure you've downloaded and installed the latest version
of the PHP client library, which is currently 2.2.0:

  http://code.google.com/p/google-api-adwords-php/downloads/list

Calling the v13 AccountService.getClientAccounts() is only needed when
you are using the v13 version of the API. If you use the v200909 of
v201003 versions of the API then the client accounts will be
automatically generated on the first get() request made to the API.

As for the error, ensure that your first request is a get() request,
typically CampaignService.get(). Also, I seem to remember problems in
the past where gmail.com worked, but googlemail.com didn't. Try
changing the domain to gmail.com and see if that fixes the problem.

Best,
- Eric Koleda, AdWords API Team

Bug in the Documentation

2012-12-30 Thread Noah
Hello,

I'm following, step-by-step, the documentation
at: https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/

1) Get an auth token using CURL. Works fine

2) Send manual SOAP request with supplied auth, client id, etc. FAILS

I get an error back from google that says (from the SOAP response):

MUST_SPECIFY_KEYWORD_MATCH_SETTINGS

However, the example in the docs doesn't say anything about keyword match
settings. My guess is that Google updated some rules for creating
campaigns, but failed to update the documentation.

Suggestions?

bidModifier documentation needs clarifying

2013-05-03 Thread David Holt
The documentation for CampaignCriterion.bidModifier at
https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201302/CampaignCriterionService.CampaignCriterion
 states:

This field must be between 0.10 and 10.0, inclusive. Specify -1.0 to clear

Shouldn't a note be included that for Platform 30001 (mobile) only, the
allowable range is between 0.00 and 4.00, inclusive?

Enhanced Campaigns API Documentation

2013-05-09 Thread Eric Peters
While reading the API docs for enhanced campaigns:
https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/guides/enhanced-campaigns

I have some confusion on whether the terminology "Mobile Bid Adjustment" is
the right one? Based upon the code example, you can set a bid adjustment
for any device platform, so isn't it effectively just a device bid
adjustment?

And to confirm. You can have two different bid adjustments for the High
End Mobile and Tablet device platforms simply by setting two separate
Campaign Criterion, one for each platform ID (30001L and 30002L from
https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/appendix/platforms)?

Thanks,

Eric

Re: BulkMutate Python Documentation

2014-07-23 Thread Josh Radcliff (AdWords API Team)
Hi,

The add_keywords_in_bulk.py

 example
shows how to submit and monitor MutateJobService

 requests
using Python.

Note as well that all *mutate* methods allow you to pass an *array* of
operations, so you can, for example, add *multiple* AdSchedule criteria

 to
one or more campaigns in a *single* request by simply passing multiple
*CampaignCriterionOperation*s in your mutate

 call.

Cheers,
Josh, AdWords API Team

Re: BulkMutate Python Documentation

2014-07-24 Thread Sean Kennedy
Hi Josh,

This was somewhat helpful in that it showed me I was sending operations
structured improperly to the mutate(), but I am still not able to
successfully pass in operations correctly.

See my post here: Re: BulkMutate Failure

.

Let me know what you find.

Thanks.

Hi,

I see that my colleague already posted a reply to your other post. Let's
continue the discussion there to avoid duplication.

Please try not to post the same issue under multiple posts. This makes it
difficult for others to find the ultimate solution for the issue.

adServingOptimizationStatus - inconsisntency in documentation?

2015-03-11 Thread Robert Rodakowski
Hello,

According to documentation API_docs
<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201502/CampaignService.Campaign>

adServingOptimizationStatus is strictly related to selected campaign
bidding strategy type. In particular, as it is described,
adServingOptimizationStatus=CONVERSION_OPTIMIZE is possible only if
campaign's bidding strategy is *CONVERSION_OPTIMIZER*:

*Ad serving is optimized based on CTR * Conversion for the campaign. If the
campaign is not in the conversion optimizer bidding strategy, it will
default to OPTIMIZED*
Somehow, it is still possible to set
adServingOptimizationStatus=CONVERSION_OPTIMIZE having bidding strategy set
as *MANUAL_CPC*.

The question is: is it a bug in documentation? Or maybe I've missed
something?
Please help, as I'm not sure if the campaign configured in that way will
perform as intended...

Best regards,
Robert.

Below is a part of XML (API response - CampaignService.get) showing the
mentioned state:

Documentation for Vertical path

2011-11-08 Thread Rob
Hi,

We've just seen a "Vertical" criterion for the first time in the wild and
it broke something. We were expecting an array of "path" details, as per
the documentation:

http://code.google.com/apis/adwords/docs/reference/latest/AdGroupCriterionService.Vertical.html#path

but instead got a (non-array) string from the API:

object(stdClass)#22 (3) {
  ["id"]=>
  int(11049165777)
  ["Criterion.Type"]=>
  string(8) "Vertical"
  ["path"]=>
  string(11) "Real Estate"
}

Could you please update the documentation?

Keyword Tool API Documentation

2012-01-04 Thread mark collier
I'm looking for documentation on using the Google Adwords Keyword Tool via
the Adwords API, although I see 2009/2010 blog post references to such a
service I can't find any documentation as to whether it is still provided.

Could someone point me in the right direction as to where I can find
details about accessing the Keyword Tool via API?

Thanks

Hi Marc,

You can instantiate the service by using SharedSetServiceInterface instead
of SharedSetService. This Java client library example code

how to use this service. Other client libraries examples are available here

CustomerService.getCustomers documentation needs fixing

2016-09-16 Thread Florian Lherbette
Hi,

CustomerService.getCustomers() does not work as documented.

Old forums threads were quoting the docs, but I find more recent threads
saying that without a customer ID header the method behaves like the old
CustomerService.get (returning the main account for the authenticated
user), and that it currently always returns a single account is the list.

The documentation issue has already been pointed out
in https://groups.google.com/d/topic/adwords-api/DLjJjPBEeeE/discussion ,
but has not even been acknowledged in this discussion.

Please please fix this, I probably won't be the last one to fall into this
trap.

Besides, the SOAP API reference and the developer guide does not seem to
agree, the former says that the behaviour changed since v201605, the latter
says it's since v201607:

https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201605/CustomerService#getcustomers
-
https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201607/CustomerService#getcustomers

Clarification about AdParamService Documentation

2016-10-27 Thread Stefano Fontana
I am a bit confused by the documentation here
https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201609/AdParamService
It says:
"""
 default-value specifies the string to display if one of the following
conditions is true:
• The parameter has not been set.
• The parameter's insertion text is too long for the display line.
• The ad is being shown on the Google Display Network.
"""
The confusing part is about the 3rd point: how come it's allowed to update
the parameter that is then ignored if the ad is displayed on the Display
Network?

Related to this question: what are the entities that can use the ad param?

Cheers,
S-

RE: rest api documentation

2023-04-21 Thread 'Google Ads API Forum Advisor' via Google Ads API and AdWords API Forum
Hi Meganathan,

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Ads API support team.

With regard to your concern for mutateMembers, kindly note that there is no
mutateMembers method in Google Ads API. You may check our migration
documentation
(https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/migration/user-data-service)
for Migrating to UserDataService, as it includes the equivalent of the
following AdWords API Service to Google Ads API Service. Kindly note that, User
list updates made through UserDataService don't appear as uploads in the Google
Ads UI. We recommend that you use the OfflineUserDataJobService
(https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/migration/user-data-service#offlinedatajobservice)
 if you're using the API to manage user lists that are also managed in the UI.

In addition to that, you may check the following Rest API interface below for
your reference:

UserDataService -
https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/rest/reference/rest/v13/customers/uploadUserData
OfflineUserDataJobService -
https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/rest/reference/rest/v13/customers.offlineUserDataJobs/addOperations

Let us know if you have any other concerns.

On BingAds documentation, they provide a document describing exactly which
elements for a Campaign are required in API calls, and which are optional
<https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bing-ads-campaign-management-campaign.aspx?f=255&mspperror=-2147217396#Anchor_1>.

This is for both Create and Update operations.

I'm looking for the same for Google Ads. The only thing I can find is sample
code
<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/samples/php/basic-operations#add-campaigns>which

states "(required)" in brackets, but this is far from canonical. I can't
seem to find the definitive source for this information, can someone please
point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

Confused about Ads documentation

2022-05-09 Thread axtens
I've adapted the code at
<https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/keyword-planning/generate-keyword-ideas>.

I don't understand why at one point why the example says,
```
var response =
keywordPlanIdeaService.GenerateKeywordIdeas(request);
```
and then about three lines later says,
```
KeywordPlanHistoricalMetrics metrics =
result.KeywordIdeaMetrics;
```
It seems on the one hand to be generating keyword ideas and then on the
other giving history.

Now in the documentation at
<https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/reference/rpc/v10/KeywordPlanIdeaService>

it says that there's `GenerateKeywordHistoricalMetrics` and
`GenerateKeywordIdeas`, however when I try to use the former in the
example, VS2022 indicates that the name is unknown.

So my questions are:
1. What does the C# code on the "idea generation" page demonstrate Ideas or
Historical Metrics (are these the same, conceptually, as AdWords' IDEAS and
STATS respectively?)?
2. If it is in fact demonstrating Ideas, how would one adapt it for
Historical Metrics?

V6 Reporting Documentation Incorrect

2020-11-30 Thread Pete Lavetsky (AdWords API Guru)
Hello!

We're trying to migrate a few reports from v201809 of the AdWords API to V6
of the Ads API

I'm referencing this
documentation: https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/fields/v6/campaign

My query is:

select customer.id, campaign.id, segments.date, segments.ad_network_type,
segments.conversion_action_category, metrics.conversions,
segments.conversion_action_name, metrics.cost_per_conversion,
metrics.conversions_from_interactions_rate from campaign where
segments.date   DURING   LAST_30_DAYS

My error is:

Failure message: errors {

  error_code {

query_error: PROHIBITED_SEGMENT_WITH_METRIC_IN_SELECT_OR_WHERE_CLAUSE

  }

  message: "Cannot select the following segments because at least one
unsupported metric is found in SELECT or WHERE clause:
\'segments.conversion_action_category\'(unsupported metrics:
\'conversions_from_interactions_rate\', \'cost_per_conversion\'),
\'segments.conversion_action_name\'(unsupported metrics:
\'conversions_from_interactions_rate\', \'cost_per_conversion\')."

}

When I reference the above V6 documentation, and I select "Yes, it is" for
is Campaign in the FROM clause, all of the fields referenced above show as
available to select at the same time ... ie. "This page shows all metrics
and segments that can be put in the same SELECT clause as the fields of
campaign."

So, is the documentation incorrect or is the error message incorrect?

Thanks

Pete

AdWords API Re: updateCriteria documentation

2008-09-29 Thread AdWords API Advisor

Hello Tim,

 I believe that language is in there to indicate that setting the
criterionType value is only one way of specifying the type of
Criterion you're dealing with, as per the note at the top of the page:

Note: For statically typed languages, such as Java, create an instance
of Website. For dynamically typed languages such as Perl and Python,
create a Criterion data object. Then either specify the xsi:type
attribute as Website or set the criterionType field to Website.

 So theoretically, at least, setting the appropriate xsi:type
attribute should mean that the criterionType doesn't need to be
specified. I need to dig up some sample code for a client library in a
language that actually takes the xsi:type approach rather than the
criterionType approach to make sure that that still applies. If for
some reason the AdWords API is no longer accepting xsi:type as an
alternative method then I'll ask to have the docs updated.

Cheers,
-Jeff Posnick, AdWords API Team

AdWords API Re: updateCriteria documentation

2008-09-30 Thread timprepscius

Hmm, interesting.. I think, I have to update a keyword.. Hmm that's
a criterion.. Let me look at that.
I click on "CriterionService" (http://www.google.com/apis/adwords/
developer/CriterionService.html) and then I click on
"updateCriteria"...

And I see this:
 Required fields for each criterion:
* id: The ID of the Criterion. The Criterion must already exist.
* adGroupId: The ID of the AdGroup owning this Criterion. This
field is not mutable - you may not move a Criterion to another
adgroup.

Which one would think (or I would think), "they say these are the
required fields so they must the required fields..."

I would expect that the note about additional required fields would be
in the "required fields" section.. Wouldn't you?

Perhaps you should just say something like, "you have to read another
part of the documentation, but we won't tell you what it is, or your
code will fail... If you just follow the documentation for
'updateCriteria' your 'updateCriteria' call will fail!"

-

BUT: While you're fixing documentation bugs, are you aware that you
have mis-capitalized "InActive" all over the place? It should be
"Inactive"- as that's what you pass back.. (for those of us in a case-
sensitive world)

AdWords API addAdGroup documentation confusion

2009-01-07 Thread purdue512

Hi there.

Your XML example for the addAdGroup method in the AdGroup service
shows:

  INSERT_CAMPAIGN_ID_HERE

10
Sample Ad Group
Enabled

However, the v13 WSDL shows:

and then for AdGroup:

So it would seem to me that campaignId and id are required in newdata.
However, your example for PHP and XML don't show that. They show
campaignId outside newdata and no mention of id at all. Can you
please clarify for me?

AdWords API v2009 limits documentation

2010-03-10 Thread pmac72
Are the limits for various fields listed anywhere in the v2009
documentation?

For a simple, example the v13 documentation tells the length limits
for a text ad in the docs here:
http://code.google.com/apis/adwords/docs/developer/TextAd.html

However the similar v2009 documentation does not:
http://code.google.com/apis/adwords/v2009/docs/reference/AdGroupAdService.TextAd.html

That is a trivial example. I've seen/heard other limits mentioned in
the Hack Day videos as I've been listing to them in the background. I
can't seem to find these numbers in the docs. There was mention of
hard limits on the BulkMutateJobService submissions that I cannot
find. Also this video mentions a nine manually created address limit:

I noticed this as well but I'm not sure it makes sense. Keyword Match

Re: Bug in the Documentation

2012-12-31 Thread Oliver
I'm not sure to be honest as I use only the Java library to create these
requests. There is an example of how to set this at line 111 here:

Re: Bug in the Documentation

2013-01-02 Thread Noah
Still stuck on this.

1) Has anyone resolved how that keyword_match_settings became mandatory?
Should the documentation examples be updated?

2) I can't figure out, from the online SOAP documentation, the correct way
to set this variable. Can someone provide me with an example SOAP request
that includes this parameter?

Thanks

Re: Bug in the Documentation

2013-01-04 Thread Kevin Winter (AdWords API Team)
Thanks for pointing this out, I'll get the docs updated.

We strongly encourage you to use a client library to make SOAP calls, very
few developers take this route. Making raw requests like this will result
in numerous headaches (such as this) trying to craft the appropriate SOAP.
 We have plenty of code examples showing how to do numerous actions with
the API. For example, adding campaigns in java:
https://code.google.com/p/google-api-ads-java/source/browse/examples/adwords_axis/src/main/java/adwords/axis/v201209/basicoperations/AddCampaigns.java

Re: Bug in the Documentation

2013-01-04 Thread Noah Silverman
Kevin,

We may very well decide to use the API for final production code. However, to
fully understand the underlying communication process and options, we'd like to
start with some raw SOAP calls and work our way up.

This shouldn't be too difficult as SOAP is a fairly well defined protocol, and
Google has very thorough online documentation of every object, call, and
option. Our main issue is that we don't understand some of the "notation" that
Google uses to describe SOAP options. (While SOAP follows standards, the
documentation has no standard.)

For example, with this setting, the documentation is here:
https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/latest/CampaignService.KeywordMatchSetting

Apparently it is a "setting" of "Campaign", which is documented here:
https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/latest/CampaignService.Campaign

The documentation says that "Setting" is a "list", but doesn't really explain
how to use that in the XML

Is there an actual example of XML (SOAP) that uses this setting?

As it stands, the example, which is SOAP, is broken.

Thank You

Hello Eric,

Yes, mobile bid adjustment it the correct term as only mobile criterion ID
can be passed in the mutate call. Sending any other platform ID will result

Thanks for the clarificaiton there Danial.

Are you able to set (or turn off) bidding on the Tablet platform for
Enhanced campaigns in a different way (for AdWords)? Or based upon your
response I'm assuming they are treated just like a Desktop bid?

Eric

I believe what this means is that if you set it to CONVERSION_OPTIMIZE, it
means that it will use the conversion optimizer if possible, and otherwise
it will act the same as if you had set OPTIMIZE. I do not believe there is
on inconsistency here.

Re: adServingOptimizationStatus - inconsisntency in documentation?

2015-03-17 Thread Robert Rodakowski
Thank you for reply!

You wrote:
*"... it means that it will use the conversion optimizer if possible..."*
Does it mean, that bidding strategy will be automatically set to Conversion
Optimizer (biddingStrategyConfiguration field in campaign), if possible? So
the next question is, if ad rotation setting set to CONVERSION_OPTIMIZE has
any impact on bidding strategy setting (e.g: invoke any change itself)?

I'm asking, because I'm not able to test it directly, still waiting on
Google to classify my campaigns as "eligible to conversion optimizer".

Kind regards,
Robert.

No, the bidding strategy should never change on its own. You would still
have to manually change the bidding strategy to use the conversion
optimizer once you are able to use that.

Re: Documentation for Vertical path

2011-11-10 Thread David Torres
Hi Rob,

What programming language/client library are you using? Some SOAP toolkits
tend to un-wrap arrays when they have only one element, the documentation
is correct you could get multiple values in the path, since you need to be
able to properly identify the vertical path.

Report Documentation Updates: Clicks & Interactions

2015-10-01 Thread Nicholas Hoium
Now that Video Campaign metrics are now shown alongside Search & Display in
the UI, the performance reports include them. This is great news but there
seems to be some column mismatching. Interactions are now being sent as
Clicks, which should not happen as it also includes 'Paid Views' of AdWords
Video campaigns. These are not the same thing to me or my clients. When
will the reports to updated to pull these independently and why were
advertisers not notified of this change? It's really affected my reports
and clients are asking about inflated data.

Hi Florian,

The significant difference between v201605.CustomerService

 and v201607.CustomerService
<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201607/CustomerService>
 is
that v201607 does not support the get method. Regarding getCustomers

Ad Param value will be used if the ad is being shown on the Google Search
Network. If it is being shown on the Google Display Network, the default

Ad Params can be used on description, headlinePart1 and headlinePart2
fields of an Expanded Text ad and description1, description2 and headline
of a standard text ad. This guide
 provides
more information on using Ad parameters.

RE: V6 Reporting Documentation Incorrect

2020-12-02 Thread Google Ads API Forum Advisor Prod
Hello Pete,

Thank you for reaching out to Google Ads API support.

The PROHIBITED_SEGMENT_WITH_METRIC_IN_SELECT_OR_WHERE_CLAUSE QueryError occurs
when a field in the SELECT clause is not selectable with another field in the
SELECT (or WHERE) clause. This is a different requirement than when "campaign"
is specified in the FROM clause.

You can see the fields/resources segments.conversion_action_category is
compatible with by expanding "selectable with". In your query
"segments.conversion_action_category" and "segments.conversion_action_name" are
not selectable with "metrics.conversions_from_interactions_rate" or
"metrics.cost_per_conversion" in the same SELECT clause.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Regards,

Re: V6 Reporting Documentation Incorrect

2020-12-07 Thread Pete Lavetsky (AdWords API Guru)
Hi Abraham,

Thanks for that insight.

As stated, we're attempting to migrate the last of our reports over from
AdWords API to Ads API.

As a more basic example lets talk about migrating our
ACCOUNT_PERFORMANCE_REPORT
(
https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/migration/reports#account_performance

)

Here's our query using the new fields from the migration documentation.
Keep in mind this exact same query, using the AdWords API fields, worked.
All we've done is change the fields over to the Ads API corresponding
fields.

query: "select customer.id, segments.date, segments.ad_network_type,
segments.device, segments.conversion_action_name,
segments.conversion_action_category, metrics.conversions,
metrics.conversions_from_interactions_rate, metrics.cost_per_conversion
from customer where segments.date   DURING   LAST_30_DAYS "

And we get the same
PROHIBITED_SEGMENT_WITH_METRIC_IN_SELECT_OR_WHERE_CLAUSE error, which as
you've pointed out is a valid error.

Just to confirm, specific field combinations that worked in the AdWords API
no longer work in the Ads API correct?

Assuming the above is true, how are we to construct a query that will allow
us to get metrics.conversions_from_interactions_rate and
metrics.cost_per_conversion segmented by their
segments.conversion_action_name or segments.conversion_action_category?

ie. how do we get Google to tell us our Cost per Conversion for specific
Conversion Action names or Conversion Action categories?

Thanks

Pete

So there's no ambiguity, this is the query we were using in AdWords API:

SELECT ExternalCustomerId, Date, AdNetworkType1, Device,
ConversionTypeName, ConversionCategoryName, Conversions, ConversionRate,
CostPerConversion FROM ACCOUNT_PERFORMANCE_REPORT DURING LAST_30_DAYS

Hi Pete,

Unfortunately, when using Google Ads API, you cannot segment by conversion
actions when you are using fields such as
metrics.conversions_from_interactions_rate and metrics.cost_per_conversion. If
you look at this page, you can see what fields can be used with segment fields.
Additionally, you can use the Interactive Google Ads Query Builder to see if
your report query is valid.

Re: V6 Reporting Documentation Incorrect

2020-12-08 Thread Pete Lavetsky (AdWords API Guru)
Anthony,

I've been using the query builder and that's why I'm here asking if the
rules Google has put in place for conversion action segments is correct.

Throw out everything I said above and just use the Interactive Google Ads
Query Builder to start with customer resource and metrics.cost_micros as
the first field.

With only metrics.cost_micros selected, I can't select anything for
segments.conversion_action

How are we ever supposed to know the cost associated with any of our
conversion_actions?

This was super achievable in AdWords API and I'm asking you to ping the
engineers about this.

There must be some way to get the data in Ads API that was so easily
retrievable in AdWords API

Thanks
Pete

Hi Pete,

I've asked the Conversions team to take a look. I'll let you know as I hear
from them.
